  1. Should have been over about 11PM home plate umpire called runner safe at home that was never with in 2 feet of plate.
  2. Have done homework more important than KHSAA website, Franklin County only team that I can't tell you has no chance to beat top team. I realize they beat Trinity but have not personally see them play. Outside of Henry Clay there will be no one in this region upset anyone in 43rd.Henry Clay is much tougher than anyone believes.
  3. Franklin County is only team in the middle that I haven't seen , the rest in the middle have 0 chance to win this region. Bryan Station, Sayre, Madison Central, Scott County, Woodford County decent clubs but not up to par with 43rd or Henry Clay.
  4. Ask Varsity High School kids that are run ruled and are not successful how much fun it is. Playing well is fun and at the High School level most kids either know fundamentals or they struggle. playing the right way is the thread and when fun is the main function you generally aren't successful at this age.
  5. One of the best threads you could have in High School baseball. Playing baseball at a High level( this includes High School Ball) takes a dedicated athlete. The right way: 1. Play for the name on front of Jersey not the back 2. Fun is playing competively and competing 3. Losing is not fun 4. Working is a term in baseball but it takes working on baseball skills 12 months out of the year to be good player. Not many kids will pay the price to really be as good as they can be. 5.Love of the game is paramount in becoming as good as you can be. 6.Between the lines you are competing with the other team ONLY, not your team mates. 7.Goal should be to be the dirtiest player leaving the field. 8.Lead by example not mouth. Always know younger players are watching and respect what game has given you. Great players are self made by working on game by themselves when no one is watching. 9.You EARN everything yourself by the way you play and carry yourself nothing is free. 10. If you want respect from other players and coaches Earn it. 11. Winning is not LUCK it is all the hours of practice combined with confidence that seperates the Baseball Players from the kids that play Baseball. 12. Quitting is not an option to the Player, game is never over and Champions know this and will never Quit. Good players want to be in the situation when the game is on the line. 13. fairness is not a word in sports, if you work and get the job done opportunities will arise to succeed. it is not anyones fault if you don't play or can't get it done. Sometimes game passes up skill level of players but remember players can never pass up the game. I see all the time players and parents that expect opportunities to be given for this reason or that but in High School sports its not Little League where everybody plays. There is a difference in the kids that play the game how it should be played and the kids that just want to play.
  6. LCA won the opener tonite 11-1 against Lafayette in a 43rd District double header. Dunbar was winning 7-2 against Tates Creek in the 2nd game.
  7. The 9th plays the 11th, this is what we have had on schedule in the 11th all year. They changed it around so the same teams would not face each other every year.
  8. LCA playing Niceville Fla. tonite #2 5A school in state . Play #1 5A school Pennsacola Pace tomorrow nite. Played no Ky teams but agree weather is great for baseball and spring break in general.
  9. Since when did Mr or Miss awards become career awards, Are we saying that in big programs where kids don't play varsity until sophomore or even junior years that those players can't win these awards. In basketball you see kids score alot of points because they play in weak districts others may not score the same career points because they play in tough regions for good balanced teams. the player who plays 5 years of varsity sports shouldn't have the advantage on these awards. Statistics as a whole mean nothing as far as the judgement of who deserves awards. The same goes for who signed with what college or was drafted by pro sports teams, these are judgement of potential or the fit of player with a specific team. Just because you sign with Kentucky or Duke in basketball doesn't make you better than the player signing with Tennessee. Kentucky fans know what I mean with Chris Lofton. The Miss Basketball award is suppose to be the player with the best SENIOR year, not Career.
  10. THERE IS ONLY ONE 2007 MISS BASKETBALL, when coaches vote they need to remember whats important the 2007 season. Winners of this Award should be recognized not because of where you sign in College but on what takes place on the court for that season. After a great career at LCA EMILY LONDON won KY's MISS BASKETBALL AWARD LAST NIGHT WHEN SHE WAS NAMED MVP OF YET ANOTHER TOURNAMENT, THE KHSAA STATE TOURNAMENT. After 3 coaching changes in 4 years London was unquestionably the best leader of any team in this State. She is LCA's all time leading scorer. SHE won MVP in Touchstone All A state cahampionships, MVP in the 43rd district, MVP 11th region (which another player mentioned for this award could not do even when she played on number 1 ranked team in the State) and then ultimately was Last nights MVP of the state tournament. Emily you had great career and have left it all on the court. Its awesome when you can leave your last game in High school as the State Champion. Thanks for the moments over the years we will see you in Birmingham.
  11. I don't think to many baseball players play the game for scholarships they play it for the game. To steer one from a game they love because of lack of scholarships would be the biggest mistake a parent could make. Baseball Scholarships and the opportunity to play at the next level is an accomplishment in itself and most every High School player wants somewhere to continue his dreams of playing Americas game.
  12. After watching the LCA girls team for years this team plays great together and all team members play with heart. Coach Semonds has done an unbelievable job and should get credit for the coaching job he has done. Emily London has done a great job as floor leader and the young players play with the composure of upper classmen. Anytime a school as small as LCA advances this far it is very special having watched 11th Region sports for 35 years. No one gets out of this region without bonding as a team and I hope all the players, coaches , parents and fans realize how special this accomplishment is. You have done something that you will remember for a lifetime and the rest is the icing on the cake. Remember to enjoy the Ride they don't come along very often but remember only one team can call themselves State Champion and that is the title you can claim with 4 more wins. Good Luck and Congratulations.
  13. ALL A MVP 43rd DISTRICT MVP 11th REGION MVP Emily London with tremendous Court Play and Big Game clutch performances should get alot of consideration. There are alot of good players in the 11th Region (including Gray, Novasel, Snowden) but none going to Bowling Green. If winning matters Lnodon is the choice.
  14. There is no question the 11th region has been and is this year the most competetive region in High school baseball. with 11 State Championships coming from 43rd district teams in the last 30 years it is hard to argue the toughest district much less region. Lexington Catholic returning champs(losing only 1 starter) and Dunbar region runner-up head the list. There are 16 division 1 seniors in the 43rd alone most of them already signed. There is good baseball all around the state but 11th region tough to beat.
  15. MLB this shows the problem with people knowing the difference between LCA and Lexington Catholic. The catcher you are speaking of went to Catholic not LCA. LCA turns down many athletes that either don't fit into academics of the school or the Spiritual Beliefs of the school. In all sports there have been many good athletes that didn't come to LCA because they were not admitted. I assure you LCA Baseball did not have 1 recruited player on the 2005 State Championship team. There is one LCA coach that teaches at Champions and there is one Catholic coach thet teaches there. in other posts about this subject all players were listed from LCA 2005 team and no one could tell of anyone who didn't spend most if not all of there lives in LCA way before they knew they were baseball players.
  16. MLB50 Do you know of anyone on the 2005 LCA team that had not been in that school pretty much from the beginning. If you would like list of players i'm sure we could help you out. People on this site say that small schools can't compete but when they do they cry that they cheat. The biggest difference of bigger schools and smaller schools is the ability to sustain a very high standard. Big schools have more depth and can handle the loss of players more easily. Small schools can have a couple of good classes and compete but then fall back after upperclassmen graduate.Investigate before accusing, LCA has the advantage of being in Lexington which happens to be a great city for youth baseball. Beechwood may be able to get back but not knowing the age of players I would bet they had a lot of upperclassmen and lost alot after last season.
  17. 43rd District signings: LEXINGTON CHRISTIAN: 1st Baseman Tyler Oliver MARSHALL LEXINGTON CATHOLIC : Centerfielder Ben Revere GEORGIA LEXINGTON CATHOLIC : Shortstop Jordan Root EASTERN KY LAFAYETTE : Shortstop Jason Langfels EASTERN KY LAFAYETTE : Catcher Daniel Palombi EVANSVILLE DUNBAR : Shortstop Matt Bracken WESTERN KY DUNBAR : Pitcher Thomas Royce LOUISVILLE DUNBAR : Outfielder Chris Wood WESTERN KY With 8 DI signings and already and at least a few more this will make this an interesting year in Lexington Baseball. Congratulations to this group of kids it has been fun watching you guys play together and against each other for years and wish everyone the best of luck.
  18. http://www.momentummedia.com/articles/tc/tc1607/tyleroliver.htm Here's the article
  19. The reason Football is classed is the amount of athletes and size matter more than in any other sport. Basketball and Baseball can be played at a high level with 4-5 good athletes. Football takes 15-20 athletes this is the difference . I like the fact that one team can call themselves the true State champions.
  20. Having watched middle schoolers compete at the High School level the argument that High School eligible kids should get the spots just because they are in High school is funny to me. If you are in High School and a middle schooler knocks you off the team you did not belong anyway. With the time all kids put into sports there are better things to do than sit at the end of the bench if you are never going to play. Watching OJ Mayo as an 8th grader play and make All State , what would have helped him competing against other middle schoolders? A good middle school 7th grade team played him when he was in 7th grade and lost about 110-8. Good athletes only play better when playing the best so they do have the right and have always had the right to play in High School if their talents allow. High School is about competition so let the athletes compete and the others can play intramurals or in leagues where everyone gets to play.
  21. I am not alleging any recruiting violations by any school just stating the fact that privates and publics get kids that decide to go to school together and this occurs at all schools.
  22. These guys have been playing together for 4 years so don't speak of public or private, I think if you look PRP you will see 3 starters that are 1st year players that played at Taylor County last year so let the Catholic guys enjoy their championship. Read the Lexington Herald Leader when PRP beat Boyd County the star of the game says he moved so he could go to the state tournament with PRP.
  23. Actually this isn't a win streak its the true heart of baseball in Kentucky the 43rd district. since 1980 11 state championships from this district. Lafayette has 3, Tates Creek 3, Lexington Catholic 2, Lexington Christian 1, Dunbar 1. In comparison the whole city of Louisville has 3. Baseball in Lexington is where its at and this year was Catholics.
  24. Most Lexington fans will pull for the kids they have been team mates with and seen play for years. Just because the local schools have great rivalries doesn't mean that they are jealous and won't pull for their friends. Administrators of local schools may not like Catholic but Beechwood isn't a local favorite from what I can tell. Look for Catholic to win being the 3rd Lexington team to win in 4 years.
