The path to Applebees is long and requires At least 7 wins> Tigers could bow out on May 18th with a tough district loss> but if they make it through the district and of course the tough 7th region of Ballard, Eastern, Trinity, among others 11 games to win state.. along way to go with 14 regular season games to go.

Good summary. BTW, Coach Barry did not get ejected because he was back out there in the 7th inning. This marks the 7th win this season where the Tigers were tied or trailing in their last at bat. Can I get some love for Ryan Cline? One of the numerous scouts there for Daniel Webb asked Cline where he was going. "No one has talked to me"- Wow! A solid hitter and fielder, surely some college needs that!! By the way, the Brinkman kid is getting healthy so the whole lineup gets better. As to Heath making it to Applebee's, the winner of the 1st Region plays the winner of the 3rd region in the semi state ( @ Apollo) then plays the winner of the 5th and 7th region. There's a chance this game could be a preview if all things fall right. Winner gets PRP. Wow, this could be exciting. BTW, I was really impressed with Chad Wright, centerfielder for Heath. UK did well to recruit him. Also impressed with the left fielder Kyle Williams who took one out of Tiger park at about 12:45 AM to defeat Owensboro Catholic. It was between the light post and the 400 foot sign in center. That was a shot!!

If the seniors were better, they would be on the field. Last year, we played seniors because they were seniors and we started 8-7. Once the juniors got more playing time, the ship righted itself. 14-3 means JJ must be doing something right. Our ace is slotted for the district game against Male on Wednesday which is a more important game in the scheme of things.

One split a finger before the game but still played, another tweaked a groin on Saturday and probably shouldn't played and it showed besides the starting left fielder and best hitter ( IMHO ) is still out with an ankle. No excuses-Trinity outplayed X and looked better in execution.

By the way for the Trinity faithful, he's won 76% of the games since he started 6 years ago and has made at least the regional semifinals the last 4 years. Somebody lock him up and reward him. If the Rocks play like that every game, they will go far. If the Tigers play like they did yesterday, they may not win another game. Get healthy Tigers!!

That is correct. Great day of baseball at Tiger Park yesterday with 3 pretty good teams. Game 1 had Moeller up 3-0 going to the sixth as the Tigers push 2 across to make it 3-2 going to the 7th. Tigers hit slow chopper to shortstop in seventh that gets thrown wide and 2 runs score to beat Ohio's finest. After a 4-2 Moeller win against Brentwood in 13 innings, the Tigers go extra again behind Zach Septembre's brilliant 8 innings of no earned runs. Tigers load bases again in the bottom of eighth with Kal Scheler up. Count goes full before a low pitch for ball four sends home crowd home happy. Wins over Alabama (2), Tennessee, (3) Indiana, and Ohio teams in last week should ready the Tigers for a spring break trip against Alabama's finest and hopefully Kentucky's finest too. Tigers dropped a spot in coaches poll this week too. Oh well, can't impress everybody.

Tigers runs mark to 6 and 0. JUmp out to 7 to 1 behind Kyle Just's pitching, and Scheler, Zoeller, and Sweeney. Bullitt East puts in Alphin, solid sophomore pitcher who gives up 1 hit in 3 innings and shuts down X offense which had scored at least 10 every game so far. Hoffman from BE hits longest ball ever at Tiger Park by hitting one out over the scoreboard in left center. BE makes it close at 7-4 and X brings in Justin Amlung to close it for the Tigers. Prognosis on the injured left fielder Brinkman- light jogging maybe by end of week after 6-8 day with 3 doubles and a yard ball for the Yigers against Madison and Voncennes Lincoln on Daturday Tigers looking good so far as whole line up seems to be hitting. Truth will come out against better teams but BE is pretty good.

I think that most public school teams will fill in using 8th graders to fill out the freshmen teams if they have them. Male uses "purple shirts" to designate additional players on the team that may improve and be on the main team in the future.

LB's will be be Craig Brutscher who recently moved from DL, McCormick, Patrick Kilkelly and Possibly DJ Hall with 2 JV LB under consideration for the other spots. Db will be Galbraith and Kamber at CB, Hall, Sears and Burckle at safety.

Was Dixie Heights a better team? Did they outcoach T or did they make plays? Was Stein's interception in the 4th quarter bad coaching? Or did he just make a poor throw on that throw and a good throw on the pass to Neagli? If D J Hall sacks Stein before the release to Neagli, was that bad coaching? Players made plays on both sides. It was tied after regulation and Trinity picks up 9 yards on their first down run, and then they dive in from the one. X picks up 2 on their first down. They were averaging 6 yards and got 2. It would of been easy to run it if Duece picked up 9. X tries to pass so second guessers say he should of run. Think about this-how many times did X score in the game and what method did they use the most to score on that night? Congrats to the Rocks and Tigers for a great game settled on the field. As to 2008, I don't think X and T will meet in the playoffs. X will be there again.

From a good source, they are leaning to going to UK and trying to walk on. Same thing different school with Wes Weitlauf, Will Stein, and Alex Kupper but these 3 will be going to U of L. So with Robey, Whiting, Brock Messina, and Tim Phillips as D1, that might of been the greatest assortment of D1 talent ever at Trinity.

Murdered? Wow, that is strong. Not seeing the call, I can't comment on the validity of foul/non-foul. Officiating is all about angles. From your angle, it looked like a foul underneath. However you were probably 45 foot away looking through moving players. Many times the players fall to the ground because they are off balance. This player jumped twice within 3 seconds so he/she might of been off balance. In this case of the made basket, you admit the player got hit. Protection of the airborne shooter is key. So by your own admission, they got one right. Referees get on the average grading get about 97 % of the calls right. They do a great job but not every call makes fans, players, and coaches happy.

The lead goes to Hornung with my vote. Winning state titles means you have the best team (on that night! LOL Luv ya Mike!). Mr Football was Doug Beaumont in 2006 and Robinson from Lone Oak in 2007. There are 10 ( 4 + 6) teams of players that won titles but none were better than those two the last two years. If winning titles and throwing TD's are the criteria, then why isn't Will Stein or Nick Petrino mentioned? #1 rated QB?-So was Ryan Leaf and Jeff George. Hornung High School- Mythical State Championship College- Heisman Trophy Winner Pro- NFL Champion, Hall of Fame Inductee Brian Brohm High School- Won 3 of 18 state championships at Trinity. College -MVP of Orange Bowl Pro-Likely mid to late first round pick. No comparison. Brian elevated U of L more because he took them to a spot they had never been before. THS won before Brian, they won after.

What about the three kids who scored TDs in the state final game off that team. Flynn (2006), Weitlauf (2007), and Brinkman (2007). Yes,they did lose to Mt Carmel in OT during the regular season but avenged the loss in the Toy Bowl. Let's not forget Nathan Miller from Manual was pretty good too.!!

I think it would be valid to note what week of the season when Trinity and HHS would play. If during the regular season early, the nod goes to Highlands, based on turnovers and defense. Later in the season, when there is considerable tape to view, I would go with the Rocks.

Agreed. Knowing these fine young men, I can attest that they will represent St X, Floyd County Catholic,Holy Trinity, and the entire Louisville and Kentucky area well at the academies. On a side note, CDF, I hate COLD WEATHER!!!

I have seen the seams on an artificial turf come undone so it is good to inspect all fields. Lawsuits are no fun these days. OLdham County used to have a cement jumping pit right off the end zone that we had to place pads on every game. South Oldham had probably the worst field before it was replaced for ruts. Every grass field had to be checked when the team had a good soccer team that played on a rainy Thursday night late in the season.

This is an interesting point of view. The rules don't change-I would teach and coach the strictest interpretation of the rules. I sense that if you know the referees aren't going to enforce a rule, then you can coach to take advantage of the referees non-calls. Example- 11 people on the field at one time. 12th man getting off the field like the Giants in the Super Bowl. It seems like you are asking officials to tell you at what point you will flag the 12th man-at the numbers, outside the numbers, behind the outside referee -meanwhile if you coach to have 11 on the field at all times, it shouldn't be a problem. In the NFL, there was no grey area. But ask yourself this-if you are the special teams coach and the ref throws a flag on your team on that play in a Friday night game, how many coaches would of jumped all over the ref for calling too tight? How would you feel if on senior night all 30 seniors go out for the coin toss and the referee only allows the legal limit of 4 in the middle of the field? That's the referee's fault? Coach to the rules.
