2008 regional Coach of the year followed up with a 26-5 record last year. I am stuck here in the 6th and 7th region but BC was down here last weekend playing and I was impressed by the teaching and coaching. If there are 8 coaches better than 26-5, then hats off to them. He was the last team to beat Holmes last year and almost beat them again in the final. Once again, thats just from my view from on the court but it seems like he should get some more respect.

It also helps that Boone has some of its best 2-3 consecutive, talented classes in sometime. I think Boone's coaches did a better job this past season. Boone is poised to have another good year. After that, it may start to drop off a little, especially in 2 years.

That's why Holmes and Cov Cath and New Cath are always going to be the top jobs in the area and whoever is coaching there is always going to be considered a top coach. Because those programs are always going to have enough talent to win. So what comes first, the chicken or the egg? I say you don't get a job there without being a good coach. And the same is true for Boone County. McQueary can coach and deserves to be considered one of the best in the 9th region.

This is an interesting statistic and I see where you are going and it makes sense. However, I think that the percentage of athletes at certain schools is greater than at others. Holmes and Cov Cath may have less boys roaming the halls than say Boone County, but out of those boys I would say that Holmes and Cov Cath have a higher percentage of athletes. People go to Holmes and Cov Cath with the intent of playing sports. Now on to the coaching. I agree with whomever says that Coach Mcqueery is one of the best. You can not be successful no matter what your talent level is if you cannot coach. Especially not to the extent that Boone County has. Is he top five? I think after Coach Henley that it is a toss up of opinions. There are some very good coaches in nky and that is what makes for so much parity among the teams. I look for Coach Flynn at Highlands to have a stellar year. Good coach and great team.

Yes, but how many of those sophomores will actually make the varsity team this year since Boone has so many seniors? I agree that no coach wins without at least some talent. Boone had a school record 26 victories this past season, so I think it is safe to say that it will drop off before too long.

I agree. Catholic and other private schools will often have more athletes per capita than most public schools.

The sophomore class is pretty talented, so I would imagine that 5 or 6 including Down's and McQueary's sons.

It's about time someone included Brannen. In 3 years, he has won the All A twice and the district twice.
