Summer ball starting and no coach?

Powell County lost two players. Ashley Mullins (56th District Tournament MVP)and Tina Engle (About the 4th off the bench) graduated from last years team. Should be the top in the 56th, but have some work to do to get past Perry Central in the Region next year.

Congrats to two of the best I've seen from Owsley County.

Powell County was on the winning end of a two out rally to beat Leslie County in the region finals in the seventh inning. Against South Laurel in the second Powell had a double play and did not convert allowing South Laurel to score seven runs with two outs at basically put the game on ice.

Much better game than the first game. South Laurel got the hits when they needed them. Powell tied it at 3 in the fifth, but South picked up a run in the bottom of the fifth. Philpot kept the Powell hitters off balance for South and Brewer was solid on the mound for Powell. Good Luck South Laurel at Applebee's. Great season comes to an end for Powell.

Keenan will be a solid player at Pikeville. Powell loses a great player on the field and a better person off the field. Good Luck.

Got to stay with the 14th and Powell. South Laurel may win but they will have a fight on their hands. Powell in the last month showed everyone that they do not quit.

Great win for the Breds, again and again. Bourbon had a great season.

Perry Central will host as of right now. I think it starts next Thursday the 8th.

Don't look past Bourbon County. Great team that has a excellent coach.

Not 11 seniors, but 12. One boy played only Jv last year, his first year.

He deserves a change to continue his baseball career and get an education also. Powell loses a great defensive first baseman. Powell's loss is Union's gain. Good Luck Colten.

Powell and Breathitt have drawn each other many times in the Regional, including last year.

Powell- Muncie, Benningfield, Rison, Snowden and Pelfrey Lee- Thomas, Shuler, Perkins and Osborne Estill- Benedict, Sewell and Berryman Owsley- Smith, McIntosh and Bowling

As of today Lively is back in the mix.

What about Greg Coldiron who resigned from Powell County earlier this year. He has 13th region ties.

This was a very exciting game to watch. Perry Central went up 4-1 in the fifth inning, but Powell came back in the sixth to make it 4-3. In the seventh Powell's runner was cut down at the plate to end the game. Crouch pitched for PCC and Benningfield for Powell. Two very good teams hope to see them both in the regional tournament.

With four quality teams two won't make from the 56th. Lee and Powell are a notch above the others. Estill could upset Powell at home. Owsley picked the wrong year to have their best team in years. Owsley's best team since 1980 [Flannery and Brandenburg].

Two quality teams. Great win for Bourbon. The coach for Bourbon is great and is always helping his players.

Lee County could only manage 3 hits off of Muncie. Powells defense played well, especially shortstop Corey Benningfield who made several key plays on ground balls. Devon Pelfrey had 3 hits and one rbi and Matt Reed had two hits. Great game to watch. The district tournament should be a good one.

Great win for Coach Feltner and Montgomery County. Looks like they are improving from the start of the season at Powell County.
