The two players above accounted for 65 points tonight. Pretty impressive showing for both.

What a game! The Mitchell twins vs. Moss. All had outstanding games. In the end, I think Princeton had a better supporting cast around the Mitchell twins than Moss had around her. Moss came out smoking knocking down jumpers like milk jugs at the county fair. She was awesome as Boone built a nice lead. Kelsey Mitchell is an outstanding talent and has a crossover that is wicked, great vision, sweet stroke and great court sense. Her sister Chelsea is also very good. Both fundamentally sound. Boone is going to need some other players to step up and take some pressure off of Moss. When she turned the ball over at the end of the game, you could tell she was just spent. One thing that perplexed me was why in the world Nell would go with two frosh in the lineup to start the second half. One of them was attempting to guard Kelsey Mitchell and was just getting dominated. I don't think I would put a frosh on the top prospect (2014) in the country, would you?? One of Boone's starters (no. 4) did not even get in the game in the second half. Strange.

Overall, a very entertaining game and lots of talent on the floor tonight. The supporting cast for Princeton was outstanding. Nos. 12, 33, 13. Sorry, didn't get all the names tonight.

The scoreboard tallies were wrong, Moss with 38 Mitchell with 31, even more impressive.

Princeton 14 - 16 - 22 - 23 -- 75

Boone County 22 - 13 - 16 - 15 -- 66

Princeton (4-0) - K. Mitchell 9 8 31, C. Mitchell 4 5 15, Roper 4 5 14, Smith 3 0 6, Ballew 1 3 5, Hardin 1 0 2, Rucker 1 0 2. Totals 23 21 75

Boone County (2-1) - Moss 11 16 38, Hill 3 4 10, Nash 2 2 6, Jones 2 0 4, Popp 1 0 3, A. Switzer 1 0 3, E. Switzer 1 0 2. Totals 21 22 66.

Halftime: Boone County, 35-30. 3-pointers: P 8 (K. Mitchell 5, C. Mitchell 2, Roper). B 2 (Popp, A. Switzer).

My buddy told me Moss had 38 points, 16 boards, and 6 blocks. Solid statline. Too bad they couldn't get the W.

Awesome game to take in. I got there expecting a bigger crowd than what ended up turning out. Wasn't a bad crowd but I just expected bigger considering it was the best two teams in the tri-state.

Princeton looked to be bitten buy injury bug. One starter wearing an ACL brace left the game in the first and never returned. I hope she is OK. Two other players in sweats on the bench.

The game was exactly what I expected. Great athletes and basketball. Glad I made the trip to Flo-town.

RE, I agree with you on trying to have #3 freshman guard Mitchell. Mitchell kind of lit it up during that phase of the game. She is tough to guard even for a seasoned player. You guard her close and she is doing a reverse lay-up, stay off her and she has in the gym range. Nell ended up switching back but not before #3 almost broke her ankles trying to keep up with that crossover. Didn't understand Nash being on the bench so much. Maybe Nell thought the pace was too much? Would have also thought the elder Switzer should have been on the court more. I guess what I am saying RE is I'm not sure about the supporting cast once you get past #25 Mitchell. I may be mistaken but two of the players with signigicant minutes saw quite a bit of JV time and Boone JV ended up winning that game. (That was wild as well, Boone up 30-19 going into 4th and holds on to a two point win that they probably should have lost.)

Those that were there saw a great girls' high school game.

Some comments:

Actually the starter you refer to has been playing limited minutes all year. She apparently has had a nagging injury. Her playing less minutes than normal meant the three non-starters just played a few more minutes than they normally would. I'm not sure who the players in sweats were but all the players from last year's Princeton team played last night.

I thought freshman Macy Ford did a good job on Mitchell. She knew she didn't have the quickness to stay with Kelsey (who does?!?!) so she concentrated on just staying in front of her. Tough task for any girl but I thought Ford did as well as anyone Boone tried on her straight up. I would assume Coach Fookes went with smaller, quicker players to try to match up with the super fast and quick Lady Vikings. I think the only player for Boone who saw significant minutes in the JV game was the younger Switzer, Alexis. Coach Fookes is really bitting the bullet playing the two freshman guards in critical situations but I think that will pay big dividends later in this season. Those two are two of the better potential 3-point shooters for the Lady Rebels and they neeed to see the playing time to become comfortable. I didn't realize starter Bri Popp didn't play in the second half. That surprises me but perhaps she had an injury.

I agree it was a high octane, interesting game, probably the best each team has played this season so far.

Final from Boone County

Oooooooops.......

Kelsey Mitchell now has 35 offers.
