One good thing about Mayfield football...is that we have had alot of experience with the Thanksgiving Day practices and the like...so the players know how much they can eat and how much they should eat...lol. Best Wishes to all the Frankfort players, coaches, administrators, and fans on this Thanksgiving Holiday. It is nice that a game of this magnitude can have open and honest discussions about their teams without it turning negative. Shows class by the supporters for both teams on this website.

Marshall County is a solid team both offensively and defensively. They are led by all everything back #3 Alan Williams who if you let him will take over a contest...no matter who he plays. Williams is also extremely strong in his legs and you will need more than one tackler to bring him down as I have seen him play several times throughout his career and not once have I seen the first tackler bring him down...that and he always seems to fall forward when tackled. Now can he single handedly beat a team such as X...no...but the Marshals do have some other playmakers including #4 Brandon Walker a very good change of pace running back. The QB #2 Barga is an accurate passer who if you let him sit back in the pocket will pick you apart all night long. He is also good at scrambling and keeping his head up for an open receiver. He is not someone that will make you go "WOW" what a QB...but at the end of the night you look up and he has over 150 yards and a couple of TD's. Defensively the Marshals are not that big, but very fast and close the gap quickly. They seem to get very good pressure on the QB and are very good tacklers. They also have a good kicking game to go along with it. Will Marshall County win the game...no....but if X comes down expecting a cakewalk then they could be in for a long night in Draffenville. And for the person referring to the officiating...officials for the playoffs are assigned from the KHSAA from a different conference from the two teams playing...so if you have a problem with the officiating take it up with the KHSAA. Most teams both home and away usually have problems with officials from different regions during playoffs. Good luck to both teams and hopefully win or lose...both teams come out healthy. And to the ST. X fans have a safe trip to western Kentucky...wish that I could see this game but will be on my way to call the Mayfield-Frankfort game in Frankfort.

I gotta feeling that if either team has to "open" up their offense then it will be a long night for them as it means that their running game is stalled. And I will take the over/under at 12 for the first three quarters and then after that all bets are off depending on the score. Would be shocked if the number of passes reaches much above the 12 passes.

Good thing we both like to keep it on the ground with the cold weather. How does Sower Field do as far as drainage of wet weather...and how is the footing of the field?

I know that I can go online and see...but I was wanting to know from some of the Frankfort fans...what is the local weathermen calling for Friday night as far as the weather goes.

Westcoaster...I hope you are right about Lawson being able to at least try to go as the last that Coach Morris told me was that Lawson might be able to come back IF we get to the finals, but probably not before then. But Jonathan is a tough kid and I hope he is able to come back. Also the latest that I hear is that if the decision had to be made on McNutt right now would be that he would not play this week, but it still early in the week and Tommy is working hard to get to play this week as he knows that special teams play could decide the outcome of who moves on and who packs up the gear after Friday night. I don't think that dehydration will be much of an issue...maybe a little upset stomachs this week as the trainer is having them drink some pickle juice to help keep them hydrated.

Mayfield's practice will be around 10am for their normal Thursday pregame practice and will let the kids go home and eat dinner with their families around noon or so. Mayfield always has a lot of people out for the Thanksgiving practice time and should do so again this year. It has become a tradition at Mayfield...practice, eat, watch games on tv Thursday and play on Friday.

Mayfield going to either Cambellsville or Louisville Holy Cross would have been closer as the trip from door to stadium is 265.23 miles from my place to Frankfort's stadium

What type of special teams do both teams have on the season. Mayfield has a very special kicker in Tommy McNutt...just hope that McNutt can go this week after getting a little banged up last Friday night. When healthy McNutt is accurate from 45-50yards out and routinely bangs the ball in the end zone and is a very good punter. What type of kicker/punter does Frankfort have?

This should be an outstanding football game between two very good football teams who are both glad that Danville is now in Class 2A...lol. This should be a battle of wills on who can control the line of scrimmage as speed wise it should be about even...maybe a slight nod to Frankfort. Big key will be who can throw the ball successfully Friday to back the defense off some or hit the big plays through the air. Pigman...quick question...how is the pressbox area at Sower Field?
