I agree with you on both Gallatin and Owen County. With the re-addition of Owen County, that makes the 8th region all a more interesting. Gallatin has three returning starters still in Carlton, Jones, and a pretty good player in Maddox. I know Owen has Shelton, and Gamble. Those are the two that stood out in my mind.
Being ranked the #1 team in the region for the best part of the year from the begining, I'ld say they were in the mix if not the favorite. I think every team in the 8th lost a great deal of experience last year, with SK leading the pack.
Not only did Coach Jones put a schedule together (for the last 3 years) that would have the boys ready, he and his staff were ready and out coached Coach Drury and staff. Super job!!! Get 5-6 down, call a time out, make a fix and now it's tied. Didn't happen on the other side. Congrats to Jones and staff.
Penny is unstopable on the blocks but for having a complete game I'll take Maddox. Not only did he out play him last night, he is a better player because he is not one dimensional.
Also, David Henson did a really nice job, D-ing up on C.J Penny I thought. He played alot of the game, and while he didn't score, he was one of the reasons Penny was held under 20.
Wow! What a team effort tonight. Scott Brown played shut down defense, Taylor Jones was clutch with some very big buckets, Jared Carloton got every rebound when it counted, Zac Jones played a huge role, hitting big buckets, and Trent Maddox once again took control of the game, and had a very big night. What a great game to see!
Gallatin is 8-2 against the field this year. That is the good news. The two losses came against N.Oldham and Anderson Co. Makes for a very interesting lower bracket.
Welcome to the site Madluc. Do you know how many seniors Owen has?
Congrats to GC, beating Owen Co. as well as Owen had been playing was no small feat.
It is really just simple math. Do you want the $10 - $20 from these families two or three times a year or do you want $0. after all the costs of equipment, officials, uniforms is not going down.
It doesn't matter how much it cost to go to a movie if you don't go.
I wonder if any of the AD's will ever wake up and let students in for free? 3rd grade math.
EX. 1 - Family of 5, (three students) $5 each for the parents $2-$5 for the students = I can't take my family to ball games.
EX. 2 - Family of 5, (three students) $5 for parents, students free = $10 for the athletic dept. + 5 fans and concession money.
The $10 plus concession money beats $0 everytime.
I think that Gallatin Co is good enough to take the eighth but there are not going to be any good draws, and I think Gallatin Co will have a very hard time putting together 3 games together in three nights. Hope that they can, but they don't have the depth I think they would need.
