Has anyone heard a score from the 56th district championship Game.

All I heard was Lee won by 3 pts.

Lee won 52-49. Estill's Dixon missed a free throw with 3 secong=ds left that would have tied it at 50, and Lee rebounded and was fouled. Rich hit the two free throws for the final score. A very exciting game.

Both teams let nothing on the floor. Dixon had free throw to tie with 4.5 let and missed, Lee hit last two free throws. Classic game. Lee County gym packed, probably record crowd.

Thanks Gold Sunrise. I hope Lee County doesn't have to play Estill again. Trust me Dixon is a horse. Whichever winner draws Estill had best know they are subject to early exit next week.

A very exciting game from start to finish. Lee led 50-47 when Estill's Dixon drove the lane, scored, and was fouled with 3 seconds remaining. But he missed the free throw that would have tied it, and Lee's Rich rebounded and was immediately fouled. He hit both free throws, and Estill's half court shot at the horn failed to hit the mark. Rich was named MVP....the Billy Jay Hearne Award.

Congrats to Lee Co. Also glad to see Estill doing so well in their new region.:thumb:

This was a great game. Lee County's gym was packed and everybody got to witness a good game. Both teams played hard but Lee County managed to pull this one out. I wouldnt want to have to play either of these teams in the region.

 

I feel sorry for the district winner that draws Estill.

A classic - pure and simple.

 

Estill led at the end of the first. Lee led at the half. Tied at the end of the third - and then of course the thrilling end.

 

There were of course botched calls as per usual with 14th officials - but it wasnt overwhelming one way or the other.

 

I dont understand why Rich was named MVP - he was shutdown all night long. Fetters won the game for Lee over all - Rich just hit two free throws with around a second and a half to go.

 

Hats off to Lee though. There team is extremely talented and while Coach Wright absolutely gets under my last piece of skin - he is a good coach. I also like the Lee fans - they were very respectable.

 

 

Anybody who was at this game tonight should very easily see how these two teams could very well meet again in a regional championship.

Estill show there heart when they played tonight. It really hurt Dixon when he missed them but i belive on neutral court that he would have sunk them. Another thang to know is that Puckett hit a great three to make the game as close as it was. When regionals rows around dont expect Dixon to miss them on a neutral court. Rich could do nothing with Dixon guarding him as he only had 1 point in the first half and it was off of a free throw. Great game and watch out for the Engineers.

Yea Rich had only 1 point in the first he missed 5 in close when he was open. Tyler came out over enthused and play overly aggressive on the offensive end settled down in the second half and scored most every time he caught in the paint. Dixon is a great player and IMO top 3 in the region. But he is not a great post defender and he would tell you that himself. It is not his natural position. I mean nothing negative about his game. Tyler Rich couldn't stop Blake Christopher, Tyler doesn't play great point defense just not his natural position. Fetters picked up the slack for Rich and helped Lee pulll out a tough win. I know it is possible to meet Estill againbut I feel sorry for whoever draws Estill. These guys play the game the way it is supposed to be played. Estill is a class act and I wish all you guys the best in the region. Hope you draw JBS and stomp them.
