Can a kid be ruled ineligible for attending open gym?
dawgs83 replied to Walter's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Never understood why basketball kids cant play five on five or attend skills camp that allows five on five in the off season during school prior to the start of the season. Volleyball and soccer can play club ball at the same time as their season. Baseball teams playing fall ball now. Why not basketball? -
Just saw a tweet from Jody Demling saying that Blackmon has decommitted. Is this recent? First time I've heard it.

All good points. That's why you don't committ tell your senior year. Then you know who really wants and needs you -
Snider decommits from UofL;commits to Illinois
dawgs83 replied to dawgs83's topic in College Basketball
I'm sure its cool for kids to commit early some even before their jr/sr year but how many stick to the commitment. Seems like most of the early commits to UofL and IU decommit. I know its a two way street between recruit and college but why not just wait. -
Snider decommits from UofL;commits to Illinois

Heard from multiple aau guys that Sniders dad wants guaranteed playing time and Pitino wouldnt do that. I'm just wondering if this is Q' s decision or dads. UofL will not recruit him. -

East-West All Star Game

I agree but it does occur when college coaches can attend. I would suggest maybe doing it during the week. Most aau tournaments start near the weekend -
Indiana 108 Kentucky 102 (OT) (JR All-Star Game)

Don't disagree with any of it but still have a problem with him trying out knowing he was gonna play somewhere else during that time. These kids seem to play one event against the other. I just hope the all star team has a plan and replaces them with a player who tried out for the team. -

My problem with it is if your not going to play why go to the tryouts. Plenty of other good players at the tryouts would have loved to play. Kids today have no problem over committing themselves. I just believe you tryout for a team and make it you play. Always looking for something better. -

Played at Fern Creek as an 8th grader. Was ineligible to play at Ramsey Middle school. Not sure why. Played the following summer with Eastern but never enrolled there. Ended up at Ballard. Rumors are still out there about prep school and now Oak Hill.

22 Feet Academy Announces a Move to South Carolina
dawgs83 replied to Wireman's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
So how do Prep schools Work? Im hearing they dont even have a school. The student(players) go to a high school but play for the prep team. Hunting Prep is evidently not even a school. They go to a HS in West Virginia. Do they pay rent? How do these kids get diplomas and who gives them the diploma? -
Henry Clay's Trey Grundy Plans to Transfer
dawgs83 replied to Wireman's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I've heard alot of talk about Snider from Ballard being next. Kids think they will get exposure and better college opportunities at Prep school. Snider has already committed to UofL. Not sure why he would need to unless his committment is soft. Heard they are not happy with UofL recuriting more guards. The kid out of Seattle is evidently a guard a 6'8. -
Why did the 96 team not get rings?
-
Welcome to the Dark side of AAU basketball. Very little loyalty between coaches and players. Kids always looking for the best deal, coaches always looking for a better player. I've seen AAU coaches come right up to kids on other teams and try and get them to switch.

PG- Milt Wagner SG- Darrell Griffith SF- Derek Smith Pf- Rodney McCray C-- Pervis Ellison There are some obvious players left off like a Wes Unseld. But All of these players won a title. The 80 & 86 teams were athletic, Quick, and were interchangable so thats why I chose my 5.

Agreed. He would have to coach against Pitino who is like his father. I think its safe to say that the UK and UL coach usually have a strained relationship. Also, Pitino was Donavans tie To UK. I think he was only and assistant there 3 years. Just about everyone that was at UK when he was there are gone. Mr. Bill was still there but a different administration.
-
Not sure he would he obviously likes it at Florida. I think he goes because he will be asked by Pitino and Jurich. Donavan would be in the ACC and the east coast where he is from. Donavan was an assistant at UK and maybe he understands the demands of that job and feels its not for him. UK is an obvious top Job. However, It is not for everyone. Heck wasn't Pitino the 3rd or fourth choice when he was hired at UK? UofL doesnt have the same demands on a coach that UK has.

Like I said going on his 8th year. How long do you get to build a program into a top 10 contender. They have been in the best basketball conference and have had some succes but not consistant. Not a Cronin hater he is a decent coach. I just dont think he has done enough to warrant replacing Rick Pitino. UofL has had only two coaches since 1971 Crum & Pitino. They are now both HOFers. I think you have to go after a big name coach. The program warrents it. I would make Donavan and Stevens right now say no to me.
