  1. OSU Football/Basketball... Worst big game performers ever. That. Is. All.
  2. When I announced that the game was ove about two hours ago, I darn near got booted from an OSU forum. OSU never had any heart in thisa game. They're terivble. Now I'm going to drink myself into as coma and continue to complain about how when I was 5 years old i found a team who ws thias terrible in important geams in every sport.
  3. Back somewhere around the Cris Carter years, I remember my parents taking me to and OSU/Michigan party and rooting hardcore for OSU. It was basically all downhill from there. I know UK fans think thiings are bad right now but I really think the only purpose of OSU athletics is to get right to the verge of championships and rip your heart out.
  4. OSU has absolutely zero heart. I can't believe I even gave these guys a chance. Watcing the second half is a waste of your time. Personally, I'm just going to drink until I forget that the 2006-2007 college athletic season even existed.
  5. As much as I hate the Bucks right now, there was absolutely no foul there if you're talikng abou UT's final shot. Conley or whoever it was guarding the shooter actually jumped back when they went up and Oden came out of nowhere to throw it out of bounds.
  6. The fact that they ended up winning the game doesn't make them any less terrible than when I posted in the update thread. Until I die, I'll kick myself for back when I was five years old choosing to follow a school whose teams are such garbage in big games in football and basketball. I guess a win is a win and at least we don't have to play aTm in a virtual home game but if they continue to play like this they'll get rolled by Memphis.
  7. I don't know how it's possible for one school to field so many good teams who absolutely never ever ever ever show up when it counts. I've followed OSU sports since I was old enough to know what was going on but I may have finally seen enough. These guys are a disgrace and I hope Chris torches them for about 20 more in the second half.
  8. I'd most like to see the OSU/Tennessee winner go all the way. With Duke and UK out of the way, there's not anybody I really don't want to win. I suppose if I had to pick someone I didn't want, it would be Florida just to get somebody new in there.
  9. There's no reason to think UK can play with Kansas, but that being said, Kansas has perfected the art of the premature tournament exit. It will be closer than it should be.
  10. I would also have to add that it's the first time the schedule has been laid out in such a manner that the final would have already been played before the next edition of the paper, effectively diminishing the importance of a writeup of Saturday's games. Fair enough though, we can agree to disagree. :thumb: It's a judgement call, on which I spent two full paragraphs specualting about the reasoning, despite the fact that I wasn't even there. I'm not sure what else you want. In summation, there probably should have been at least a couple paragraphs or something in there. I never disagreed with that. Unfortunately, we're not all perfect and it's over and done with. Sorry for trying to help out with a different point of view. While we're on a roll today, I guess I'm fair game if anybody else wants to take any shots at me too.
  11. Wow. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly is wrong with it. Three local teams lost to three non-local teams by a total of 11 points in their respective regional finals, two of them losing leads in the final minute. Rather heartbreaking if you ask me. It's the Maysville paper after all, not the Cardinal/Indian/Spartan Fan Club Newsletter.
  12. Relax, guy. I'm just wondering what exactly the Ledger did to you that you feel compelled to get on BGP and pick apart everything about the paper (and apparently everything about Mason County and Maysville in general) all week? First off, I'll try to clear up any confusion I can... Saturday's paper ran the Friday semifinal between Mason and Brossart girls along with the Georgetown (OH) district championship. Saturday there were writers going to Mason/Brossart, Scott/GRC, the Mason/Montgomery girls final and an Ohio girls regional final between Eastern Brown and Albany Alexander. All of those ran today execpt for Scott/GRC I was honestly as surprised as anybody to not see Scott/GRC at all. Since it was a game between non-local teams and the finals would have taken place before the next edition of the paper ran, I wouldn't have expected a full story but I know there was still a writer and photographer scheduled for the game. I wasn't involved in the layout of today's paper but I'm sure there's a legitimate explanation. My specualtion would be that with only three sports pages today (something that is out of the sports department's hands) for five basketball games, a Nascar race and the NCAA tourney selection, something had to go, with the logical choice being a two-day old game game between non-local teams. If Jonathan logs on later, he can probably confirm that or clear things up better than I can. Whatever the case is, it's not like the paper just randomly chooses to skip a region semifinal. Sometimes quick decisions have to be made with whatever you have to work with at the time. I probably would have gone with a couple paragraphs and a box score, maybe you would scrap the Nascar or NCAA story and go with a full game story. We don't know what he had to work with at the time and obviously, the decision was made to just put the final score on the bracket. Maybe that will upset some, but it's not like there's some hidden agenda against GRC. Covering high school sports can be a thankless job at times because with so many schools spread around the area and the limitations deadlines put on time and travel, you're never going to please everyone. In the past, people have raised concerns about coverage of some of the harder schools to get to such as Deming, Lewis and the Ohio schools, and to be honest, in some cases they had a point and an effort was made to get more of them in this year. I thought I had seen it all when people were saying earlier in the year that Mason wasn't getting enough coverage, but the idea of someone being upset that Clark is being slighted in the Maysville paper absolutely blows my mind.
  13. Here's what I've got as an unofficial box for now. I ran into a mix up so a couple of Mason's individuals may be off by a point or two but it should be accurate for the most part. Mason County 14 12 16 21 - 63 Montgomery County 14 17 17 18 - 66 Mason: Cline 8 3-4 21, D.Chambers 8 1-1 19, T.Chambers 2 5-6 9, Litzinger 4 0-0 9, Reese 1 0-0 3, Menke 1 0-0 2. Totals 24 9-11 63. Montgomery: Prewitt 8 5-6 23, Lee 3 5-6 12, High 3 0-0 9, Danis 2 2-2 6, Thomas 3 0-0 6, Colliver 3 1-2 7, Barnard 1 0-0 3. Totals 23 13-16 66. 15. Great game, great atmosphere. Easily one of the best girls games I've ever seen. The best thing was that it wasn't one of those games that's close because of turnovers, unforced errors, etc. It was just two teams making one play after another and was also pretty well officiated. I know you hear it all the time but this really was a game where it was a shame that either team had to lose.
  16. This was probably the sloppiest I've ever seen Mason play but they sacked up and got it done when they needed to. Darius looked tentative for the better part of the game (possibly because of being whistled for a couple of atrocious foul calls early and another in the early 3rd quarter) but settled in and was a beast down the stretch. Congrats to Brossart who refused to go quit every time it looked like Mason had it wrapped up. Good to see Mason get this one out of their system and move on because they could get rolled by 20 if they come out like this again.
  17. Mason County 12 6 24 21 -- 63 Bishop Brossart 12 12 15 16 -- 55 MC: Reese 2-9 2-2 7, Litzinger 5-14 5-8 16, Cline 6-15 1-2 14, T.Chambers 3-8 3-4 9, D.Chambers 5-10 2-2 14, K.Menke 1-7 0-0 3. Totals 22-63 13-18 63. BB: Skinner 3-13 1-2 8, Watson 7-10 0-0 14, Duff 3-4 0-0 6, Steffen 2-8 0-1 4, Henke 6-13 2-2 14, Butsch 2-2 1-2 5, Sanker 2-6 0-0 4. Totals 25-56 4-7 55. Three-pointers: MC 6-23 (D.Chambers 2-3, Cline 1-4, Reese 1-5, K.Menke 1-5, Litzinger 1-6), BB 1-7 (Skinner 1-5, Duff 0-1, Sanker 0-1).
  18. The score couldn't possibly be less indicative of what went on in this one. Honestly, we were at the game and I thought it might be a mistake when I first saw it in the thread title.
  19. Deming 6 9 6 13 - 34 Bishop Brossart 13 22 12 11 - 58 D: Massey 2 5-6 9, Grause 1 0-0 2, Graves 4 5-7 13, K.King 0 2-2 2, L.King 1 0-0 2, Mitchell 1 0-0 2, Workman 0 2-2 2, Caldwell 0 2-2 2. Totals 9 16-20 34. BB: Kidney 4 1-3 9, Niemeyer 3 0-1 6, Kramer 2 0-0 4, Uebel 3 0-0 7, Cooper 4 7-7 15, Lloyd 1 1-2 3, Rebholz 1 0-0 2, Kremer 0 2-2 2, Ridder 0 1-2 1, Rieger 1 0-0 2, Mutsch 3 0-0 7. Totals 22 12-17 58. Three-pointers: D 0, BB 2 (Uebel, Mutsch).
  20. This game actually got off to a pretty slow start and was still only 8-6 inside 2:00 in the first quarter. It was pretty much all Brossart from that point as they forced a ton of turnovers and Deming never really got into a flow on offense. Basically the only stat you need (first half): Turnovers: Deming 13, Brossart 2 Points off turnovers: Brossart 18, Deming 0 Brossart took an 18 point lead to the half and then sealed it by scoring the first eight points of the second half. As of immediately after the game, the doctor hadn't ruled out the possibility of Massey's ankle being broken and they were going to have it checked out. It's a shame for a great high school career to have to end that way and hopefully he gets his chance at the next level.
  21. Yep. I left my stats at the office but 0-6 from outside if I remember right. Spent some time in foul trouble and eventually fouled out in the last few minutes.
  22. Pretty entertaining ballgame and a great atmosphere at Lewis County. You have to give it to those fans, regardless of the record they come out and go crazy. I'm at a game just about every night and that was as loud as I've heard it anywhere this year. LC just kind of seemed to play with more energy throughout, with GC almost looking shellshocked at times. You kept thinking a GC run was coming but it never really materialized and LC was seemingly there with a huge shot. GC actually took an early 2nd half lead at like 27-25 but then LC finishes out the quarter on something like an 18-6 run with Witten hitting three threes in just over a minute. Then GC cuts it to 46-43 with about 4:00 to play and Lewis closes with the last 12 points.
  23. This was a better game than the score would indicate. LC was within 1 a couple times in the third and was only down by 3 going into the fourth. Raceland gets a couple quick buckets and next thing you know it's 8 points. LC had been staying in it with 3 point shooting but went cold (partially due to jacking up a bunch of them from NBA range) and Raceland was near automatic from the line to seal it. At first glance the FT margin would appear to be way off but it was more of a case of Raceland attacking on the inside more and LC having to foul late.
  24. Lewis County 7 16 10 5 - 38 Raceland 17 8 11 12 - 48 LC: Lykins 3 0-0 9, Denton 3 1-2 9, Marth 3 0-0 7, Fitch 3 0-0 6, Perkins 2 0-0 4, Tr.Liles 1 0-0 2, To.Liles 0 1-2 1. Totals 15 2-4 38. R: Vanderhoof 3 12-13 18, P.Porter 3 5-6 13, Keeton 3 1-4 7, K.Porter 1 2-3 4, Seals 2 0-0 4, Massie 1 0-0 2. Totals 13 20-26 48. Three-pointers: LC 6 (Lykins 3, Denton 2, Marth), R 2 (P.Porter 2).
