  1. Sounds as if this is going to be a barn burner for sure. Good Luck to both teams. I hope that the Raiders can get the W this time around. I will be listening via the web. Heres to what makes high school basketball what it is in Kentucky. Have fun and keep it all in perspective....... :ylsuper:
  2. ^ Why do you recommend the Freshman Coach for the Head Varsity Job?
  3. Glad to see him Happy and enjoying his tenure at Minnesota. I'm not convinced he really enjoyed his later years in Lexington.... Im Happy for the Tubster...
  4. One would think that Alan "Mitch" D. has done his homework on this and has a few candidates lined up for further review. I would be surprised that it is a national search. In all reality, Basketball is a small portion of a piece of the pie. Academics are the vast majority of what is emphasized and where the money is spent. Yes, I know the project X was some $28MM yet it was via private donations. I would be surprised if it goes outside Jefferson Co.. Just don't see X making the commitment to do a national search, relocation package and bring in a new coach ( and staff) for basketball. We are talking about $200K+ for all of that..... It would be exciting if such an event occured, yet Im not counting on it happening. Better get someone who can fill those seats in the new arena.... IMHO, people tied to the St. X program of the past will not be able to promote and push the program forward with the success that is needed. Too much politics... Lord only knows what talent has gone through St. X in the past 20 + years only to not be of the chosen...
  5. Who are the potential candidates for the Head Coach position at St. X. Seriously - Who, Why and whats the probability.....
  6. Joe B. is a great man and individual. He has his own style in coaching and philosophy on off season activities. 20+ years is long enough to prove that you can do the job and get it done. He has done a good job at X coaching. I would not say overachiving or anything like that, but it is "time for a change". It is no secret that the Tiger Basketball program is really a joke. Freshman and JV teams have traditionally won >85% of their games (Past 20 years) only to end up marginally above .500 at the varsity level. Post season play has been a problem way befor Bergy. Donlon was "replaced" because he could not win a district championship... The players, students, school and alumni deserve better than what the program is producing. All of these comments are directed to the "court" situation as it exist. As far as molding young men into leaders etc., Joe does a very good job at that.... This situatuion reminds me a lot of UK football. Are you satisfied with a 4 - 7 record? A lot of folks say sure, we play in the SEC, we are supposed to get beat.... Well, having a loosing record in Basketball at St. X for many years is NOT acceptable. Neither is a winning percentage marginally over .500. With the construction of the new arena and declining support for the program, a major change is needed and welcomed. Thanks Coach B for your efforts and commitment to the St. X B-ball program. Hope you remain in the St. X community. As to the new coach: This is why the AD's run around always smiling because they have nothing to do..... Now, Alan has to make a decision. Hire from with in (Porta) or go outside and totally rebuild the program. I would imagine that Porta feels as if he is the "next in line" to take the job. If someone from the outside is brought in, who knows what will shake down.... Interesting times ahead.... Might be best to clear house and start a new.....
  7. Should we get excited or is this just a blip on the radar???? Impressive win by the cats. Time will tell if they have got things straigten out......
  8. My comment had nothing to do about OTS or Pitino. Im just saying that prior to both of them, UK very rarely lost at Miss St. Thats all. Dont read more into it then what the stat is.... Here's to hoping they turn it around.....
  9. Is that the only Miss St. victory over the cats prior to OTS? I doubt it, yet I would anticipate that they have won less than 25 games prior to 1996.
  10. Just a question guys..... What is the UK vs. Miss. St. all time record in head to head competition? What was the record befor OTS, with OTS??? It just seems to me that many years ago, it would just about be a laugher for UK to play Miss St at Miss St. UK used to beat these teams to a pulp..... Times have changed thats for sure. This kid is hoping the Cats can turn it around and make the NCAA tournament. If they can get that far and win a game or two, that would truly be a very good season for this team and coach. Obviously, they would have to overacheive to do that, but that is what UK basketball is all about, overachieving..... Just not seeing it thus far....
  11. St. X is 2-7 and LIT bound. In all fairness to other teams, how can this be? I think this is another sign that the LIT ratings are heavy on the salt.... Is it possible that the Tiger B-ball team will get 8 wins this season? Not looking to favorable for a winning season, again...... :sssh:
  12. You know whats funny? A Rock supporter claims a photo is "conclusive" evidence that Phillips did not fumble. A bunch of other Rock supporters jump in and interpret it as a done deal, no fumble. All Rock supporters are happy they can now claim they beat St.X without X faithful claiming "what if.." St.X supporters have accepted the result of the game. No need to discuss further what woulda, shoulda , coulda... (as evident by the lack of X posters on this tread...) Many neutral folks have logged in and viewed the picture in question, nearly all, if not all, intrepret the photo to showing a fumble... Pretty funny and interesting I think....... ALL have a great holiday. Safe Travels for all as well.
  13. Every Zoo needs at least four....... J/K => Of all the games I have seen this year, they all did a very good to excellent job. My hats off to them and their service. :thumb::thumb::thumb:
  14. You miss understood my comment, or I miss represented my thought.... Oh well, I am very proud of our young men and program for all of their on the field and classroom accomplishments. I was refering my previous post to the "football" school. :thumb::thumb::thumb:
  15. ^ ^ Yep, Santa may not be so nice next year. Enjoy this years GIFT.
  16. Thanks for sharing this with us JR. You know what the difference is, its just a shame others dont..... :thumb:
  17. Tigers should be solid in many areas, they need to be more than solid.....
  18. Really gone to take some hard thinking to not put the defending champs as preseason no 1. Tigers will be back in the same boat as this past year. NO 6A team deserves any preseason or during the season no 1 ranking other than the rocks. Until someone takes them OUT, they are no 1.
  19. X should be position to have a pretty good year in 2008. Lets see how it all plays out... I saw a lot of good things from the JV bunch this year. Hopefully that will transpire to greater things on the Varsity level.
  20. They pay him to win football games only. And he wins a lot of them. Better get a 6figure package ready to offer....
  21. Truly a great season. Congrats to all coaches, players, parents and any others associated with the program. My hats off to you guys. You guys really know how to win with "CLASS".
