  1. Saying that Bourbon struggled over the last 3 years is putting it very lightly! They've gone 0-30! This doesn't sound too good for the Mustangs, but I am glad that The Colonels seem to be on the improve! Good luck to both teams next week!!!
  2. Sounds like Coach Hyder and the Wildcats are ready to make a run at this competitive 2A district! What did Oden look like in the scrimmage? I thought he showed a lot of promise last year as a Sophomore and he definitely makes a good 1-2 Punch with Wilfong....
  3. Does anybody have details on this scrimmage? Just wondering how Brossart is shaping up for its first year of Varsity football....
  4. All the boys from Beechwood have been hearing is that they will walk to the Class A Championship....Maybe they needed to be taken to woodshed in order to get more focused...I'd be very surprised if they don't look much better next week versus Dixie in the season opener.... On the other hand, sounds like the Rebels have the pieces of the puzzle coming together a little earlier this year than in recent years....I look forward to that 6A No Ky district...It should be very competitive...
  5. Not only the loss of Griffin but also Brown (QB) would be a concern. Maybe they feel good about the guys in those positions, but they are still not battle tested under the lights. Those two guys really stepped it up for the Camels last year!!!
  6. Are teams with turf having more of a problem with this than when they had grass fields? Just wondering if it has anything to do with properly disinfecting those fields....Bottom line is that kids need to clean themselves before and after practice so those things don't find their way into open wounds...
  7. I believe Coach Fisk has the right idea with scheduling, unfortunately it will be a steep uphill battle vs the big three, so 7-4 is the best they can do.....
  8. I've seen a lot of teams with these characteristics, but no talent watching during the first weekend in December To win a Championship, you need to have some good players....
  9. David Cecil Memorial Stadium, Ft. Thomas Ky or Log Mountain on a rainy day....I guess that could be a sunny day as well...Field will be about the same...
  10. Have the Cats retained their numbers from early in the summer? How are Tommy Wilson, Billy Herald, Billy Dieters, and the rest of that defense that improved so much last season doing?
  11. Beechwood should win this class hands down......If they don't, I will be shocked!!!
  12. How many Division 1 players did Coach Mueller say was on his team this Season? I thought I read that he had six, but I couldn't remember?
  13. I think Jaggers makes it easy for people to point the finger at him because he's the one making the statements in the papers, but where are the AD's in this mess? They're the ones that should have drawn up the contracts and made it "official"! They should know their team's schedules and be hunting a 10th game until they find one! If the agreement was made, then the AD at Mercer (Might be Jaggers, I don't know) should have been wearing out the Ad at Somerset until the contract was finalized. If they were doing that they probably would have sensed that something was wrong a long time ago and would have found a different opponent! No contract = No game. Every coach and AD that I've ever worked with knew that.....Sounds like Mercer dropped the ball and is looking to point the finger in order to not look bad....
  14. Great Hire by Campbell County! Congratulations to the new principal for hitting a home run in her first athletic hire! Time will tell as it always does, but I believe they got a very good up and coming coach in Scott Code!
  15. I'm just glad to see Coach Jaggers is catching up with technology and checking e-mail. A coach told me a couple years ago he tried to e-mail coach Jaggers about a film exchange and he never heard back from him.
  16. Since Schlarman did not apply, I think that Scott Code would be my choice if I were the Camels! He is young, energetic, knowledgeable, and also has a proven track record of winning at the schools where he has worked. Since he already teaches in the system, it should be a slam dunk.....
  17. This is another example of how Newport Schools and Michael Brandt are first class all the way. I'm sure Coach Ollier's connections didn't hurt as well. Looks like Wade Cruse will get a couple more overtime days after all.... In Campbell County's defense, if you've ever seen a grass field that is shared by two teams when the playoffs roll around, it isn't pretty....Newport and NCC know what that is like all too well....
  18. I've heard a possibility of interest from another ex-catholic school coach/AD a little further north on I-471.... IMO the Camels could use a young, energetic coach that may have something to prove!!!
  19. This is a great point! Bobby would be an excellent choice as HC for the Camels! He's had an unbelievable record as JV Coach for the Mustangs as well as a good record as Varsity Baseball coach. By the way, there is absolutely no way that Schlarman would leave HHS for Camel Land. Interesting to see some of the Brossart faithful exploring the possibility though.
  20. There have been some great names mentioned in this thread. I believe any of the coaches would do an excellent job for the Camels. I look for Russell to be a strong candidate due to Campbell being his alma-mater and his ex-coach Jones being the current AD... On a side note: BGGreen, you quoted me and said that "some of us have been all over Code in the past"... I know you are not referring to me because I think very highly of The Codes and KNOW that they are excellent basketball coaches. I have never said a negative thing about Code, so please get your facts straight or at least don't use a quote from me when trying to make a point...
  21. Didn't Cov Holy Cross lose quite a few seniors last season? Just wondering because they seem to be showing up in a lot of Top 10's....They could finish 4th in their district IMO...
  22. I don't know if he is interested, but Code teaches in the Public Schools still, so the move to Campbell would allow him to teach and coach at the same place again! I believe the new principal is a huge asset to athletics in general at Campbell! She'll know that the home football games are played at Bob Miller stadium, not Paul Brown Stadium....
  23. Does anyone have information on the 7 on 7 games that were played at Newport last night? I believe the teams were Newport, Ludlow, and Holmes but I'm not for sure. I'd like to know how the Post-Hesch era is looking so far....
  24. Congratulations Coach Hyder! You will do a fantastic job with the Wildcat program and I look forward to seeing you build on the winning tradition that has been established at Newport!
  25. I am just wondering what is Highlands record versus Ohio Teams under Coach Mueller? I know they have played some big time programs very tough in recent years! I defeinitely agree that they are not afraid to step up and play anybody!!!
