As a UofL fan and alum none of those choices would excite me. Cronin is going on his 8th year at Cincy and has not done much, Willard doesnt seem to be getting Seton Hall anywhere, And Jr will have to prove himself at Minnesota first.

If your talking about coaching stamina I would think the younger coaches would want his. Thats why his assistants dont stay long because they cant handle his work ethic.

One of the things the NBA guys talk about Russ Smith is his ability to get to the foul line. With the NBA rules of no hands on the point guard when they drive from out front I can see him causing some problems. That rule has really helped smaller guards. My concern would be what was said earlier can he defend bigger guards? Hardaway posted him up easy with only 7 secs on shot clock.

It means he's a workaholic. How are you supposed to look at 60? Should he have plastic surgery? If Pitino was sick we would know about it. He checked into the Mayo Clinic three years ago and missed a game. He was cleared and coached the next game.

The man is 60 years old and he still coaches like he is in his 40's. There are a lot of younger coaches out there that would love to have his energy. Pitino in his post game comments said all of them: Smith, Behannen, and Dieng should enter the draft and test the waters. This may sound crazy but I think Harrell would go before all of them. He has that potential and athletic ability that the NBA likes to take a chance on.

As long as Tom Jurich is the AD Louisville will get who they want. I would prefer Donavan or Stevens with Donavan first. I think he would do well in the ACC and that recruiting base. He should be fired especially after Miller was fined 25k. Officials are overly protected. No accountability. I just don't understand why conference leaders continue to protect these guys. I still remember the crew that blew the calls in the Big East tournament a couple of years ago. They were taken of the rest of the tournament. Most people are saying WCS is making a good decision staying another year. I think its a mistake for his professional career. Most mock drafts have him anywhere from 8-13 in this years draft. Lets see where he is at next year. Most kids that stay another year drop in the draft. He should go while he's hot. Hopefully that wont be the case. But with the incoming class I see his playing time drop.

I'm a UofL fan and love beating UK in any sport and that makes it a rivalry for me. However, I love sports, the competition, and especially basketball. As disappointed as I was last year when we lost to UK in the final four, I just could not find myself pulling for Kansas to beat a Kentucky team. I loved watching that group play together so unselfishly. I guess some of us can get past the "my teams this and your team is that."

All you have to do is look at the track record of schools and then you can decide if its a good move or not. Tubby leaves Ky for Minnesota and gets fired. How many coaches have been fired at Minnesota? Ben Howlin leaves Pitt and takes UCLA to three straight final fours during his tenure and gets fired. How many coaches have been fired from UCLA? Maybe he should have stayed at PITT. I saw a report that listed Smart as one of the top 10 highest paid coaches salary wise at VCU.

Fairdale wil be unederated going into preseason. Cory Thomas and Caleb Longacre return and that gives them leadership at the guard spot. Thomas averaged 18.7 ppg last year. A big addition will be 6'2 Terik Mason who transferred from Manual and didnt get eligible until the last 3 weeks of the season. Fairdale will be quick and should be a good shooting team. Their biggest concern will be size. Other than PRP though, there is really not much size in the region. PRP will definitely be the favorite but wont be a lock.

Wiltjer needs to transfer to a school that better fits his abilities. He does not fit in Cals system. This year should be proof of that. With next years class coming in he will spend more time on the bench. I will say with this class he may be able to play the way he did last year benefiting from the drives and kick outs. He is a spot shooter. UK has no scholarship worries. I am not convinced that Poythress, Goodin, and definitely Stein are back next year. I dont even think Cal wants them back.

Three summers ago I was at adidas tournament in INDY and most of the coaches were there to watch Chane Behannen that day. We were in the lobby and all of the coaches were coming in. I pointed out to my wife. There is Billy Donavon, Bill Self, Tom Crean, and Bobby Huggins. She was like, "so I dont know them." Then Coach K walks by with a summer straw hat on, and she said, "Hey there is Coach K from Duke." He had no Duke stuff on either.

If you could determine a way to eliminate the district tournament in basketball I would not have a problem with it. I dont think all teams deserve to go to the post season. But like someone posted earlier, You would have to go to a class system in basketball to eliminate districts. Also a huge difference is a basketball district tournament can be done in 5 days. Basketballs post season can be done in 3 weeks.

I will take the Magic over the travelers. Those kids are tough would certainly not back down.

Football needs to go back to the way it was in the 80's. When only the district champ and runner-up go to playoffs. No sense in a team that goes winless being in the playoffs. When this new system came out 4-5 yrs ago, Louisville Butler was winless got beat bad by St. X last game of the season, then had to turn around and play them again in the first rd of playoffs. First rd football playoffs should be eliminated

I love AAU basketball and have become a bigger fan of it over the years. Honestly it is where the kids get recruited now especially the smaller college prospects. However, stories like the ones above about kids leaving for this program or that one, is one of the reasons AAU gets its bad name and leads to problems. Parents and kids start bidding for the best handouts so to speak. I saw the picture from the travelers where the comment was "this is what we get and more on the way." I have no problem with the Travelers coming to Ky but since their announcement earlier in the year, there have been constant rumors about whose gonna play for who. I have been told that for teams to have EBYL status they have to have certain players on their teams or they don't get it. So the offers start coming and kids leave their teams for the best deal. Not saying I blame them just saying it leads to the negative views of AAU.
