Would love to see Elliott County because they're an A school, play either GRC because of Gold Sunrise and Coach Scott Humphrey or Covington Holmes because they're from the 35th District and the 9th Region.

Checked out the Campbellsville website and noticed Chris Curley's stats. He didn't miss a beat in the college game. After 8 games his stats are: 26 at bats, 8 runs scored, 11 hits, 8 RBI's, .423 batting average, 3 doubles and 2 home runs. He's also pitched 2 innings allowing 1 hit, no runs and striking out two.

Other than CCH & Holmes, are there any really good teams this year? It just seems most other teams are down this year. Three teams have losing records (Highlands, LLoyd & Conner). Dixie isn't as strong as they usually are. You never know which St Henry team will show up. NCC has been on & off all year too. It looks like the preseason polls were right on. It'll probably come down to CCH & Holmes. Can anyone else possibly win it?

Holmes great start proves to be the difference in this game. HC actually outscored Holmes 41-40 in the last three quarters while the Bulldogs were "coasting". HC cut it to 8 points twice but both times the Bulldogs answered immediately. Henderson hit 4 of 4 threes, 6 of 9 from the field and 2 of 3 FT's for 18 to lead Holmes. HC was committed to stopping Rice (7), Hill (14) & Jefferson (9), which they basically did but Henderson burned them. With all the talk about HC slowing it down and being very deliberate on offense, it was actually Holmes who played this way. It was very odd to see the Bulldogs not taking advantage of their superior athletesism by running. HC- Ryan (15), Sorrell (14) and Giwa (13) By the way, noone made Giwa look "silly" out there tonight, he played a fine game , even a little better than his counterpart at point guard. Good luck to the Bulldogs from here on out.

We're not talking about football, track or cross country. Those sports never had and never will have a Sweet 16. That's what makes basketball in Kentucky so unique. Yes, the small schools seldom have a chance to win it, but I still don't think they would want to change it. Yes, CovCath celebrates their regional winners as does every other school, because they got the CHANCE to play in the Sweet 16!

Interesting, I didn't realize they would have to play the first game loser to get in. The brackets on KHSAA don't show that. That makes sense. I still think they should take one of the 5 from the other district and make 4 sets of 4.

You're right, the kids should come first! Ask any kid in a smaller school who's experienced the State Tournament as it is now if he wants to strive to get there or he wants to see 4 seperate tournaments which would be nothing like the atmosphere at Rupp now. I really think the majority would want to keep it as is. Most kids won't get a chance to experience "cutting down the nets", only a select few will. Let's not take away their ability to experience the dream of getting to the greatest show on earth. That's what sets our State Tourament apart from every other, the dream of getting there. I would be willing to bet that kids from Holy Cross, Brossart, NCC, St Henry,Newport and many others would not want to trade that dream for an A or AA State Championship. They have the perfect senario now with the possibility of winning the All A and still being eligible for the State Tournament. Do all the other states have it wrong? Yes, they do! Indiana is the perfect example.

The fourth district only has three teams in it. Calloway County has drawn a BYE into the regional tournament for two straight years. The second district, which is in the fourth's region (Region 1), has 5 teams. Why not have all four districts have four teams and NOONE BYES into the regional tournament. It can't be geographical, there are plenty of teams in the state who travel 50 or 75 miles sometime to play in their regional. It sure doesn't seem fair to allow only one team in the state this opportunity.

He is an excellent student and I'm guessing he wasn't as concerned about how high the basketball profile was as he was concerned about the academic profile. At TM (who doesn't offer athletic scholarships), he can stay close to home, go to a great academic school, and still compete at the college level in basketball. Seems to be a great situation for him.

Wasn't referring to his point total as much as his shooting accuracy! It just felt like he couldn't miss when he shot it tonight.

Coach Carr does a great job, very impressive. The Eagles aren't loaded with talent by any means. They only played 6 players tonight with 4 of them logging the full 32 minutes. They're not tall or overly athletic but he has them playing tough fundamental, smart basketball and they can shoot. They outscored HC 27-12 from three point land, hitting 9-16. He spread the floor and his players are well schooled on how to run the spread offense. Many times Sharp would penetrate and kick it out for a wide open three or he would score himself. Ryne Smith was a surprise tonight hitting 6/8FG, 4/6 3PG & 3/3FT. Good luck in the post season Eagles!

Indians led throughout. Giwa 17, Sorrell 15, Ryan 15, Eifert 6, Bass 3, Barth & J. Sullivan 2 Kiernan did not play. HC has won 13 of last 15 games.

Ryan 26, Sorrell 13, Giwa 13, Eifert 9, Barth 6, Sullivan 4 & Stewart 3 for HC. Anderson 17, Pugh 17, Thomas 12, Crews 7, & Pieschel/Brashear 2 each for Conner.

Holy Cross won 74-57. Indians led the whole game, were up 42-21 at halftime.

Really depends on which St Henry team shows up! They are very capable of beating Brossart, but they could also loose by 20. They're the most unpredictable team in the region IMO.

Congrats to Mayfield. I love to see them beat Graves and Alan Hatcher twice in one season. Good luck in the districts and region. Hopefully, Mayfield will make it to Rupp since they didn't make it to Richmond.

CCH has won three in a row, 9 of their last 10 and 12 of their last 13. HC has won five in a row, 8 of their last 10 and 11 of their last 13. Holmes has won five in a row, 7 of their last ten and 7 of their last 13. Record wise, CCH and HC are the hottest teams in the last month winning a combined 23 of their last 26 games. The Bulldogs at full strength have won five in a row. I'd say these are the hottest teams in the 9th for NOW.

HC led from start to finish and was up 20 with two minutes to go when they emptied the bench. Subs really struggled in those two minutes though. Good balanced scoring. Giwa 18, Sorrell 17, Eifert 16 and Ryan 10

Ryle is at it again! Last year they surprised everyone by winning the region. They lost their coach to the varsity job and here they are again, beating an undefeated Highlands team in the semifinals. The future looks bright in Union!

Holy Cross 74 Highlands 60 HC led the whole game and was up 20 points when the subs went in around the two minute mark.

The game at Highlands tonight has been changed to 6 PM instead of the normal 7:30 start. The JV game will be cancelled. Varsity only. All due to the impending "white death"!

Regional Championship. Also, a state championship is not out of the question!
