Whitfield is the best all around player I've seen this year. SK with too many turnovers towards the end of the first half that carried to the second half. SO maybe was off a little bit the first half but SK kind of self inflicted. #10 Schmiade is actually another freshman. For some reason, she is on roster and game announcements as a soph. SK has 4 Freshman, 8 Sophomores, 1 junior and 2 Seniors. Should be a fun team to watch for the next few years.

Williamstown has had some teams that have given SK fits in the past but I occasionally leave a game wondering if it is really necessary to have home and away season match-ups to determine district seeding. This was one of those nights. Looks like the tone of the season has been set; if the opposition's guards can't match-up with SK's guards and the trapping pressure, it spells success for SK. A big portion of SK points in the wins have been off of the other team's TO's. Besides the game, The Grant County Jaguars Special Olympics team got to play in between the varsity and JV games. The half-time entertainment was also really good; dance team with a fund raiser for Toys for Tots and were accompanied on the floor by male members of the student body. There was one young man who did some things defying gravity.

My abacus was smoking a bit but I counted 5 players who fouled out; 4 GC and 1 SK, Swanson.

The most foul laden high school game I've ever seen. SK shot 51 foul shots. 63 total fouls in the game. The 4th quarter seem like it took 45 minutes. At one stretch, there must have been 12 possessions in a row where one team or the other fouled. Both teams pressed from the start and never stopped.

Awesome game to take in. I got there expecting a bigger crowd than what ended up turning out. Wasn't a bad crowd but I just expected bigger considering it was the best two teams in the tri-state. Princeton looked to be bitten buy injury bug. One starter wearing an ACL brace left the game in the first and never returned. I hope she is OK. Two other players in sweats on the bench. The game was exactly what I expected. Great athletes and basketball. Glad I made the trip to Flo-town. RE, I agree with you on trying to have #3 freshman guard Mitchell. Mitchell kind of lit it up during that phase of the game. She is tough to guard even for a seasoned player. You guard her close and she is doing a reverse lay-up, stay off her and she has in the gym range. Nell ended up switching back but not before #3 almost broke her ankles trying to keep up with that crossover. Didn't understand Nash being on the bench so much. Maybe Nell thought the pace was too much? Would have also thought the elder Switzer should have been on the court more. I guess what I am saying RE is I'm not sure about the supporting cast once you get past #25 Mitchell. I may be mistaken but two of the players with signigicant minutes saw quite a bit of JV time and Boone JV ended up winning that game. (That was wild as well, Boone up 30-19 going into 4th and holds on to a two point win that they probably should have lost.) Those that were there saw a great girls' high school game.

I'm just glad there is finally some discussion here! I was beginning to think everyone was gone. One thing for sure, the 8th is more open this year than it has been in a long time. It has somewhat been a 2 or 3 horse race the last several years. I don't think that will be the case come time for March play.

Nope, if you just don't reply to his preposterous blabbering, he goes away or starts calling for the head coach’s job. Unless I don’t catch who his post is from, I try not to respond. Most of the ramblings are so outlandish that they don’t even create good fodder at this point. There are some really knowledgeable and objective SK fans here, most notably Neerfan with his 25,000+ posts.

Panda- I think those new lights you installed make a dramatic difference. Highlands was just elevated to worst lit gym in Northern KY.

Schmiade, Robinson and Figgins were the Frosh who played in the Varsity game. My guess their likelihood of getting varsity minutes depends on their grasp of the man defense. Not positive of this but I think there are only 3 upper classmen on the team.

I liked how they looked; have some decent depth and some kids who can get after it. They'll be fun to watch. Looking forward to seeing the opener on Tuesday.

SK scrimmaged Highlands yesterday; thought they looked pretty good. Not sure of the scores but I think they beat Highlands in each frame of the scrimmage. You always think of defense with SK but the thing that kind of stood out to me was the offense. Yeah, same defensive system and intensity was there but I have a feeling they'll score a few more points this year. A very, very young team =mainly all sophs and frosh.

I agree. I think their record will be improved over last year but this will be their challenge. Their three leading rebounders from last year all graduated. Their big man still on the roster had 6 rebounds all of last year.

No way some of those estimated heights are even close. SK's perpetual challenge is size and it it even a bigger challenge this year.

A little late but anyway...

I hope it closes the book on one thing and BGP SK boards can get back to the way they used to be. Relevant and realistic discussions about one of the sports programs in a great school in a great community.

Lots of new starters for SK; I hardly recognized a lot of the kids this year. Most notable difference in the LB corps. I like the idea of the sophomore at QB; builds program in longer run but agree with Neer, needs some more bulk. Impressed with the discipline of St. X on the sidelines, on the field although a couple of the 15 yarders were a little surprising. I'm pretty sure I saw Swanson selling Kettle Corn tonight. He returned kicks, held the one blocked FG, played back, receiver, safety etc...he's going to be sore tomorrow. Kuntz on one of the runs for his life described by Neer. Very nice interception by St. X. Derek Iles with a flying jersey tackle.

Oh yeah, one of the two loudest stompers in Northern KY, the other one wears heels. He's an amimated coach for sure. Good luck Coach.
