It is 1.9 miles down from exit 14 on the right. Once you get to Audubon Hospital, start looking for parking. You might want to park in the hospital parking lot if you get there after 7:10. There is alot of parking at St X but something tells me, this may be a big crowd. The last 2 playoff games have not been very crowded. I parked in the main lot arriving at 7:15. This is not my suggestion but other teams that have fans that arrive early and maybe those fans have adult beverages in coolers in their cars may find George Rogers clark park across from St X a good meeting spot to discuss the game. It has a pavillion. Of course those more civilized may find Chilis, J gumbos, qdoba, and panera bread more to your liking. If fast food is better for your schedule, DQ, Taco Bell, Wendys, and McD will be on poplar Level. Of course, if you go past St X you are into Germantown so every corner just about has a pub. Suggest you leave the SK jacket in the car! If you get a chance, get there early and walk around the campus. The tennis and baseball complexes are one of the nicest in Ky along with the basketball arena. The press box and suites are nice and even have an elevator. We look forward to seeing you.

I will agree on all points. From a St X person, this team on face value is not as talented as the last 2 years but at the end of the season, the run through NKY with Covington Catholic, Boone Co and Ryle just has the faithful looking at each other saying each week how well this team plays. They have been on a roll. The losses that X has had, both this year and in the recent past, has happened when 2 things happen. 1)The defensive front eight outplay the O line of X Cincy St X would of been successful had they scheduled just Ohio teams- teams they could of beaten- Miami, Ohio U, Kent State, Wittenberg, Mt St Joe, Akron, etc. They were the largest team to ever play against Lou St X and number 8 and 10 at DE's with their LBs shut down the running game and forced X to pass. 2) X makes mistakes they don't normally make. How can a 300 pound lineman jump offsides 4 times against a 187 pound defensive end? How can a pass thrown into double coverage slip through one of the most surehanded DBs, How can a Mr Football candidate QB misfire on 3 quick stay passes? Unfortunately for SK, this team is playing too well right now. Maybe they could come out in Trinity black jerseys but I see it 31-17 in favor of X.

DD- I agree that getting BK back healthy has helped the passing game. What I don't understand is the Lexington Catholic game, end of the year, all systems go, all healthy, and 93 yards rushing and a last minute TD to pull it out. This team played well last week, arguably the best game of the year against a very good passing team in Shelby County. I don't know if Trinity will use the same formula as they used against Manual, and keep pounding away.

Couldn't agree with you more. When Trinity runs the ball, they have been successful. When they don't,they struggle Lawrence North 70, Elder 106, Lou St X, 67, Lex Cath 93. When teams run against them, it keeps the offense off the field. Male is probably a 80-20 run to pass. IF Male controls the line of scrimmage, they can have success. Should be a good game.

Here is a couple of observations from my point of view. 13 seconds in 7-0. 52 seconds in-14-0. After first offensive play 21-0, after 3 minutes. X started fast, played fast, and decided the game in the first 3 minutes. With that said, it has to be noted that this is not a defense like the last couple of years. Boone threw successfully on them- let me repeat that- Boone THREW successfully on them. The success of the overall defense will depend on the health of the kids sitting out right now. Offensively, Brohm had a nice delivery to the speedy Hall but the running game is where St X will win. With Mcmurray, Neal, Hayden, and Montano, they have 4 backs that can go if they get past the LOS. In the Cincy St X game, the front 8 shut down the run and forced them to pass. But then again, the Bombers have 36 people playing college ball right now( 9 per class) so they may be a touch more talented than what is in front of them. What is in front of the Tigers is a 8-3 team that only lost to Simon Kenton and Highlands. Good luck Tigers.

In baseball, the umpires will definitely stop the game if you play music during play. What's funny is compare that to what you see at a u of L baseball game or a Bats or Legends game? There is a lot of stuff going on between pitches. Basketball- use of the artificial noise makers is prohibited and many times the officials had to tell the schools game management to collect the noisemakers before the start of the game. In football, I think Highlands had a case where the Elder band played during the play and the officials "asked" them to stop. Nothing in the rules and you are removed more from the fans. Maybe the St X fan base can buy up all of the airhorns in the state next time Trinity plays Ballard. I would hate to have our poor Shamrocks have to listen to nothing but Coach Coverdale and Beatty.

I can attest to having witnessed Offside body of work that he is among the elite. One thing about this forum is that an official will not call out an official because 1) we weren't there and 2) we are getting information through the interpretation of a fan or a coach. 3) Basically against a code of professionalism and ethics. With that in mind, if a question is posed like Team A is running for a touchdown on a scrimmage run and during the play, Cameraman A, while within the team box, steps onto the field and collides with the linesman on that side we could comment on that. Notice that it doesn't incite deep inner feelings about having to drive hours away for a playoff game! With the exposure that particular play got, it would be not in the best interest to say it was the right call or the wrong call. One question to ask yourself is was the foul a violation of the rule book. If it is, then the official is in his right to throw the flag. Second thing is when the official reports the foul, then it is on the whole crew to make sure it is enforced correctly. Case in point- Team A is a very highly ranked team playing a perennial also ran who is having a good year, but doesn't match up physically. The also ran plays their heart out but the stronger team is about to push across the go ahead touchdown in the 4th quarter. On first and goal from the 2 yard line, the offense throws a quick slant to the Wide receiver but the defensive back steps in front of the pass and goes 98 yards to seal the upset. Our somewhat inexperienced umpire has a live ball mouthpiece equipment violation against the defense. It was a quick discussion among all 5 of us that one, that wasn't going to be called and b) had no affect on the play. We ate the flag and got in position for the extra point but that was a crew ( led by the referee) decision.

I hate to point out the obvious but Boone's opponents have a 63-29 record this year. They have 3 teams that they have played with losing records but 2 are still undefeated, one has one loss and 3 have only 2 losses. The old scheduling adage that you schedule 3 wins, 4 teams even with you, and 3 above doesn't fit for Boone. They scheduled 2 wins, 2 even and 6 above them based on this years achievements, not historical opinion. Methinks the Tigers of St X should not underestimate the Rebels based on their record. As to the offensive play calling, it seems like the defense has given up a bunch of points- that may be because the offense doesn't sustain a drive but Colerain seems to be a run only team and they do okay.

I don't dispute the information Shamrock 69- the KHSAA only has records to 1959 but the St Xavier website has 1956 and 1957 on it also. I wasn't around then but I'll take their word on it. Here is the total from their website. This is like the NFL not recognizing the AFL championships because it was before the merger. Whatever the number, St X is behind in football and you know what they say if you arent the lead dog, the view is still the same! Still St X hasn't had a bad run with 141 total. I will concur with you that any St X fan that thinks that number 36 or state title 13 or win 15 for 2009 is in the bag, please see 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008 years for reference. I don't know why a Division 1 running back running behind a division 1 lineman gets stopped at the 1 by a converted offensive lineman but it happened on the state title game in 2005. I don't know why St X is at the 1 yard line ready to make it a 2 score game and jumps offsides and drops the game deciding interception but it happened in 2007. I don't know why the fullback is 3 for 3 on the year on halfback passes for TDs and the receiver is open by 15 yards again on that night and we throw a duck in the middle of the field. I don't know why St X waits until they fall behind 21-0 before they start playing in 2008. Some will say coaching on both sides so if that theory is correct then the X men are in trouble this year. If X makes it to Bowling Green and somehow advances against Trinity, then maybe those players from 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008 will be asked to join them on the field. Until then, keep the head down and stay focused.

I would agree X has better players but that hasn't caused Trinity to come out on top before. The difference this year seems to be a couple of things that I noticed 1) Trinity doesn't seem to punch it in once they get it down the field. They amassed alot of yards and should of led at halftime. Kragthorpe was 18-22 at the half. Whether it is a holding call, or a fumble, it seems to be a pattern going back to the Moeller Scrimmage. 2) Defensively the Rocks are young and seem to not grasp the schemes as well as Jordan Whiting, and Brock Messina and company has done the last couple of years. They will get better but will it be in time with the number of sophomores. 3) Gotta give the X coaching staff some props. After Trinity completed changed the defense for the playoff game last year, the coaching staff made changes and almost came back in the second half of the semifinals. Those changes were evident last night as Trinity brought out the same defense again. Coach Glaser said at half time, Cover 3, we're going to run, cover 2, we're going to pass on his half time speech. 4 wide, slanting to the left, X audibles to a run away from the slant again and again. Buehner did a good job getting them to jump offsides by changing cadence. New coaches bring new techniques. 4) Trinity has scored 28 points the last 2 playoff games against X in regulation. I don't know if they can score that many this year. 14 points a game going into last night. I don't know if they just gave up trying to run the ball but throwing 40 times a game is leaves Kragthorpe vulnerable, thus the 5 sacks. On a side note, I didn't get a good look on the Buehner pump fake/fumble/incomplete pass in the 2nd quarter. I'd like to know other opinions if you saw the play.

Just answer this question- Do you feel that Trinity a) slight edge b)on par c) competitive with or d) fell short in comparison to St.Xaviers sports program in 2008-2009? I really think IMVHO that most Rock supporters would choose one of the first three choices because of the result in December.

Some Trinity people are very nice. Some St X people are very nice. Lets leave it at that.

I have to politely disagree. The high school rules are set up for safety and not to bring notice to the individual. The proper mechanic for penalties is to point the direction of the offending team, not to single out the offending player. Technology advances need to be universal across all of the high schools nationwide. Can every school afford to put a broadcast quality mic ( and batteries, and a back up unit) and wireless receiver? I know a lot of fine referees that get hampered with a bad microphone, so much that it reflects poorly on them. What happens when the scoreboard keeps going out? You pull the plug and keep the time on the field. MIcrophones are great when the school has invested a good amount into the system. Otherwise, it takes away from the game and the kids.( imvho)

. My completely unbiased view in order is 2002, 2007, 2006. I rank them according to the teams they beat or played 2002 Elder- simply dominated the Ohio state champions after the fumble at Ryle. Also won the game of the century against Male 59-56 in final 2007- Came back to defeat a pretty good St X team ( notice the lack of use of the word "best") in OT in the final. Also played #1 in nation Cincy St X to the fourth quarter at their place. Most TD passes thrown in a season. 2006- Beat a tremendously Division 1 talented Male team and Henry Clay enroute to state title

2008 regional Coach of the year followed up with a 26-5 record last year. I am stuck here in the 6th and 7th region but BC was down here last weekend playing and I was impressed by the teaching and coaching. If there are 8 coaches better than 26-5, then hats off to them. He was the last team to beat Holmes last year and almost beat them again in the final. Once again, thats just from my view from on the court but it seems like he should get some more respect.

What about the regional runner up to eventual state champion Greg McQueary at BC? You gotta give him some props!
