I will say this--As a Brossart supporter, I'm flattered than other than Coach Russell, or the ones that have apparently turned the job down (your info, not mine); vistually every coach recommended on here by Camel faithful are either ex or current Brossart Coaches or players!! Usually the small schools hire no name people and turned them into coaches that later go onto bigger schools. Same thing happens in college. I guess you get all the props since you are in charge at BBHS. congratulations on hiring good coaches!!!

I'd hardly call Willie, Mike or Scott Code "no names" when they came to Brossart--Some pretty good success at Highlands?? Maybe out south you'd consider them that, but sometimes "Name" coaches just don't work out--I'm sure you can recall some?? And for the record I'll have to take NO credit for their success at BBHS, but you may want to send an e-mail with your congratulations to Mr. Webster--the AD!!

Do you think that Willies first year coaching at Brossart Campbell County would have wanted him. He went to BBHS got a nice resume and now he is a qualified coach who would be great for CCHS or any school. Code was definitely a proven coach when going to Brossart. On another note I think you are being a little biased to some of the CCHS fans on here. I know there are a couple people on here that have said bad remarks about Brossart and that is because they are stubborn of the fact that BBHS has dominated CCHS in basketball 0ver the past few years. IMO the reason for this is that BBHS has feeder schools where just about everyone plays ball. At CCHS there is now no a league for little kids so it is harder for them to find a team.

You may be right that many of the negative comments have tended to stick in my mind, and that it's by no means ALL or even most of the Camel faithful who post on here!!

 

You're right on the participation at the grade and middle school levels, and I recall at one point last season; as many as 16 kids from Brossart feeder schools were starting at area high schools, so its hard to argue the success of allowing and encouraging everyone to participate and learn!! The new coach will need to promote the grade & middle school programs, and looking at the names mentioned, I'm sure they will do so!!

I just got off the phone with my brother who works at 5/3rd bank in kroger. He said a lady purchased CCHS aparel and then stopped into the bank where a big transaction was made. Well the lady is Mike Codes wife.

 

Later, They were spotted looking at horse farms near southern Campbell County.

 

I looked into the airports traveling report and realized a personal plane had been departing and arriving from Codes house out to CCHS. He has obviously secretly meeting the athletic director.

As a bystander, but follower of both schools, I find it interesting all the bashing that goes on between both schools. Why can't everyone get along?

I know that Coach Maddie and Enzweiler are the best of friends and they went to the rival schools. This thread is about the next coach, not how CCHS is trying to hire Brossart coaches, etc. I realize that BBHS has enormous success the last few years and CCHS has faltered, but in all respects isn't it about the community and the kids? Mike Code is an excellent coach and everyone knows it, so let it be. He does get the best out of his kids, but they have been talented as well. Please don't make this about Brossart and Campbell, it's about both programs bringing out the best in their players.

Lets face it. Anytime you have a huge rivalry some things get taken to far. IMO this all didn't get started until the first time Brossart beat CC which by the way was before Willie even got to Brossart. Lets not forget the stage was set before Willie even got to BB. The first ever district title was won in the school's 50 some odd years of basketball the year before Willie became coach with a team that had suffered some tremendous injury to Nathan Seiter who only played in a handful of games that season. Willie did a great job but.......the turnaround started prior to him coming in. If he was to go to CC they would improve immediately. However.......lets make sure credit is given to the coaching staff who spent 6 or 7 years prior to him coming and building the program that led to him building on it more and taking it to levels that even the most rabid BB fan couldn't have imagined.

Does it seem that Campbell County gets more than their share of press regarding personnel changes (from superintendent all the way down to rank and file teachers/coaches)?

Come on everybody, we've talked about current Brossart Coaches and a former Brossart coach but we have left out a "Crosstown Legend Coach" and a family favorite. The one man who has stood the test of time through the entire rivalry with his intensity and in your face attitude, his name...Robert "Bobby" Rowe!!! He has coached under Willie and Mike so he has had the best of both worlds.

 

This is a great point! Bobby would be an excellent choice as HC for the Camels! He's had an unbelievable record as JV Coach for the Mustangs as well as a good record as Varsity Baseball coach.

 

By the way, there is absolutely no way that Schlarman would leave HHS for Camel Land. Interesting to see some of the Brossart faithful exploring the possibility though.

Bob Rowe is indeed an excellent coach and tremendous motivator. He fills the JV role perfectly, transitioning the freshmen and underclassmen to the rigors, discipline, and intensity of varsity basketball.

 

His career path however may be headed in a different direction as he now has his Rank I, will be formally named the Assistant Principal of Brossart High School for the coming school year, and is serving under a principal perhaps a year away from retirement.

 

On the Willie topic, the comment was only IF, based upon the post by NYRangers that he knew for a fact that Willie had applied and had spoken to the super on two occasions. IF Willie were interested in the job, he would certainly be a viable candidate.

Has Harrison County formally named Coach Reitz the new coach yet? I couldn't find anything anywhere about it? I did see on the state Dept. of Ed. state website that they did have a PE opening at their high school.
