I surprised Russell voted against it. Their AD's son is an accomplished musician and possibly the best piano player I've ever heard so you think he would be all for the bands. Also- if that is how the votes went it may be the first time Russell and Greenup every agreed on anything except "We don't like Raceland." :sssh: :thumb:

I quit playing baseball when I was a kid. I can tell you then and now I still don't regret it. The few sports I played (baseball and basketball), I played because I had fun playing them. It got to a point when it stopped being fun. I had a Baseball Coach who never called me by the right name, he was not interested in trying to help get better and he just screamed. He never told you how do anything right, he just told you were doing it wrong. Loudly. I used to love playing baseball in the front yard, but I started to hate it. My Dad sensed my frustration and wisely came in my room and told me I had his blessing to quit, not because I was a quitter but because this guy was obviously a whack job. The next day we went to practice and I handed in my uniform. And to this day i will never forget what the Coach said, "Andy (that's not my name- not even close) you stunk anyway. Now not only do you stink, but now you're a quitter. A stinky quitter." I was 8. And Dad of course had words with him, but that went nowhere. And complaints to Little League fell on deaf ears. The team was undefeated after all, surely there was nothing wrong! Please. It's not always about wins and losses. Especially with 8 year olds. And people wonder why other than playing basketball for my Dad in Elementary school I never played organized sports again. Kids are kids. You can't always lay it at their feet. It's Coaches and Parents who have taken the fun out of sports. It's become too much about wins and losses and less about teamwork and a bunch of kids having a good time working together to accomplish a goal. I watch my oldest son play Upwards Basketball and they have a blast. They are learning the fundamentals and there's no pressure on them, they just want them to have fun. That's what it's all about. Anyway that's my two cents, although it's probably only worth a penny.

Russell has a solid staff and some young kids. They will be back. At a small school, especially one that is more football oriented, you can't be district kings year after year. Sometimes the kids just aren't there for a couple of years. I think Dodd will be fielding a better team as the year goes on and they get more experience. I look for Russell to be back in the Regional title hunt in a couple of years.

The ADI never lets facts get in the way of a good poll. Kind of like Fox News. :lol: That said, seems like the Super 7 is pretty dead on this week.

I think School "A" has done just fine since "Legendary Coach A" retired. They've had a couple of coaches who didn't work out, but "Current Coach D" is doing fine. The "7th Grader K" is just too good not to play, and politics don't play that much into it. I never heard anyone complain when OJ Mayo played in 7th grade and plenty of the Class A schools have had Junior High kids play Varsity Ball over the years. Don't play the politics card here because "7th Grader K" has the God-given ability to get minutes on the Varisty level. That's knocking a kid down, and surely you weren't knocking a kid.

After reading through this thread as an outsider I am pretty sure Stick1 should be the new head coach at LCHS. That post was simply amazing. You have made me want to drive to Louisa and help you out, even if its just selling Snickers bars at the concession stand! After I read your post I was looking for a helmet to go hit something for the Bulldogs and I'm a Ram! Good stuff!

Read the preview and I can't believe the sandy Hook bias of DI! You would think they're wasn't anyone else around but Elliott County! Who do they think are anyway? You would think they were the defending 16th Region Champs? Please. Pictures splashed over the cover, on the inside. Disgraceful. :lol: I thought it was another solid preview! I am definitely going have to go watch the Rams in the Palace at least once this year, still haven't seen a game there. I hear good things about their new Coach.

They were always a powerhouse in NeKY and I would love to see them that way again. If the people from LC here think somone from outside should come in then I would tend to agree with them. Sometimes it's best for a team if someone without any opponents or allies takes over a program where politics has plagued several seasons. Good luck to Lawrence County! I hope to see Bulldogs biting the competition against soon and I will be watching this coaching search with much interest.

They used to wear the black jerseys all the time to the playoffs and come out to "Back in Black" by AC/DC. A few years ago I was talking to former Ram Coach and asked him where the black jersey idea came from came from and he said that it usually was because "Beechwood, Newport, or Dayton" was burying their season and black was the color you wear to a funeral. So I can understand why they went orange. Black has some bad memories! LOL! :thumb:

And I am sure none of you have anything to do with that. I don't root against them (Russell), I root for them because I think their Staff, their AD, and their kids are all class. And even though it is difficult to do, I can't let some posters at BGP taint my view of the entire program no matter hard it seems like they try. Back to Raceland/Fairview which is really what this thread is supposed to be about, I am confident that Raceland will be more than ready for this game. If not, they might be in for a long night. But these kids want another shot at going to LCA and proving they are better than they were several weeks ago. I believe in them and I believe they can get it done. GO RAMS!
