Is there anything more demoralizing to a team than for the opposition to get a big two-out rally on them? I've seen a lot of them lately, last night's SL-Powell game being the most recent, and team on the short end of the rally never recovers. I think this even trumps a big home run as far as momentum-changers goes.

I agree, I would say a bottom of the 9th rally in general is pretty tough to come back from.

I agree Jim. I have seen it numerous times and it is tough to overcome the emotional swing that occurs when a team goes on a 2 out rally. The rallying team builds a great deal of emotional momentum whereas the opposition has their 2 out positive emotions so south on more than just 1 play. Each batter is 'the last out' to them, and when they cannot seem to get that out, it is very disheartening.

I agree. It destroyed a young Powell Co team last night. You almost wonder if it is ever going to end. Flares start to find holes,strike zone looks like a Dixie Cup, and routine ground balls look like BB's.

2 out rallies are mentally draining.

Powell County was on the winning end of a two out rally to beat Leslie County in the region finals in the seventh inning. Against South Laurel in the second Powell had a double play and did not convert allowing South Laurel to score seven runs with two outs at basically put the game on ice.
