Best Football Radio Brodcasters in State

Featured Replies

Its awful fun to drive on a clear night during football season and listen to all the broadcasts you might be able to pick up of various games going on.

Who, in your opinion, are the best radio broadcasters and for what school? I've heard several and Marty Brennamen and Charlie Berry over at WHIR in Titletown, and Hal Goode over at Washington County get my vote.

Marty Brennaman was doing Danville games? The Reds must not pay like they used to.

We have two excellent broadcast teams in western Kentucky ... Mayfield's crew of David Rowton and former coach Paul Leahy and the Marshall County crew of Jeff Waters and Co.

I'll give ya Routen and Leahy. Don't get to listen to them much but always enjoyable when the opportunity arrives. Leahy doesn't hold back and I think Routen has a good radio voice. But both are very informative and up to date with the rules

Just wish the Friday night football radio show would return that Routen use to do. That was tradition to listen to that before the game started on Friday nights.

Wish WPSD TV would get a Thursday night Football show and have Routen and Joey Fosko co-hosting.

It's Charlie Perry who does Danville games.

But the best is on the sister station. Boyle County's play by play man (and Danville's for 10 years) is Steve Bertram. No one else compares for professionalism, smooth call and frank analysis. Steve's been at it since 1974. One of the best. :thumb:

If you want someone who is fair and honest with his calls. Someone who calls it as he sees it and someone who is professional then Steve Bertram is your man!!!!!!! Steve doesn't sugarcoat anything for any fans that are listening. I can truly tell you that if I miss a game, I can just listen to it on the radio and it's like I am there watching it. They just don't come much better than Steve.

Dicky martin is the best play-by-play amn when doing non Ashland games.

AT41........We all know everyone from Ashland is best in your mind.

I have to admit I think St. X broadcast are pretty good.

Spears/Sass/Birk do a nice job. Now that Sass guy can kind wear on your nerves because he is so rah,rah X

Steve Bertram at Boyle county should be doing College or Pro radio. He just has the voice and knowledge that is great for radio. :thumb:

Amen, I like Spears but the rest of the guys with Bisig are not very good. The Trinity and X guys are too much on the homer side of callingt the action.

I'm sorry, I meant Steve. It was midnight when I posted and I was simultaneously reading a Reds ad with Brennaman in it and wrote his name instead. :creepy:
