  1. Congrats to Highlands on the State Championship and for being the only undefeated team in Kentucky.
  2. Congrats to Trinity on the W. Santa has come early again. Merry Christmas...
  3. I am being serious. Thanks for taking it lighthearted, nobody likes to have their name misspelled...
  4. Rock faithful please accept my misspelling of coach Cov's name. It was not intentional.
  5. I would think that after all of the turmoil at UofL this past year and all of the uncertianty, Robey will choose the UK Wildcats........ and be like his daddy.
  6. How can X be favored over: 17, Beatty, Roby, Stein, Weitland, Whiting, Cloverdale... You would have a hard time selling that reasoning to a street rover with his last 50 cents on the Vegas strip......
  7. With the weather forecast becoming a little clearer as we approach Championship weekend, Do you see that this could change the strategy of Offensive Coordinators ? If it rains and rains steadly, I would anticipate that passing teams will attempt to pass less. I know that sounds like a no brainer, but depending on the amount of wind and rain, good passing teams can opperate under these adverse conditions. It may not be facter. Then again, the elements could deterioriate to the point that passing the football is ineffective... If this happens, strategies must change.... :irked:
  8. Lots of good insight here guys. Thanks for the different outlooks. With the change in the talent pool as far as potential students being restricted at Male, I see this as the main point the Red MAY want to leave. If this situation truly does exist, then I can see that it would be highly propable that he could go if offered. However, setting up camp at an old camp, may not be the most pleasant of things to do at his age. He was at Ballard befor, (cant recall if he left on his own or was released..?) and they (adminstration) may NOT want him back..... In any event, it will not be an overnight turnaround. This will require several years to be competitive with the likes of Trinity with a new system etc...... Just how many more years does Red have left coaching? Honest question...? Starting a new program, all new assistant coaches etc. is a lot of work. From one of the post above, Ballard had not really supported the concept of teachers and coaches. What makes one think that they can "recruit" the top tallent in the area (Bush's, Beaumont's, etc.) to Ballard? If he cant get the tallent he wants then is he gong to be better than staying at Male??? Its really no big deal to me, just an interesting topic. Best wishes to all coaches involved in this transition time.
  9. I would kinda be surprised to see Red move from Male. He has had success there and they do get their fair share of athletes. Male's facilities are better than Ballards?? Im not sure but, I am not aware that one can recruit students at Ballard (unless they play basketball or soccer...). All kidding aside, What would be the advantage for Red to move to Ballard???? Somebody help me here....
  10. There are some great assistant coaches out there..... Would be a great opportunity for someone to develope their own system. Ballard has good athletes. I think that Catlett struggled to get that signature win, thus not being able to get the kids to believe in themselves, in general... I understand he is a nice person. Hope he goes somewhere and has success...
  11. Thanks for sharing BC: This is great testamony as to why the St. X supporters are anticipating a close, hard fought game. The Tigers will be focused and ready to play. There should be no reason not to be totally prepared and ready to play. Should be a great game to watch. GO TIGERS.... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
  12. Beaty is the greatest head coach. No question on that. Will the Rock community continue to support him IF he comes up short? It is just a question, I too, would think he could or should stay forever. His track record is unparralled. I highlight the IF because the Rocks are the defending two time state champs, it is theirs till somebody takes it away....... I would anticipate with the success he has had that he would be above reproach. We won't be treated like coach S or other sport coaches.
  13. I agree with some of the other T fans. No way we can win this game. I am really surprised that many of the Rock supporters have given up on their team and truly believe that they will not put up a fight. I would think that this would have to be somewhat discouraging for the players. I think the Rocks will play hard, spirited and creative football. Just does not seem like true Trinity supporters to give up on their team like this...?
  14. Thanks for the surperlatives, yet I'm not seeing the X posters claiming anything but a close game... In all do respect, the Tiger posters are giving great respect to the Trinity program, rightfull so. Why do the Rock faithful have to play the poor me, we arn't any good senerio???? Everyone know it will be a very tough, hard fought, highly contested game. May the best team win..... After 2005, I think we will be prepared to play a sound game for 48 minutes..... :thumb:
  15. Come on JR - Everyone knows Trinity is a Football school. Its unfair to compare the complete sports programs of the two....
  16. ^^ The real question is not that X "has to win" but What is Trinity going to do if Beaty Loses?? Will Lampley releave him of his services? That is the pressure I see. The Rock faithfull have become accostomed to winning on a regular basis. Could Cloverdale, the greatest assistant coach in the world take over?? Just how long will he be happy being the "assistant" coach? Better keep up that win at all cost approach....
  17. ^ Tiger2023 - You are right about those weaknesses. I was just tring to keep it on the positive side. Its just really kinda funny to here these Rock supporters claim how much an underdog they are etc., but they will sure remind you of their 16 state championships...... I'm quite surprised that they dont support their own team a little more. I would think they would be more postive towards their beloved Shamrocks.
  18. The Game as I see it: Trinity - Comes into the game playing its best ball of the year and riding the arm and shoulders of Mr. Football candidate Stein. Just having broke BB's single season record for TD passes, the Rock offense will have a few things to say on Saturday night... . With LB's that would make Jopa smile, the Rock D is solid as it has ever been. I have heard a few Rock posters say that the special teams need improvement, well, that might be the case, yet I'm confident that the Rock coaching staff will put in a few new wrinkles.... St. Xavier - Enters the game on a 14 game win streak playing its best ball of the year as well. Having delt with injuries and continuing to do so, this bunch of Tigers has responded in a very positive manner. Montano, Knotts and Neal have been a very pleasant development in the absence of Finch. The Offense has started to exploit weapons such has Zoller (running and passing), Thomas (receiving), Brown (receiving) etc. This ho hum offense is "pretty good".... OL quickness and strength has shown some improvment this year. Strengths: Trinity => T offense is on fire. Has demonstrated the the last 9 weeks that no one can defend this multidementional attack. I look for the Rock offense to use a very controlled passing game coupled with the delayed draws and sweeps of Phillips. Look for misdirection plays on long yard situations. The Dutton twins with Ratcliff make this a dangerous receiving core. Screens and draws are the keys for the Rocks, throw in a few long balls as well for good measure. The O line will benefit from Roby going both ways to help open holes for the running game and pass protection. St. Xavier => Strength has to include the defense which has allowed less than 7 points per game this year. Given up a total of 10 points in 4 playoff games. LB play as well as D line play has highlighted this run. D backs are seasoned as well. Quickness has been the key to this Tigers D. Group has played as a cohesive unit this season. One wonders how they would respond if put in a hole, as in scoreboard? Weaknesses: Trinty => None to mention St. Xavier => None to mention Special Teams: We all know this could be a deciding factor. Both have the talent and coaching to make big plays on special teams. Somewhere in the game, this will swing momentum... Outcome: Rock running game against X DL and LB's X running game against Rock DL and LB's Rock passing attack vs X D X passing attack vs Rock D Special Teams: Field Goals.....KO returns and punts.... I know how I want the game to go, but in all reality, its just like Strawberries = > YOU PICK EM... Good Luck to both teams. May the best team win. GO TIGERS...
