  1. These are the ones I know for sure. They have three other players. Two from Indiana and 1 more from Louisville area Austin Howard-Eastern Devon Johnson-Iroquois Caleb Longacre-Fairdale Cory Thomas- Fairdale Terik Mason-Fairdale Montrell Little--Doss Keenan Williams- Jeffersonville,Ind
  2. Agreed. They are gone. How will it help their draft status if they stay and have to compete for playing time. In my opinion the NBA already knows who they are going to draft in regards to one and dones. They still have the potential status. If they stay they lose that and get passed up.

  4. Not a big fan of Hicks. He is a good player but not sure he has ever lived up to the hype he had as a freshman. I thought he was awesome his freshman year when I believe he had 32 for Shelby Co. vs Ballard(I think) in first rd of state tournament. Just dont think he ever really got much better. Also, Sat out some time with an injury. During this time I actually thought Trinity was better winning the LIT and beating Ballard. BTW, I think its a pretty solid list.
  5. All good Questions. Anyone can start an AAU team and get certified as long as you meet qualifications. Raising the money is the issue. Most players get invited to AAU teams and some tryout. The higher a player is ranked the better the team he will get invited to play on. I have been told that to be EBYL status for Nike you have to have certain players on the team. I would say there are more teams that don't have a lot of sponsorship then there are with. Just because a team has Spiece in front of it doesn't guarantee sponsorship. I'm not in the know but I don't think its a violation to play for sponsored teams that are NCAA certified. What would be a possible violation is if players are receiving cash.
  6. At one time he was. However, I believe he got into trouble at a Football game at J-Town where he threatened an official. I believe he had a son playing.
  7. NCAA Certified events registration fees range anywhere from $600-$1000. Travel fees for tournaments (Airfaire) at least $400 per player, and rooms $100 per night, and meals. I would say for the Louisville Magic to fly to Vegas and play I would estimate $7000-$10,000 based on 10 players and 6 rooms for 5 nights. Most teams that are funded like EBYL nike teams dont charge the kids. So If Louisville Magic play in the 5 NCAA Certified events that would be around $50,000-$60,000. Would also have to cover gear, leaving a coach with $40,000 if his budget is $100,000. $600 registration $4,000 Airfaire $3,000 Rooms (6 rooms for 5 days) $1,000 meals Total= $8,600 Just an estimate. Have no way of knowing if this is how its done.
  8. Heard Under Armor gave Ellis Myles $100,000 to fund Louisville Magic.
  9. All head coaches are sent a ballot from the Ky All Stars organization. They are to nominate 10 Juniors they have seen that they think deserve a tryout to the Jr. All star. It is very similar to the senior tryout ballot. Only difference is the Sr. ballott includes top 3 choices for Mr. Basketball. The KABC's paid members only vote for player of the year, another player deserving of playing in the KABC's East/West game, and coach of the year in their respective regions. You do not have to be a paid member of the KABC to vote for Mr. Basketball or for kids to get a tryout for the Jr's
  10. Can add Louisville Butler's Shaun Purlee per Jason Frakes.
  11. If Martin is their throw in Guy then thats who you go with. Just seems when teams are in a hard deny you want to use height to help get it in. Martin may have been able to get the high pass. Really just surprised a Time out wasnt called it was close to a 5 second violation. I've witnessed a lot of games not been finished because teams cant hit their free throws down the stretch.
  12. With the 3 point shot and the lack of quality free throw shooting today its not hard to lose a 4 point lead with 32.8 secs left. Thats a long time. Both Ballard and MC missed free throws during this time. Ballard hits both free throws late they are up 65-60 and at worst the three pointer ties it. I question having a big man take it out late. Seems like you would have someone taking the ball out who is a good passer and makes good decisions. Ballard had two timeouts left. I would think the first thing you tell whoever is taking it out to call time out if you have any doubts. As far as next year Ballard will be loaded and should win the region. Will be challenged by Trinity. There are rumors going around the Louisville area that Snyder and possibly Martin could go to prep school.
  13. Richard has done a fantastic job there and does have a bright future. Most of Pitino's assistants are successful. However, I thought the refs down the stretch weere going to steal it from the Tops. Those last 3 calls were terrible. Got Toppers!
  14. He was laughing when they drug him away. Why not just be happy about the job you have done and leave it at that. He better hope he never has an issue with the NCAA
  15. Just saw the tape. What a jerk! I give credit to the Michigan Asst. He should have you know what slapped him.
  16. I think to win the state tournament you have to be able to execute and have go to plays in the clutch. Ballard relies on pressure defense and getting quick shots. They had a 16 point lead and played as if it was 2 point game. How many one on one shots did they take and miss running no time on the clock. Kelan Martin was a beast down low. Why not turn the ball over and be patient until you get him the ball on the block. MC didn not panic during any of their games when they got behind. They stayed in their box sets and re-set the offense when they didnt get what they wanted. They were patient and got the ball down low and took advantage of Ballard double teaming Hawkins. Taylor down low went to work late and had some big baskets down the stretch. Then Hawkins took over as usual. When the game is on the line in the state tournament one on one basketball will get you beat. Same thing happened to Eastern two years ago vs Christian Co.
  17. Pretty cheap not having programs. As for losing money, I think they announced this tourney as the 3rd highest attendance. KHSAA needs to get busy and get a title sponsor.
  18. I would say the people have spoken. Announced crowd tonight was just over 20,000. KHSAA will definitely like that. 3rd highest attendance ever for the semi-finals.
  19. Player of the year and runner-up get invited to play. In the 6th region it is Derek Willis and Josh Payne. Also note that coaches cannot vote for their own player and you must be a member of the KABC to vote and for your player to be eligible. You would be surprised at how many coaches do not belong to the KABC.
  20. PRP did not press at all in wins over Bullitt East and Butler. Got back and played a match-up zone. Completely confused Bullitt East holding them to 33 points. Butler also struggled vs the match-up. PRP can play at any speed right now. They also switch in their man to man that can cause problems if you are not used to it. If Homes struggles to get good looks against PRP's match-up I will take PRP.
  21. Defintely think MC has played a tougher schedule. Hawkins got a lot of recognition playing in KOB in front of a lot of Louisville coaches. Montgomery Co. backed out of the KOB.
  22. The state tournament could definitely decide the outcome of Mr. Basketball this year much like 2 years ago when Hickey won it. Most people thought Bowling Green's Behanen would win it. Hickey had a great state trournament leading Christian Co. to the title. Just about every coach in the state attends the state tournament. If Prewitt or Hawkins has a great run and leads their team to the finals I can see the coaches in the state voting for them. Coaches who may have voted for Willis or Troutman could easily change their vote.
  23. Im hearing the KHSAA is thinking of lowering Ky to 27 games
