  1. A Highlands/NCC game would benefit the Birds because of eh playoff atmosphere that would surround the game. The entire area would be up for the game and the teams would get super pumped. A win in that situation would be great playoff preparation. I personally would love to see the matchup rather than the bruising games against the Cincinnati teams. The school size matchup is much closer as is the size of the players overall. I won't hold my breath though. Schneider would sooner play Colerain or Elder than matchup with Mueller and the Birds. Too much for him to lose if he got blownout by the Cake eaters and he, no doubt, knows that would be the outcome.
  2. Hmmm. then regardless of the outcome of this game, both teams will be vastly different come playof time.
  3. I have heard that there are several Big guys planning to play ball at Highlands that did not play last season for one reason or another.(no, they are not transfers!) Matt Rogers 6' 1, 250, Zack Rawlings 6'2, 250+, and two others whose names escape me but I know them to be big boys that may be able to fill holes or block effectively if called upon. If these guys do come out and work hard, there will be no doubts left about the O or D lines for the Birds next season. Both Rogers and Rawlings are very strong and could contribute immediately. Lots of athletic talent, reasonably quick feet for their size etc...
  4. When does Dixie play the Birds next season? That may be the first big test for the Colonels. The Birds should be very good by mid year after Draper has a chance to settle in at QB and the O and D lines mature. If Dixie gets them early in the year they have a decent chance of making a game of it. If it is mid to late season, the Birds will roll. They are going to be very tough defensively and the O will more than hold its own.
  5. This is not a penalty but I would like to see the ball come back to the original line of scrimmage after a missed field goal. As it is, ther is a bonus given the kicking team if they miss a long field goal attempt and the ball is placed at the 20 for the ensuing drive. Why would a team not try the 45-50 yard field goal if they automatically set the opposing team back to the 20 if they miss it?
  6. And Highlands is a 3A school that routinely takes on all comers regardless of class. Colerain, Elder and all the Kentucky big schools. No ducking anyone. Beechwood is the same way. The only NKY school that claims to be one of the best around but fails to prove it, by playing the best, is Schneider and the Breds. Not that the players have anything to do with the schedule. That is all on Bob. So if he wants his critics silenced, it is time to man up and take on the NKY has to offer. Then there will be no excuses. For now, the Breds have a title for 2005 but they are only the 2nd best team in Campbell county or for that matter the 2nd best team in a 3 mile radius of their school. The NCC fans should lobby Bob to take a trip up the hill and meet the Birds to settle this on the field. But if all NCC fans have the same attitude you do, then you can go on forever playing second fiddle to the Birds.
  7. If Bob wants to show that he is THE man in NKY, he needs to step up and take on all comers in NKY. That includes 4A teams and of course, Highlands. Until he has the stones to take on the Bluebirds year in and year out, NCC is just an also ran in northern Kentucky. NCC was probably the 3rd best team in northern Kentucky this year after Highlands and Cov. Cath. No way Schneider can ever claim to be #1 in Northern Ky. without playing the best the area has to offer. I do not see him stepping up for that. Never has, never will.
  8. Not too bad a season. The Birds ended up losing to one state champion, 2 state runners up and Colerain. Next couple of years should be fun to watch with this bunch! Lots of talent returning and a couple pretty good Freshmen too.
  9. Congrats to the Breds! Now all NKY needs is to get the 4A teams up to par with the 4A powerhouses down state! Come on Dixie, Boone, Ryle, Conner,Campbell Co.,etc....Get with the NKY tradition and start winning some championships!
  10. Wish we could get NCC to agree to a Forsh battle with the Birds to see whot the real top freshman team in the area is year after year. The Birds have had back to back undefeated freshman teams and have outscored their opponents around 600-100 in that span. Not sure exactly but in 2004 the score differential was 277-50 and this years squad had an even wider margin! I know Highlands would love to have another local freshman game and would love for it to be NCC. What will it take to get this game going? What a great natural rivalry. Many of the NCC kids live in Ft. Thomas and I believe some even play in the Ft. Thomas Jr. League. It would be a lot of fun to watch! But anyway, back to the game at hand. I voted for Mayfield in the poll because I think they will win. But I would love to see a NCC victory and have them bring at least one championship trophy back up here to Northern Ky. Go Breds!
  11. Go Lex Cath! Highlands fans are behind you 100%! Take state and score in bunches! Show everyone you are the real deal and the Birds bowed out to the Champs! Good luck next week!
  12. Better watch out with those transfer players. The Mitchell situation last year was tough to go through at Highlands!
  13. Highlands has a whole crop of Juniors to be that fill out the LB position for the birds. Every one of them is fast and every one is tough. With an off season of weights behind them, they should be fun to watch next season!
  14. Ditto to the previous post. The QB from LC was hobbling from the 1st qtr on, but toughed it out like a warrior. Hope to watch him do great things for NC State over the next 4-5 years! Again, best of luck to LC on their drive to the championship!
  15. Revere really had little to do with Ben getting very few touches last night. Your D line and LBs deserve most of the credit. The pressure they exerted on Cecil was the key factor. He had no time to get the ball to Guidugli. Ben was open on several occasions but the ball could not be thrown to him because of the D line and Lbs pressure. He was also overthrown a couple times when he was open in the end zone. So Revere may be a capable DB, but don't kid yourself into thinking he shut down Guidugli one on one. The entire Knights defense and coaching staff deserve the credit. That said, the Knights Defense was fantastic last night. If they play like that against the Rock, they win handily and move on to the title game! Good luck Knights!
  16. Guess ol Dudley will have to wait till next year for another shot at the Bluebirds. They went down in similar fashion tonight!
  17. Wow! Both Highlands and Boyle out of the running for a championship ring! I'm not sure the company that prints tickets for the AAA finals knows how to spell any other team names in the state. Good luck to all that remain! This will be a fun year of semi final and finals action. May the best team win!
  18. How does Mueller not have an answer for 8 men in the box? A screen, a slant or even the maligned jet sweep would keep the linebackers honest if you ran it occasionally. To keep dropping back to pass is the definition of insanity against a constant blitz. Lex Cath knows too well that the Birds have no screen pass or slant in the arsenal and they took full advantage tonight. I cannot imagine why you don't find a way to get the ball to Guidugli on a slant and let him take on 1 or 2 DBs in the open field. Lex Cath earned the win but were aided by very poor play calling from the Highlands bench. Good luck next week Knights! Let the Birds say they were beaten by the eventual state Champs!
  19. I've seen Guidugli catch many a ball against a 150lb defensive back this season. Most of those DBs ended up flat on their tails after fllying 8-10 yards through the air when Guidugli hit them. He looks to punish defenders after the catch. So, Revere may stick with him but he better be ready to take a hit after the catch! Hope LC has a good training staff.
  20. FC Fans were out of touch. They were whooping and dancing while there own player was laying on the turf obviously hurt pretty badly. No respect for the game.
  21. The FC QB is tough and the receivers are lightning fast. Good team. The score not indicative of the play!
  22. I cannot wait till Lamnuts get home from the long ride back to FC> Do you think he will congratulate the Birds?
  23. 3 years in a row with a running clock for Highlands-v-FC!
  24. Does Madison have a great deal of team speed? If they rely on speed, they better get someone to Bell's field and make sure the county firetrucks don't show up at the field prior to kickoff...Call it "the old Dudley rain-dance"!!!
  25. As a Highlands fan, I would rather face LC than have to play CC again. The 2nd matchup is always tougher that the 1st in this rivalry. And by the way, Ellison is the real deal. The kid can flat out play the game! He may not have had a great game this week but you can bet he will be playing well against Lex Cath. He is too tough to have another mediocre game. Sorry Colonel fans, I gotta root for Lex Cath this weekend.
