Corey Benningfield pitched a gem dandy with only three hits with nine strikeouts. Powell had runners on every inning. Estill had chance to tie game in fifth but runner was thrown out at home by centerfielder Daniel Kinser. Great win for Powell and Coach Varney.

Clark County is a solid team and they should win their pool. Clark/Leslie game should be good. Powell/Perry Central should be good as well. Winner of that game should win pool.

Great win for Owsley over Hazard. Should be a good championship with Lee County.

The 56th should be very competitive again next year. Lee lost 3 players including Tyler Rich. Powell has everybody back. Owsley lost Smith. Estill lost many players. Lee should win again with Powell a very close second. Followed by Owsley then Estill.

Coach Coldiron resigned at Powell County, as did freshmen Coach Lawson. Baker should head the list of applicants. Many rumors are going around Stanton about other coaches from 14th region teams. Coach Coldiron wants to coach again according to the Lexington Herald.

Drove to Stanton to see this one. Powell was solid on defense with 3 seniors, 2 juniors and 4 sophs. Cory Benningfield was very good on the hill for Powell County allowing only 4 hits and one run. Coach Varney picks up first victory over Coach Marty Feltner (M.C. Napier) of Montgomery.

Muncie from Powell is exceptional and has been for awile. He was overlooked last year on a Powell team with alot of senior talent.

Lady Hound fans say that this was a great game. Officials did an excellent job also. Who wants to play Paris or Montgomery?

I saw Donna Murphy coach last year at LCA. She got the most from her players and the other coaches respected her. Good Luck to her with whatever new team she coaches.

Perry Central all the way again.

Perry Central and Letcher Central in the finals. Same result as in the past PCC.

Leslie at home is tough. Powell beat the Lady Eagles earlier in the year. Powell by 7 points.

Lee is solid at all positions and has a good bench. Leslie is streaky but big. I'll take Lee by 5 points.

I had a front row seat to this game and it did not disappoint me. Fetters kept Lee ahead in the first half and Rich scored and rebounded well in the second. Brandenburg was solid for Lee the whole game. Christopher, Reese, Dixon and Puckett played well for Estill. I also like the train song that the Estill band played. Don't be surprised if these two meet again.

I have seen many of these teams play this year and it could be Lee County and Estill County in the finals. Lee has won all four meetings this year but Estill has closed the gap.
