  1. A good showing from the Birds. The Highlands d will need to contain better if they plan to go beat teams like this though. Too many bites on the inside play action leaving the ends exposed or receivers open down field. I'm sure this will be worked on in practice this week. Kramer showed he is a legit Mr. Football candidate. Much more exciting to watch than the back from X. I bet he produced more all purpose yardage today too. Cecil had a solid game as well. I wish Mueller would open up the offense a bit more. Some intermediate passes and more screens but please, far fewer long balls. Good game Birds, another tough defeat but you all showed a lot of heart!
  2. The Birds played very well tonight. They kept Elder's offense in check all night. Elder had only 1 sustained drive and 2 TD's that came not on drives but on single plays after Highlands mis-play on punts. Other than that the Birds stuffed Elder all night. On offense, the birds probably doubled up Elder in total yards. The Elder defensive line did little in the way of pressuring Cecil . They may have sacked him once. Anyone that was watching the game knows the better team did not win tonight. If those same teams line up for 10 games, Highlands wins at least seven. Unfortunately tonight they just made too many mistakes. And don't let anyone tell you that Elder pressured them into the mistakes or caused the turnovers. No, Elder just benefitted from the mistakes, they had no hand in causing them. Good game Birds, you can sleep well tonight knowing you bloodied up the big guy from across the river.
  3. Actually, we could use some support over on the Yap. One post from thisw side of the river and you get dogged by 10 west siders in response!
  4. Definately there with the entire extended family in tow!!!!
  5. I have mixed feelings about this one. I would like to see the KY team beat the Ohio team but I also want Elder undefeated when they come into Ft. Thomas the following week. There will be much more intensity if both the Birds and Panthers are undefeated for the game.
  6. Don't forget, the Birds are still a long way from finalizing the JV squad, still lots of kids getting well deserved looks so lots of players that will be playing more down the road are rotating in for now. The scores will only get better for the Birds JV squad.
  7. Highlands will be up by 6 TDs by the half. Running clock early 3rd quarter. Conner will be hard pressed to surpass Dixie's 61 yards of total offense and -11 total yards on the ground.
  8. Highlands 28 Dixie 7 final. Crawford rushed well and Ollie Head returned a punt for a TD. Jimmy Hall had several nice catches. Buten several catches as well. Urlage and Horner had Int's and Reed almost had one that was ruled no catch. O'brien had a good day receiving. Hickman as always was tough on the defense. Overall a very good game for the Birds JV
  9. There was nothing unkind about the Muddle Huddle on the p.a.t. Those are legit plays and Highlands looks as if it will be a big part of all p.a.t. attempts this year. Why not take the easy two when it is there?
  10. This game was not as close as the score would indicate. Dixie had 2 first downs the entire game (1 late with their varsity against Highlands JV) and probably less than 80 total yards. Really an ugly game.
  11. There will be absolutely no individual tickets sold for this game. Elder has received a total of 2000 tickets for their fans and all Highlands fans must purchase a season pass, student pass, all sports pass or senior citizen pass in order to see this game. There are enough parents, and students and relatives along with other die hard birds fans, that the game will sell out well befor any tickets will be left for individual sale. Besides even if some individual tickets just happen to come available, There is no way they get into Panther fans hands. I'll personally buy 10 or more if necessary in order to keep Birds fans in and the Purple crowd out. And I'm not alone.
  12. I think the only RB in Nky to give Kramer a run for the money as the area's best back will be his team mate, Josh Conner
  13. The JV game was completely one sided for the Birds. Male had 3 possessions of 10 plays each and netted about 40 total yards. The Birds had 2 possessions of ten plays each and scored twice and moved the ball at will. Very good O and D displayed by the JV squad!
  14. The score could have easily been 28-0 Birds. Two balls were dropped in the end zone. Have to chalk that up to first game jitters. Come regular season those balls will be caught by the Birds receivers.
  15. Will any other team in the state score 52 points on Male this season. No way!
  16. I cannot believe some at Cov Cath actually want to see coach Ray come back even for 1 season. Cov Cath lives to beat Highlands and in coach Ray's tenure they did that very infrequently. The Colonels should beg the new coach to stay.
  17. UK, if you follow the simple instructions I gave in my previous post, it is very easy to find the archived weather data. If you find it too difficult, that is a problem for you. Try again and this time try typing more slowly. I typed this post very, very slowly so you would be able to understand it.
  18. If anyone cares to do some fact checking, log onto (weatherpages.com). You can look at the weather for any area for any previous dates. I looked up the middleboro/Piner area for the week leading up the the Nov. 26, 2004 game against the Bluebirds. From November 21st all the way through game day the 26th, temperatures were in the low to mid sixties during the day and there was zero percipitation for those six days. ZERO. So explain the sloppy field conditions now. You can go to the web site and check it out yourself. Just type the city/state and zip you want to research then when the area comes up, just type in the desired dates. It will show you the exact weather conditions and percipitation totals for the area on the dates chosen. And by the way, this is not posted as an excuse for the game. Remember, the Birds won, Mud and all. No excuses needed. Just stating facts.
  19. that the game is played on "grass" if it is played on log mountain. Usually when quicker teams from up north visit around playoff time, the grass is gone, replaced by several inches of good ol Bell County mud. Funny weather they have down there. Or is Log mountain built on a natural spring that always seems to overflow in November?
  20. If anyone from Hiighlands knows, what is Ball benching? and how about Ledney? I know they are 1 and 2 in the weight room.
  21. Does everyone from Bell Co. think Roark is running and hiding? Maybe he has no desire to play on a watered mudhole every 2 years. Or is that privilege reserved only for certain visiting teams?
  22. So that means Highlands is actually the owner of Bell County since the last time the Birds played there they won. Right?
  23. And Lord knows Brigit and the KHSAA never blow a call. :dancingpa
  24. Leatherneck, If Ledney has 4 years of eligibility to use and has been ineligible these past 2 years, then would he not still have those 2 years of eligibility left to use? I know that sounds confusing but it seems to me he should still have 2 years of eligibility to play. Especially considering the kid has never played a season of any sport of any kind for any school. I have no idea what kind of football player he will be and neither does the anyone else. I would like to see him get a chance to show what he can do. I hear he squatted 405 lbs this afternoon. Wow!
