Mayfield beat Beechwood in 2002 for the Class A Title

Beginning this Friday night with the game against Crittenden County we will be using a new in-stadium broadcast similar to the one that Dave Rowton and Coach Leahy used the past couple of seasons. We will be testing it out at the home game this week and will be using it the rest of the football season and for basketball season at both the home and away games. We are planning on using the FM Frequency of 104.3 for the in-stadium broadcast so now wherever the Cardinals play you can hear the game with Mayfield announcers. You will be able to hear the broadcast inside the stadium and just outside of the stadiums. We will still be using 1430AM for our regular broadcasts and 104.3 FM for the in-stadium broadcasts. If for some reason we go somewhere that we can not use this frequency we will let people know in advance of the new frequency. I would appreciate if Cardinal fans can pass this along to anyone likes to listen to the games while they watch them. Thanks and GO CARDS!!! :fight:

Crittenden County is not a bad team...they have had some bad luck this year with defections and injuries...that can happen to any team and to say that they are a bad team is absolutely absurd. Granted they have not had their best year...but any Class A team that has injuries and defections of a player they were going to rely heavily on would hurt any team. Also take a look at the teams that beat Crittenden this year...some pretty good teams there.

I have to believe that Mayfield comes out and continues their physical style of football that they played last week and take care of a late improving Crittenden County squad 28-7 and moves on for a rematch with Fulton City in round 2.

...to not make the Regional Finals. What #1 seeds in any class do you feel like might not make the Regional Finals or 3rd round of the playoffs. I'll say in Western Kentucky that Fulton City is a candidate to not make it...as tough as the 2A district is...Caldwell County might be another candidate.

WPSD is providing the webcast and asked our permission to use our radio broadcast for their use as well. I agree that this is a great idea for those that are out of the area that can not attend the game in person. Hopefully the Mayfield and Crittenden faithful will pass this along to people that they know out of area and that they can watch and listen to this first round playoff game.

Yes....Ethan is a senior and I will echo the sentiments about it being great news for Ethan as a person and as a football player with it only being an inner ear infection.

I have to agree that playing a team like NH is a good thing for Frankfort or any team that wants to make a serious run in the postseason. You don't get better by inflating your ego and playing teams that you should beat...you play teams that will make you better. What good does it do to go 10-0 in the regular season if you have not played anyone and then get bounced in the playoffs. If Frankfort wants to take the next step and get to the semi's and finals they needed to to play out of district teams like the ones they have played this year...because so has Beechwood and Mayfield two teams likely to face off with Frankfort this year. Good luck to Frankfort and hopefully we will get a chance to see you in the regional championship game this year at your place.

Cards looked much better and more importantly they looked hungry again on Friday night. The simplifying of the playbook on both offense and the attacking defensive mindset really helped out alot. I believe that you will see Mayfield open up the playbook more in the playoffs, but they really did not want to show too much as Crittenden County had the week off and most of their players and coaches were in the stands last Friday night. The one thing that Mayfield did do...was to show that even if you bring 8-9 people in the box that we can run against it. I also have to believe that having Ethan Kemp back in the lineup for the first time in three weeks really helped out on the offensive line play. As far as the penaly goes...some of those "holding calls" were pretty suspect..especially after watching film of the game yesterday...and the one face-mask call by McQuiston in the third quarter was just a blown call as the film clearly shows that he tackled the receiver high on the shoulder pads and never touched the face-mask. But I will agree we do have to get better on not getting the costly penalties and must do a better job of taking care of the football. Let the playoffs begin....GO CARDS!!!

It will be interesting to see how Mayfield comes out this week as the Cards have gone more "live" action this week in practice and the coaches say that they have more aggression now than they have in the past three weeks. Now whether that translates to the field is another question. When the Cards play with heart and passion they win...when they don't...well we have seen it the last three weeks. Would not be surprised to see the Cards play more of a smash-mouth brand of football tonight against Caldwell County...especially with the way that the Tigers can spread you out on offense to try and shorten the game with the run. Hopefully both teams come out with their "A" Game as that should make for a great game and a good way to end the season and start the postseason next week.

I gotta believe that the Cards will turn it around this week...don't know if it will be enough to win or not...but the Cards desperately need this game to get their MOJO back heading into the playoffs next week against a Crittenden County team that has been playing better as of late. Should be a good game and I am just wondering if the Cards go back to basics...could we see the return of the 2-tight, wishbone set...seems like we have moved the ball really well on the ground using this offense...especially with Armstrong at QB. I'll go with my heart...Cards 24-21

I agree...I also too see that the attitude is not what it was the first six games...and I know they are trying to get that attitude and intensity back, and the next two weeks will tell alot about what this Cardinal team will have in the tank come playoff time. IF they can get back to where they were playing then I think they can be a force in the playoffs...but if they come out the next two weeks feeling sorry for themselves...then it will be a short playoff run.

Forecast for Friday night is for Mostly Cloudy skies, 20% chance of rain with a slight breeze...so it might not be raining...but got a feeling there will be a lot of soggy fields making for some treacherous footing when trying to make cuts.
