Rowan County Girls Should Be Tough Next Season

Featured Replies

Rowan County might be the early favorite to win the 16th region next season. Coach Thomas will only lose one senior and will have two good players joining the team that didn't play last season. Look for them to play a tough schedule and then be ready to win the tournament in March.

There are playing for 2nd.

Don't make a post like that without explaining. Who is far and away better?

I was very impressed with Coach Thomas and they way the Lady Vikings played. I agree that they will be one of the favorites.

Rose Hill has to be the favorite. Two Miss BB candidates.

I don't even really like girl's basketball, but I'll take Rowan County next season.

Sorry just don't see it. They were 12-18 with 1 decent win over West Carter. Got blown out by the good teams most of the time. Having everybody back isn't always a good thing.

Was the 63rd District removed from the 16th? I thought Russell, the second best team in region last year, and Raceland had the majority of their teams back. I guess those two teams will get worse over the summer.

It takes good guard play to win, as Russell found out last year, and Rose Hill graduated 3 good ones. The Lady Royals have a lot to replace. I can't see them being the favorite.

That's what I'm thinking - I would probably put them behind Rowan County and Russell. I have never seen Raceland play, so I can't speak for them. Also, I'm not sure what West Carter has next season either.

How about East Carter?

Sorry still don't see it. Sure guard play is important, but younger Faulkner is back. You've got 2 of the best 5 players in the state back also. I've got no dogs in the fight, just my observations from watching some of the teams play.
