  1. Thanks for the info. I thought since Vince is working out in the weight room with the guys he was definately cleared to play this season. I would be willing to contribute to a legal fund to help this kid fight the KHSAA on this one. The board is proving once again they are not only human, but that for them, to err is a way of life. Free Ledney!
  2. He was only ineligible for his Freshman and Sophmore years. He is going to be a Junior and is now eligible. This kid is going to be a really good addition to the team. I still do not understand how he was ineligible in the first place. He started at Highlands as a Freshman and they ruled him ineligible because he took accererated classes at Latin as a seventh and eighth grader and got high school credit for those classes. Go figure.
  3. From A thru AAAA, what is the top team in NKY this year? Lots of talent in all classes, but who is the best of the best?
  4. The Birds will have good size on the line. Matt Rogers is back and another big man named Ledney who is second only to Ball in the weight room. Draper will have plenty of protection and time to throw with the big men on the line.
  5. This debate is ridiculous. The only division that privates dominate in football is 4A. Look at 3A, Boyle and Highlands are able to hang, Rockcastle and Bell can hang with anyone in 3A. There are some years that any of these teams could hang with most 4A programs including Trinity and St X. It has not been too many years ago that Highlands beat Trinity on Trinity's home field. There has been no monopoly created. Leave well enough alone and simply work to make your school team better. Get involved. Join the boosters, volunteer your time, donate money, whatever it takes just go out and do it. That some public schools can do it should be an inspiration to all public schools. It just takes an entire community to get it done. Just do it and quit complaining.
  6. Wow! I did not think there was a team around that could hang with OJ and NCH.
  7. Birds seem to have the private school's numbers this season. Great start to the season Birds! Keep rolling.
  8. Just think how good the Birds would be this year if Matt Roberts had not moved across the river to Moeller. I have not heard how he is doing there but he would have really added somthing to this team.
  9. Actually, I know there were about 40 more HHS students that could not get in. Lots of the football players that were lifting until around 6pm jsut did not get there in time. Would have been even louder with them in the house!
  10. Finally? that is now 7 out of the last 13 games for the Birds.
  11. Update, Highlands now leads this latest era 7-6 with the 56-54 win tonight!!!!
  12. 4A will indeed be an interesting mix this year. But the #1 spot will be wire to wire Highlands. They may lose to St. X early on but that should not be enough to knock them from #1.
  13. Blue, the Enquirer today (Friday 6th) showed the 12 meetings since 1998. The teams are 6-6 against each other and Highlands averaged 54 points, Cov Cath 53 in that strech.
  14. By the way, Highlands had a placekicker 2-3 years ago that has downs syndrome. He was an inspiration to everyone on the team and in the community. He graduated and is now an assistant coach for the Birds. So don't go breaking your arm patting yourself on the back for your "accomplishment".
  15. You make my point. The kids would have made it academically at any school. For Fritz to say they could not cut it at Cov Cath is a ridiculous statement. It had nothing to do with the teachers at Highlands being better than at Cov Cath, I just had to get a dig in at Fritz's expense.
  16. And this post has what, exactly, to do with mine? I'll wait...
  17. Since you are such good friends with the teachers at Cov Cath, you should ask them why they were unable to properly prepare those students for the rigors of High school academics. It seems the teachers at Highlands were able to pull it off. All those players graduated and earned diplomas. Plus, as a bonus, they got State Championship rings!
  18. Fritz, the academics at Highlands are second to none. Always the top academic school in the state. Cov Cath being a non public does not get evaluated by the same ratings system. I'm sure Cov Cath has top notch academics, but do not attempt to belittle the academics at Highlands. You are only showing your ignorance.
  19. Blue, have you bothered to look at the scores of the games in the past several years? How can you possibly say CCH has bee dominating since the Lorenzen/Smith era?
  20. I know it is heresay and not admissible in court, but, I actually talked to a Bell county fan and was told that there is sometimes a pumper truck brought to the field to give mother nature a hand. He may have been shining me but then again....
  21. I agree that Dale knows his team better than anyone. But, a matchup with NCC rather than an Elder, Colerain or St.X, would be less bruising and would also leave no doubt among the NCC fans as to what team is the Big Dog in town. I just get sick of hearing NCC fans (not in here, but on the street) spouting off about how the Breds can matchup with the Birds and how the game could go either way. The NCC fans are all pumped about the recent successes of their freshman teams. But the offer has been made for the frosh teams to meet up and NCC always declines (you know who the AD is). Both Frosh teams have gone undefeated the past 2 seasons and a game between the 2 would have been huge both years.
  22. Usually a great rivalry has teams that beat each other on a regular basis, where one team does not dominate and games are always in doubt. (Think Michigan/Ohio State) This "rivalry" has none of this. Highlands has dominated this series for years. Cov Cath's previous coach had a record of 2-15 against the Birds during the Mueller years and the new coach is 0-1. So 16 of the last 18 games have been won by the Birds. Why Is this a great rivalry?
