Indeed. I'm really excited about spending the second half of games looking at my watch and weighing my options between... 1. Bolting out of the arena without doing any interviews and making the hour drive back to do a rush job on the story. 2. Driving all over the area beforehand to scout out a nice spot to steal wireless. 3. Relaying the information over the phone like it's the 1940s. ... Either way, the quality of the coverage will suffer and the readers are the ones who get shortchanged. Quite often I end up making the call between these options on the fly because there's nothing else that can be done about it. I never would have imagined I'd be doing the same thing for the biggest games of the year, especially when they're held in the same state of the art facility I sat in with my laptop back in December. I know of other places that have banned live blogging, and while I don't agree with it, I at least see their argument. The idea of banning all computers, however, makes absolutely no sense at all. Well played BOKC. You couldn't possibly have alienated and angered more people if you tried.

I will say that it was a nice effort by Harrison, but the timing here is a bit off and "should have won the game" is a little bit of a stretch. Mason did trail 42-38 going into the fourth quarter, but scored the first 10 points of the quarter. They had tied it by the 6:57 mark and took the lead for good at 6:46.

The Dunbar game was scheduled for last Monday, but cancelled due to Dunbar's gym being used as a shelter. As far as I know, it will not be rescheduled.

In this game, they actually started out shooting well from the line (10-14 first half), but regressed back to their season average with a 5-13 second half.

Worth noting is the possession where HC got a steal and had basically a 2 on 0 at the other end. Russ Middleton hustles down to the other end in time to affect the layup, which is missed, then Barner absolutely engulfs what would have been the putback. Pretty much tells you all you need to know about the 2nd half.

Mason County again had a big second half. At one point in the third, X went up by six and Stenger was having his way at the time. Pawsat hits a 3 and turns it into a 4-point play, mason gets a turnover on the other end and Middleton knocks down another 3. Turned into a 16-1 Mason County run. Stenger had 24, Middleton had 22 and both were their teams MVPs.

They pretty much all play 20 regular season games. Last year Georgetown went 17-2 (I think one was cancelled due to weather) and won their division of their league (based on a 12-1 league record) during the regular season, then got upset in their second tournament game. I'd have to look it up, but I'm fairly certain in 2007 it went: 20-0 regular season (with 13-0 league record), 2 sectional wins, 2 district wins, 2 region wins, 2 state wins. Ohio's postseason is a mess to try to explain, but I grew up and played my HS sports there and covered most of Georgetown's run for the Ledger two years ago so I'll give it a shot. It goes sectional, district, region, state. Depending on how many teams are in your sectional or how the draw goes, you could have to play 3 games to get through, or your first tournament game could be a sectional final. When you get to the district it's basically the round of 64 and you play two games there, region is the round of 16 and you play two games there. When you get to state there are only four teams left. Of course they do this across four divisions and have four champions, kind of like how Kentucky has six classes in football. That's probably more than you were looking for but hopefully it helps out.

He was all over the place tonight. Deflected at least 3 passes, one of which ended up getting picked off. Had the 90 yard kick return that got called back, then a 50 yard return on the next one to set up MC's first score.

As a poll voter who puts far more time and effort than I probably should into making sure I make informed selections, I'll honestly say I don't have a clue what some of the others are thinking. Every week, I make a spreadsheet with every team ranked or getting votes in the AP Poll in each class and input records, where I voted them, Cantrall, Litkenhous, BGP rankings, their last game and next game among other things. I know that's probably a bit extreme, but I take my vote seriously and enjoy that kind of stuff anyway so it's no big deal. I don't expect everybody to go to the measures I do, but the results I see each week lead me to believe some voters aren't even trying. Every week, there are a handful of things that just jump off the page at me. The fact that Reidland gets beat by 70 and goes from unranked to receiving votes makes no sense to me. For whatever reason, the 2A poll seems to have more weird stuff going on than others, as last week Morgan County (at that point 0-5 and dead last in both the Cantrall and Litkenhous) was getting votes.

Old record was 74, which he tied on the first touchdown of the game. He ended up missing one in the third quarter, so his record will stand at 76. Not sure how long the previous record stood.

Let's give the guy a break. As a sportswriter, you couldn't pay me enough to write one of these things with the list format because you're never going to please anybody. Sure, you can load the list up with players from Mason and Clark and just as many people would be on here killing the guy for ignoring the small schools. Sure, he could have put Clark #1 and just as many people would be hammering him for putting the defending state champs second in their own region behind a team they beat by 17 and 23 last year. And unless you were driving up to Greenfield McClain all season last year, Zollo is still an unknown to most of us. I guess what I'm basically saying is that there are obviously more than 10 quality players in the 10th region, so it's impossible to put together a list of 10 without shorting somebody. And seriously, who really cares whether your team is first or second or tenth in the opinion of one writer in October?

As ridiculous as it sounds, GCC really appeared to do everything in its power to keep the score down. Manchester doesn't tackle well, to put it mildly. GCC's starting tailback touched the ball 10 times and scored on 6 of them. Starting QB threw 8 passes and four went for TDs. They had pretty much called off the dogs in the early second quarter but couldn't help getting return TDs or handing it off to 3rd, 4th, 5th sting RBs up the middle and having them break away for touchdowns. At one point before the half, the fullback breaks what would have been a 50 yard TD but runs out of bounds. Gets called back due to holding, they run the same play again, the kid breaks it again for what would have been a 70 yard TD, runs out of bounds again and they kneel to run out the half. Based on their play calling, I think they were determined not to score in the fourth quarter, but how are you going to tell a kid who never gets to play not to retrun a pick 90 yards if he has the chance? They just kneeled on the PAT. To Manchester's credit, with only 19 healthy kids and no seniors, they have a few decent players on offense and usually get their share of points. Yesterday's first half was kind of a perfect storm in that their defense is never going to stop anybody but the O turned it over a bunch of times to make it worse.

It's probably worth noting that this game was 84-0 last year.
