Since I keep seeing references to this in several other threads, I thought it might be good to consolidate the discussion? Apparently Mike Reitz is headed back to Harrison County to be the head coach; so who is the likely candidate to replace him?? This job should attract some interest given the school's size, fine facilities, good pay structure (I believe), etc. Also, how long was Reitz there, it seems like 4 years or so; and who will replace him as the boy's head golf coach??

Campbell County shouldn't have much trouble attracting the attention of top notch coaches looking for a job. A school of that size and with their facilities should be enough.

I agree 100% with your statement but on the other hand Campbell County has being going through a lot of coaches and administrators the last few years so I could see some coaches being a little shy.

If Buddy Biggs is the person they want I think plan B should be in order. No chance to get him from Ashland!

Situation with Sullivan a few years back might make some coaches uncomfortable but the facilities and school size would seem to be pretty enticing.

 

How about a hire from within the district? Good time for Code to leave Brossart, is not going to have another group come thru like last years senior class for a few years, if ever.

They may modern facilites and a large talent base but just can't see the fascination with this job. It's in northern Kentucky, a football area, sharing the spotlight with numerous other schools and many things do in the winter besides getting behind a high school basketball team. I would rather coach at a school that has all the attention on it and basketball is the number 1 game in town. Mr. Biggs has only known life at basketball schools and having the attention of the whole community on his program. Once again can't see him taking this job and in my opinion it would be a hard sale for lots of people.

The Sup. that caused all the changes in the Sullivan era is long gone, and the principal that caused the football coach and AD to leave is gone now too. The new principal is more athletically inclined and I think it would be a great place to coach if indeed Reitz is leaving.

Biggs would be very interested and would likely take the job, in my opinion.

 

However, it is tough to find coaches this late in the game, because teachers/coaches are getting within that 30 day window of school starting, which precipitates superintendent approval for getting out of a contract.

 

Rumor earlier this year was that Reitz was going to retire, but he needs another year or two to reach full retirement.

 

Odds on favorite for the Campbell County job, in my opinion will be either Mike or Scott Code from Brossart.

I certainaly hope not for Scott, we woud be losing a hell of a coach, any body think Sullivan, Holmes head varstiy assistant and J.V head, would be perfect for this job.

Sullivan would not take this job as he is next in line at Holmes when Henley leaves.

It heard it officially on Friday that Coach Reitz is leaving. He has been with our camels for the past four years. I must admit that many felt that he would have more success than what has been accomplished. Regardless of his record, the program is in better shape than it was when he got it.

 

I hope the administration finds someone from the 10th region that understands the area. I think there will be plenty of people to apply and that the new principal will do whatever is needed to find a great coach.

Carr would be a great choice but either of the Codes might make more sense as coaching at Brossart makes them a little more knowledgeable about the goings on at the county high school.

I don't know if he is interested, but Code teaches in the Public Schools still, so the move to Campbell would allow him to teach and coach at the same place again!

 

I believe the new principal is a huge asset to athletics in general at Campbell! She'll know that the home football games are played at Bob Miller stadium, not Paul Brown Stadium....

What about the JV coach--Bradshaw I think his name is? Isn't he a candidate? He knows the school, the players, etc.
