Mayfield 25 Caldwell County 6

Featured Replies

Mayfield ends their three game losing streak with a win on the road over the Tigers.

Cardw win it with dominating showing

Stats: Mayfield: 210 rush, 111 pass (7-12/2 TD's) 321 Total yards ***11 FLAGS***

Caldwell County: 37 rush, 101 pass (14-32-1 TD 1 Int) 138 Total yards

Cards were way more physical on both sides and by the 4th quarter Caldwell was wore out. turnovers and penalties killed Mayfield all night and may have kept score from being worse. If this is not fixed Cards will suffer in playoffs at some point. Caldwell's QB was off all night over threw recievers alot of times. Cards did decent job of pass defense after lacking in recent games.

Caldwell's 7 game win streak ends. More importantly, Mayfield's 3 game skid is over

Great way to end the regular season and begin the march toward the ultimate prize.

Mayfield looked good except for the penalties. They had 11 total. The offensive line opened some big holes all night long for Tyrese and Andy. The defense played better than they have in three weeks.

Time of Possession:

Mayfield 35:04

Caldwell 12:56

Murrell had 138 yards rushing. Great job of running Tyrese. He did a good job of reading the blocks and hitting the holes that were there all night. Andy had a heck of a game before he had to leave because of injury. Andy had 40 yards rushing on 3 carries and a 54 yard TD catch and run on a quick screen.

Good win for the Cards...Those penalties are going to kill the Cards...they must be more sound! I love that they went "live" most of the week in practice!

Trevarthen gets hurt every game...he is quick, but must keep his feet churning when hit! He gets killed every game because he just stops and tries to absorb the blow!

Had a good time at the game. A little chilly, but not too bad.

I took a couple of things away from this game.

First, the Murrell kids was a stud! Too quick for the Tigers.

Second, Barnes is WAY too small to be an effective QB in the Tony Franklin System. There is no way he can see the entire field and that is one thing that you've got to have if you are going to run the system effectively.

Best of luck to both teams in the play-offs!!

Mayfield didn't need to open the offense up, but I would have liked to have seen it happen, the defense was playing in the box just like Calloway, Fulton City, and Marshall have done against us, nobody is respecting our passing game. I simply would like to see some more passing mixed in there, but how can you argue it when your running game is looking so good. The bright thing I saw last night was our defense playing up closer to the receivers, we were there to either block the ball, make the interception or the tackle on several downs, I haven't seen that all season, maybe in the Graves game, but the defense looked superb. The offense was much improved, just has to not cave when they get into the red zone, not sure what is going on there.
