The officials had to call it close because this game was a war. They called it even for the most part but if anything Scott County got the benefit on turnovers. Walls made a turning point play when he dove out of bounds to save the ball and called timeout. It should have been Catholic's ball but the effort was so great, I'm glad they gave it to him. Moving the SC students from behind the LC students was a good idea. Unfortunately, they were moved behind where I sat so we got to listen to a greater than normal amount of cursing. At one point the police came up to put a halt to it. I'm not impressed with their behavior but maybe they got testy with all the moving. The LexCath player came up with his hand trying to knock the ball loose when Walls got scratched coming down with a rebound. There was nothing dirty about it. He is a tough kid and a great player. Wish UK could get him. I hope we get a chance for a rematch in Richmond.

Scott County has won by larger margins at their gym but I give credit to their fans ability to contest every call which doesn't go their way. It kind of wears on me over the course of a game so I imagine it might the officials also. SC will probably have an equal number or more fans on Saturday so it will seem more like a neutral site. The Cards are the best team in the state along with Ballard but they play a very intense style and foul a lot so I don't see why some of their fans think they get the short end of the stick from the officials. Coach Hicks does as good a job as any in trying to get officials to call it both ways (his way). I guess the only hope Catholic has is if we get the officials to help us. Thanks for the heads up.

The GRC coach is quoted as saying the LexCath defense was tremendous.

I think Ammons is the better of the two Qbs. I might have to go see a Georgetown game if they continue this kind of recruiting.

Beating Scott County at home is next to impossible.

I think Huntington took SC too lightly after the way they beat LexCath earlier. Looking forward to the rematch.

Playing tough teams on consecutive nights is good practice for the tournaments that count. So kudos to the repective coaches for this type of scheduling.

Not as close as the final score indicates. Catholic jumped out front 16-0 and cruised from there.

LexCath played what was probably their best game of the year yesterday in an easy win at LCA. Can they build smoe momentum? Will get back on this one after TC.

There is no way to sugar-coat this loss. Lafayette took care of the ball and LexCath didn't. Catholic looked like they had the better players but Lafayette was the better team. Novosel sat out much of the game with foul trouble but Catholic still focused on getting the ball inside which usually resulted in a turnover on the few occasions they were able to get the ball across mid-court. Lafayette led thoughout except for late in the fourth quarter when Catholic took a one point lead on a Jordan Smart three pointer. Lafayette had all the reason to fold at this point but they rebuilt their lead quickly and the game was essentially over. I'd like to think Catholic lost this game because they were over looking Lafayette. But playing Huntington tomorrow isn't nearly as important as winning tonight was. This team needs to get their priorities straight and focus on regional opponents. Lafayette was chant-ting "over-rated" at the end and tonight it was true.

I thought Rose Hill returned quite a few players from last year? Looking at their (Rose Hill) record makes me want to revise my prediction. I guess what I'm saying is that right now LexCath looks ripe for an upset but it still will take a very strong team to do it. There probably are others besides LCA and Scott County who have the potential, I'm not familiar with girls basket ball that much and have only seen the Catholic girls play three games or so this year. They seem to really miss the spark that Nikki Davis gave them at point guard last year.

LexCath looked very tired in this week's win over LCA in a game they probably should have lost. Rose Hill should be ready and I look for the upset to occur.

There were plenty of seats tonight. Maybe three quarters full at best.

The Knights were down by five but hit a three just before the buzzer to lose by two. Hickson was a stud for Wheeler. LexCath was lucky to keep it so close. This was a very good team.

Probably the best team I've seen in the past couple years. They only seem to play five guys which may be a weakness but they don't seem to need more as they don't foul much. Their conditioning is amazing. I can't imagine a better starting five in the state after seeing them the last two days.

LexCath will feel like they got out of jail after having played Brossart and I look for them to rebound in a big way. I expect a faster higher scoring game with Catholic winning by 10.

There were only two teams from the 11th region in this tournament and the regions are currently even against one another. The 11th has a lot of depth and HC and LC are slightly below Bryan Station, Tates Creek, and a little better than Dunbar, Madison Central, LCA, and Lafayette. Scott County looks to be ahead of them all at present but its a long season. The top three in the 10th are competitive with the top teams in the 11th. The 11th and 7th are still the most competitive regions I think but thanks to their showing to date in the 5/3, the 10th and 9th are also very good.

I really enjoyed this game. Russell was able to do well because they controlled the tempo and made Mason play half court. Gill really seems to be quick and an outstanding leaper for Russell. I thought he shut down Miller in the second half. Van Hoose could use a little more arc on his otherwise flawless shot. Number 3 for Mason was the reason they won. His interception of a possible layup by Van Hoose was the play of the game. There was contact but the officials did a good job by not calling it since both were going to the ball. Every possession was a battle which is what this tournament has been about when played by the top teams. Congrats to both.

This was Catholics first game of the tourney and I think they were able to wear JB down with their depth. I don't think you can make any predictions about a possible Mason Catholic matchup based on their scores against Jb. Give JB credit for hanging in there when they could have folded.

I'm sure it is composed of dependents of US servicemen assigned to the unit in Belgium.
