Lafayette 61 Lex Catholic 57

Final Per KHSAA.

I'm stunned by this score, someone who was there could fill us in.

Lafayette improves to 7-7

Catholic falls to 12-6

There is no way to sugar-coat this loss. Lafayette took care of the ball and LexCath didn't. Catholic looked like they had the better players but Lafayette was the better team. Novosel sat out much of the game with foul trouble but Catholic still focused on getting the ball inside which usually resulted in a turnover on the few occasions they were able to get the ball across mid-court. Lafayette led thoughout except for late in the fourth quarter when Catholic took a one point lead on a Jordan Smart three pointer. Lafayette had all the reason to fold at this point but they rebuilt their lead quickly and the game was essentially over.

I'd like to think Catholic lost this game because they were over looking Lafayette. But playing Huntington tomorrow isn't nearly as important as winning tonight was. This team needs to get their priorities straight and focus on regional opponents. Lafayette was chant-ting "over-rated" at the end and tonight it was true.

Lex Catholic could not have beaten many teams tonight. Chemistry is lost currently. Lafayette tried to give it away, taken some ill advised shots, but Lex Catholic did not take advantage. Don't think they overlooked their district foe, just did not have the right answers tonight. Give credit to Lafayette, they whipped the knights in EVERY way, deserved the win.

Can any team in the 11th beat Scott Co. Seems like the 11th is deep, as usual, Scott Co, LexCath, Station, MCentral, Lafayette and HC al seem to have quality squads. I know a good team can win in a one game situation but it SC that much better than the rest of the Lexington region?

Scott County thought they had the 11th won last year. There are several teams who could win the 11th. I would have to give the edge to SC right now. Scott Co. needs to remember they aren't in the 8th region anymore, and can be beaten any night.

Tates Creek is next best to Scott County.

I say Bryan Station who matches up very well with Scott County.

Id love to watch the 11th region tournament this year all of these awesome teams and talented players would make for one heck of a week.

Scott Co. was beaten several nights in the 8th region too. I think it might be some of the fans/BGPers who think Scott Co. is far above the pack. The coaching staff and the kids have to remember the last two regional finals they played in.

Also - Lafayette gave Scott Co. everything they wanted in the season opener. There was one kid who put about 30 points up from Lafayette. Lafayette would have won the game if that kid hadn't gone down with cramps - they had to take him to the hospital after the game.
