Should be a good one. Does anyone know what time the scrimmage is today & is this one to be played at Mayfield or Christian Co?

A few observations... 1) Whaaat? No Holy Cross? I thought they were supposed to be really strong this year. I know they're somewhat of an unknown to other parts of the state, but, you'd think they'd get a little more respect in there own neck of the woods... 2) I'm surprised to see Lloyd in the top 10, ahead of HC and a few other schools... 3) Beechwood, imo, is too high...I know they're a strong 1a team and traditional power, but, I'd find it hard to place them ahead of some of the bigger schools like Ryle, Boone Co, etc...I know they have Dixie out of the gate, but, this is a supposed down year for DH, so, I don't know how much you can guage on that one...

Here's your best matchups: 1) Tilghman - Christian Co 2) Ft Campbell - Mayfield 3) F.Simpson - Russellville 4) Trigg Co - Hopkinsville 5) Murray - Calloway Co Caldwell Co - Madisonville could also be a good one...

Noone should be too shocked by the outcome...Franklin is a preseason #4 in Tn 5a this year and expected to be very strong and they're yr in yr out a 5a power...

Look for Ft Campbell to be loaded this year...WC will get better as some of there young kids get a little more experience...

They will put up alot of points because of the schedule they play, but, alot of teams would do the same under similar circumstances. That doesn't mean much once they get into the better competition, most notably, playoff time. I do think they'll be improved defensively, but, I still think they'll have alot of work to be near as good offensively and they'll need to be measurably better on defense to be a contender...I hope they do well, but, I do beleave Calloway will be better and Hopk central will more competitve and on equal grounds this yr with the Flash...That game could go either way...

Murray will be improved but will have a hard time getting out of there own district with Trigg Co(the likely favorite), Caldwell Co(a team with alot returning) and Heath(they'll also be better than alot think), not to mention Ft Campbell, OB Catholic and a few others in D2... Lone Oak will be decent, at best...The experience that alot of those kids got last year in the playoffs will certainly help, but, everything went thru there QB-Robinson, last year and there big play receiver is now there QB..I do think he's more athletic than Robinson was but taking him out of the big play receiver spot will hurt and there's no way he's in the same league passing the ball. I do think they'll be a better running team and there line will be better, but, they'll be nowhere close to having the big play capability and there defense will still be a question mark against good competition and it'll be hard to guage because of there extremely weak non district schedule...

Who will be the big surprises this year? I can see some of these possibly.. When i say surprise, I'm meaning teams not really Top 4-5 teams in there class that could possibly make a run to state or at least the Final 4.... A - Campbellsville...They return alot of kids from last years team who finished strong...I know alot of people think they could be good, but, I doubt many think they'll contend for a title...I think with a break or 2, they could... AA - Desales...Currently in the Top 10 preseason, but, do they have what it takes to make a deep run...Many think not simply because they don't have the long standing tradition of some others, but, from a pure depth and talent standpoint, I think they have a chance... AAA - E'Town...They're coming off a poor season from there standards and will want a little redemption this year...There passing arsenal could be dangerous for 1 or more of the supposed contenders... AAAA - Calloway Co... There offense is more than capable of scoring points on anyone and even though they have to go through a pretty solid district with Lone Oak and Hopkins Central, they're capable of beating any team on the west side to make it to Louisville... AAAAA - Pulaski Co...Very solid last year and have quite a bit coming back...I'm a little surprised they're not ranked a little higher on the preseason poll...A very capable Final 4 team... AAAAAA - Nobody....It's Trinitys or St Xs to lose....

I definately think Christian Co will be the team to beat out west..Owensboro and Hopkinsville will give them a run, but, I believe they have the better talent across the board this year..I also believe they'll give JHardin or BGreen a stern test to reach Louisville this year... Calloway Co will also be very good in 4a...They'll score a bunch of points with a great passing game and better than average running game...The biggest question mark for them is keeping other teams from scoring...If they can just be a little better than average on defense, then they'll be a tough out come playoff time and could make a run to Louisville themselves. I don't believe they could handle Bell or Lex Cath though, who appear head and shoulders above the rest of 4a...

I thought Mayfield was playing Christian Co in a scrimmage today...If CC just played Calloway yesterday, who's Mayfields 2nd scrimmage with today?

I don't think there's much seperation at all between 3 and 7 or 8, but, I do think there's a gap betwen Central and Belfry vs the rest of the 3a field...

What are the other 3 games...

Alot will depend on the line play...They've got some good athletes at the skill positions in X.Shelton, T.Murrell, Richardson and even Guhy(QB) is a good athlete, but, it'll hurt losing "Rump" Noonan this year, as he was another RB capable of breaking one at any time..I expect them to struggle abit early against teams like Tilghman, Ft Campbell and Calloway Co., but, should be a solid 1a team by seasons end..If they can get solid play in the line and stay relatively healthy, as they don't have a ton of depth, they'll definately be in the hunt to make it to Louisville..

I agree, except for for last year..They were pretty solid..I have no idea if that was an aborition or if they're expected to be solid again this year, however..

It's not like Scott Co is the only school that has a big draw on friday nights..I can see a few schools who don't taking the payout, because that's likely more than they would have made from a home gate and I can see them trying to get 2 yr contracts with both games at there place, but, for the most part, these would be schools that aren't competitive and have little backing..I can't see competitive teams accepting contracts like that, regardless of the payout, which makes you question if you want to play as tough a schedule as possible to prepare you for the playoffs or do you forfeit that part for the money...

Yeah, it sounds like they talk out of both sides of there mouths...In one sentence, they're critical about the privates advantage and then the next sentence, they want all the home field advantage..Sounds to me like everythings all good as long as it benefits them, but, cry foul if not...

If the majority of the teams starters are back and weren't talented, then why, just because they're srs are they supposed to be now...I know players improve and get a little stronger, but, non talented jrs don't automatically make talented srs, just because there a yr older, and if they're as talented as you say, they would have won more than 2 games last year. I, for one, don't put much stock in what kids do in 8th and 9th grade, because alot kids will play at the earlier stages and then for various reasons, decide not to play once they reach HS...

I bet if Male were to win by alot and Highlands don't move the ball to well, alot of people will downgrade the importance of the scrimmage and say Mueller was playing alot of kids and experimenting...Funny how it's only important and meaningful when you win them.
