Okay what about this scenario. Trinity moves the Cincy St X game to Louisville St X, either as a double header Friday night or a single game on Saturday? I am not sure we have a copy of "we will rock you" in the press box! Then the Cincy St X band would be allowed to come, as they have been told no if the game is at Trinity. Papa John?

I've mentioned this before. This pits Ky's defending State Champion against Ohio's state champ, who has defeated New Jersey's perennial champs, Indiana's champs and Alabama's champs already this year. Okay they lost to Colerain without their starting QB. St X is returning 4 starters and playing in the smallest stadium they have played in this year. It is time for the Rocks to whup up on the Bombers who have not scored more than 17 points this year. I hope it is a shoot out. Last year, the Rock's offense scored more points than any other team on Cincy St X's schedule with no contribution from Tim Phillips. Let's hope not for just a competitive game but a game to put Kentucky up a notch! As much as this hurts, Go Rocks!

Good Point CF. (BTW, nice seeing the Cardinals on Fox Sports whupping up on the Vikings last night.) To further clarify, the GCL teams have what they call a "reserve team", that is what is on the St X website, that is where the sophomores play, so it is different than the "JV" structure in Kentucky and around. BTW, this X reserve team beat Colerain's JV team 31-0 so hats off to the Lil' Rocks. Conversely, they have an A team and a B team for freshmen in the GCL so they can get reps but that is against KHSAA rules to play that many games. So congrats on a good win but when Cincy St X plays T on the 19th, that's the real test.

That's 13 weeks away. X could be down to their 4th string quarterback by then. (See Manual 2 years ago) The X men would be honored to be on the same field as the Mighty Rocks..... BTW, who would be the home team? Would either team ever want to host at home? If 15K was the expected crowd, could they squeeze the attendance to meet the fire marshall guidelines? How about a big screen on the baseball field since that's where the teenagers would hang out? Temporary stands in the end zones?

Roc4ever: Normally I would agree, that a team losing 63-0 puts it in the grouping such as Butler last year as the measuring stick. But Ballard will be good and they have skill positions and good size along the line. But X showed something in their first 3 TD's that is different than years past- speed at WR and the ability to catch it. Goodwin and Sweeney basically blew past the Ballard DB's and out jumped them for the ball. That doesn't bode well for those that try the smaller faster DB's against the Tigers. I think that Ballard focused on covering the tight end deep and X went outside deep. Matt Brutscher showed nice touch on the deep balls that will open up the running lanes with DBs not thinking run support first. Another thing to consider-I saw no illegal substitution penalties with the mass switches going on every play. Pretty impressive for the first game.

A very good start for the Tigers. Jeremiah Neal ran very well in place of Deuce Finch and ran for 2 touchdowns. D J Hall ran a punt back for a TD in place of Chase Carraro. Devontae Beach looked solid in place of Craig Brutscher at MLB-going both ways. Matt Brutscher goes 8 for 9 in passing and the Tigers put 480 yards in offense with a running clock the entire second half. Buehner explodes on a QB option keeper to score from 14 yards out. Coach even put in "3rd string" TB Deuce Finch in the second half ( who didn't play in the first half) to get some carries and he scores. In all 7 different St X players score TDs with John Taylor getting a safety on Ballard RB Jamar Kirksey. Hip injury to Wyatt Gray allowed Tyler Riggs-soccer player to kick a few into the end zone. Gray on crutches at end so the Tiger faithful need Riggs to kick and Buehner to punt for awhile. Ballard used the "Memphis" method of play calling. No huddle- go to the line and set formation, look over to the sideline , coach calls play, 5 skill players look down at wristband and then they run play. Ballard has size and speed and should win a lot of games this year but their defensive backs hurt them early as Tigers struck for 3 30 yard passing TDS ( Goodwin, Goodwin, and Sweeney) in the first quarter and the rout was on. They "LEFT NO DOUBT!

3OAK- I have been told that Craig has a neck injury, how serious I don't know or if holding him out was precautionary. I hope that it clears because CB is a big part of replacing the 4 LBs from last year. I have no info on the Deuce injury but was told that the backups ran well including lacrosse All-American Chase Carraro who committed to Denver University to play Lacrosse this summer. I learned that Devontae Beach-FB is the brother of former St X RB K J Austin-Bruce who is getting his masters degree in Washington DC area. He is a great example of the type of student athlete produced at St X and is a product of the Hikes Point Lobos. He is a much a superstar as a person as he was on the field. ( I am not saying that other schools don't produce student athletes- i e Eric Senn_THS, Daniel Bracken-FC. I am making the comment that KJ Austin-Bruce was a special person.) Devontae will be a beast and may be the difference maker for his blocking ability this year.

The starting QB's name is Matt Brutscher. At 50-6, I guess the QB's were allright. Like the Packers, sometimes quicker and more accurate doesn't always mean the starter. As to Ballard last year, X was missing a whole bunch of defensive starters so maybe they could of won. Ballard's job was open at the end of the year-did you apply?

It seems as though the big numbers will continue. The CSAA in Louisville will have 89 teams this year in 2008, 26 in 7th and 8th grade, 30 in 5-6th grade, and 33 in the new division this year, 3 and 4th grade. With at least 20 kids on each team, that's 1780 future football stars just from the Catholic schools, two schools of which hail from Indiana. That's roughly 296 kids per class feeding into Trinity, X, Desales and Holy Cross. Those numbers per class are trending down though.

Okay you mention 7. The Tigers have to play PRP and Butler, thats nine. 10th game against Elder, Moeller, Lasalle, Cathedral, Colerain, etc. Enough about X-the thread is about T.

I wasn't trying to make them sound selfish. I was simply inquiring from people close to the Trinity program about their leadership skills. From the times I have been around Mr. Whiting, he seems very intelligent and reserved, sort of like Larry O'Bannon from U of L and Male who I think the world of. But O'Bannon needed Ellis Myles to get after the team. I love that he will be playing for the Buckeyes but I sense that Griffin, Weitlauf, and Stein will be missed. As to BB, if you have a NFL second round pick on this team, more power to you.
