Just got in late, and I wanted to read some comments about "the football GAME", however there seems to be very few comments about "the GAME"??? Pretty sad thread, sort of embarassing, did many of you all even go to the game? Most comments are not even related to the game itself, mostly at each other. Sad.

I was thinking, that I'd like to see discussion about "the Game" itself, not about the AGREED upon decesion to postpone it, it should be a really good gam, dontcha think?

I NEVER cease to be amazed at how serious some people take "a GAME", amazing isn't it?

There was an All Star game this year, of some sort. Played at Fairview, it was an East-West game of some kind. Tom Posey at Mason Co. was the organizer. I hope it continues, and does well.

hmmmmmmm, it didn't appear that way, but, maybe so.

This should ne a great GAME, it is "just a game", kids... playing... a game.

My preseason picks for the 16th region for 2006-2007 1. Rose Hill- Faulkner, Queen, and Terry are going to be tough 2. Russell- Fortman and Okora, plus one of the best coaches in the state. 3 West Carter- They will have 5 guards who can shoot the ball and they are all quick, plus they can handle the ball and take it to the hole. 4. Raceland- They are going to be very good this year. Seals- Division I, plus the Porter sisters along with Vanderhoof. They could be #1 before end of the regular season. 5. East Carter- Coach Easterling will have his girls ready. Tackett and Myers are back plus a great young cast of girls. They had a great summer, they will be one of the best teams this year in the 16th region. Coach Easterling one of the best coaches in the state. Period! 6. Boyd Co- Returns 4 starters back plus they have 3 really good guards. 7. Ashland- Watch out for these girls! They will be very tough this season, they have beaten almost everyone this summer. They are young and Coach Coach Bradley has a lot of girls returning that can shoot with anyone. 8. Rowan Co.- They are young and they play hard. The question will be how will they score? 9. Morgan Co- They have a new coach with a lot of young talent. Leslie Eagle may be the best athletic guard in the region with Whitney Seals. 10. Fleming Co- Don't forget about the Lady Panthers. Coach Orem still returns a lot plus her kids play very hard. They can beat anyone on a given night. One of the best defensive teams in the region.

This new freshman is a good player and very athletic but she is coming into a new system. I've heard through the grapevine that the Lady Vikings have another tough schedule this season. Bryan Station, Henry Clay, Lafayette, Scott County, Montgomery County, Louisville Assumption, Mercer County, Mason County, Woodford County and Lexington Christian.

Without a doubt, Coach Thomas would be a great assistant at the collegiate level with recruiting, counseling players, and inspiration. He has to be one of the best defensive coaches in the state of Kentucky. I'm sure that Coach Thomas will be back next season for the Lady Vikings. They have everyone returning except Wientjes, plus the addition to Madison Furman next season should help them tremendously. I've had the opportunity to watch several of his practice and they are so intense. I've never seen girls go so hard in practice. There was no standing around, they were always moving with a purpose and always communicating constantly. All they did was DEFENSE the whole time. I believe they did one shooting drill in his practice and that was it. It just amazed me how hard they went. No wonder his girls play so hard for him. His young players he had should be more mature and experienced for next season.

I think Coach Euton of Rose Hill and Coach Thomas of Rowan County should get Area Coach of the Year. I thought Rose Hill had the best talent in the 16th Region with Queen, Faulkner, and Terry- all Division I players. I thought Coach Euton did a good job by keeping the Rose Hill's team together though they may have had problems early in the year. I thought Coach Thomas o fRowan County did an excellent coaching job with losing 4 seniors from last year's state tournament team, but he didn't have 6'1'' Madison Furman, 6'3'' Suzanne Brown, and Casie Waltz who was supposed to be back this season but decided not to play. Suzanne Brown had like 26 points in the state tournament against Montgomery County. I thought he did a fantastic job having one of the youngest teams in the state ( 3 eighth graders, 6 fresh, 3 soph's 1 jun, 1 sen.) to bring back to the finals of the regional tournament. Though his record wasn't the best because Rowan played: Sacred Heart, Scott Co. Lexington Catholic, Woodford Co, Lafayette, Lexington Christian, and Henry Clay. If Coach Thomas would have substituted these games with other teams I'm sure Rowan's record would have been a winning record by far. I think as a fan in the 16th, I believe Coach Euton and Coach Thomas deserves Area Coach of the Year.

I will keep you posted. I think he's had a great 2 year career at Rowan County. 2 61st District Championships 2 16th Region Finalist 1 Regional Championship Plus having one of the youngest teams in state and bringing them back to the finals. Very impressive.

Rowan County's Troy Thomas has been offered an assistant coaching position at Virginia State University (men's basketball). He flies out next week to interview for the position but will not make any decision until he visits the campus and returns to Morehead. Best of luck Coach Thomas. If you go, we will sure miss you at Rowan County. You have definitely been one of the best young coaches in the state of Kentucky.

Lady Royals just had to much talent than Rowan County. It was hard for the Lady Vikings to maintain Queen, Faulkner, and Terry. But everyone in Morehead, KY is proud of Coach Troy Thomas. I think he is one of the best young coaches in the state of Kentucky. We just hope that he will be back next year for the Lady Vikings. I know there are a lot of job opportunities that is knocking on his door.

I think Coach Thomas could be a coach at the next level. He was an administrative assistant for 3 years at MSU with Kyle Macy and an assistant for Lake Kelly who coached at Austin Peay, Florida State, and UK (2 years). Rowan County is very lucky to have a coach like him in their school system.

You must give credit to Coach Troy Thomas this year. Who would have thought that Rowan County would get that far. 3 eighth graders, 6 freshman, and 3 soph's and 1 junior. Wow!! He is definitely a great defensive coach, and he should be tough for next year if he doesn't take another coaching job.

Rowan County Girls were awsome tonight. I am so proud of them. Most of them are freshmen and eight graders........watch out the next few years. Its going to be Rowan all the way. The reason why is because they have the best coach in the Region. He can flat out coach.

Good riddance.

Anybody remember Marshall Sidebottom, whatever happened to him? As I recall he was a good announcer. Jim Forrest does a good job, but he tries to "ref" more than ANYBODY.

Dickey Martin is as good as anyone, He's excellent, especially when he doesn't "referee" at the same time. hehehe
