  1. A point to ponder. I know it will change now that the holiday games are over but as of now only 3 teams in the eighth region have played 50% or more of their games against other 8th region teams. Gallatin Co. - 70% SK - 50% Carroll Co. - 50% Trimble Co. - 45% Owen Co. - 45% Williamstown- 44% Henry Co. - 43% WV - 38% Eminence - 30% Spencer Co. - 23% Anderson Co.- 18% Oldhan Co. - 18% S. Oldham - 17% Grant Co. - 14% N. Oldham - 10% Shelby Co. - 9%
  2. First congrats to Carroll on a big district win. As I've said in other post, senior led teams are usually hard to beat and when talking about the smaller schools like Carroll, Gallatin, Trimble, ect... juniors can be put into that catagory. Coach Yeager did not inherit an empty cupboard, this current team knows how to win. They were my preseason pick to win the All "A" and the district, both at home. That hasn't changed however Gallatin is better than I thought they would be (because of their youth).
  3. SK by 10. Although I wouldn't mind seeing the all 'a' school pulling it out.
  4. Every year Gallatin Co. has a player that gets labeled "OVERRATED". This year it is Zac's turn. A good hard nosed player that any coach in the region would love to have. Team play will make a player seem "OVERRATED" at times.
  5. I'll take Gallatin by 10. I think it will stay close throughout, but Jones and Maddux will be too much for Walton.
  6. I didn't expect the score to be this bad. Any recap?
  7. Yes, after missing the Trimble game she played and looked to be close to full speed.
  8. WALTON-VERONA 7-11-7-13=38 at BOONE CO. 19-27-7-17=70 WALTON-VERONA (1-1): Rice 1 0 3, Reynolds 1 0 2, Bowlin 1 1 4, Sullivan 2 0 5, McIntyre 1 1 3, Ponzer 2 3 9, Bruckman 2 0 6, Cottrell 0 2 2, Burns 2 0 4. Totals 12 7 38. BOONE COUNTY (2-0): Gabbard 4 2 10, McFarland 4 2 10, Schulze 3 1 7, Montgomery 1 0 2, Cotton 2 0 4, A. Brown 4 0 8, Popp 5 0 10, Crabtree 1 0 2, Lay 6 2 14, T. Brown 0 3 3. 9. The game was called better than I thought possible when I saw who the officials were. Only one call was questioned by the coaches and that resulted in a " T ".
  10. Congrats to the Cats. Just how I figured the game would end up, close and to the end. This is a good win away from home. Who played well from both teams?
  11. These two schools will battle, both are very scrappy. I'll take Gallatin in a close one that goes to the end. Wish I could make it, should be fun to watch.
  12. Has Shelby Valley been in 2a the past few years, because I dont recall them being class a the past few years.
  13. 100% agree... Gallatin wont be as good as the past few years but always a sleeper. I've seen maddux play and hes the real deal...
  14. From the 8th region... Maddux/Jones @ Gallatin Gamble/Shelton @ Owen Yager @ Carroll Sorry if I missed some, I know Trimble has a few, and Carroll has more but these are the names I remembered from the 8th.
  15. Penny is the real deal, and I am not taking anything away from him. But last year when I saw the match up between him(Penny) and Maddox, it seemed that he was not very good outside the 10-15 foot range. While I saw Maddox was very good all over the floor.
  16. I know Trent Maddux for Gallatin County is the real deal. I watched him in last years region win over Anderson Co. and I thought he looked better than C.J. Penny.
  17. Was not there but heard Gallatin won 48 - 8
  18. I should have said 2 or 3 upperclassmen (who happen to be very good players). I know that they have some good players coming up but they won't be the senior led team that they have been the last two years. No I have not seen them play this summer and if they are the best team in the Class A Region, or even the district starting the season I will not only be very happy but I will be surprised. All four ahead of them NO but being able to compete with them YES.
  19. Gallatin has lost 5 seniors 2 year in a row, which is unheard of for them. They have a good team with two or maybe 3 very good players returning. They will contend for the Class A and the conference but won't be the top pick for either. Owen. Carroll. Trimble. and W. V. will all have teams as good or better. Going to be a fun (towatch) year.
  20. Who is it?????? Heard it was either Yager or Mike Stewart but not for sure.
  21. That was my opinion also, before last seasons regional tournament. It really doesn't matter which one is #1. The eighth will again belong to the bigger schools and the all "A" eighth is up for grabs.
  22. The 8th will be up for grabs just like last year and CJ is one of the better players in the region, unstopable under the basket but if I was picking a player to start a team I'ld take Maddox out of Gallatin. Not sure if will have the supporting cast to make a run at the region but the kid has the whole package inside and out.
  23. I had not heard of Carlton not being a member of the Wildcats. This will hurt the Cats, he was a big factor in the Region last year.
