If he can pick up about 25-30 pounds on that 6-9 frame, look out.

He probably will be dangerous but that kid isn't putting on 25-30 pounds in 4 years. Congrats to Smith though. Coach Taylor from Morehead gets after the recruiting trail.

25-30 pounds doesn't seem all that unrealistic to me. Most good conditioning/weight training programs with a good nutrition schedule can easily add that much bulk, especially after four years.

Not at Morehead! Believe me, I know. Their weightlifting program isn't serious at all.

Are you kidding me....how would you know? MSU's weight program is outstanding. The baseball team lifts four times a week. They hired a strength and condition coach last year. They know what they are doing, trust me.

....:thumb: and not to get thread off topic, but Kevin Deweese is the head strength and conditioning coach at Morehead State. He is in charge of all aspects/physical training and conditioning for all of MSU's 18-sport athletic department.

Deweese worked at UT-Chattanooga and UK strength and conditioning program for football from 2003-2005.

Smith can add the weight, as Firebird said and if he does, with his frame the added strength will help in pitching and combined with size, arm angle and release point, in time he may become dominant for the Eagles. I wish him well.

How would I know?? I played there in 2004. Sure the baseball team lifts a few times a week but the workout schedule is ridiculous. I remember when there were days that we were supposed to do regular bench, incline bench, and close grips. If you know anything about weightlifting, you physically can't perform these lifts on the same day. Not only that, we were only given about 30-45 minutes to complete a workout that should have probably taken an hour and a half. Sure it helped aerobically but as far as strength goes, it was very minimal gain.

Now don't get me wrong, Smith could very well gain about 10-15 pounds of muscle in his time there and could be very dominate. However, 25-30 pounds is a lot of weight for a weightlifting program that is very average.

Trey, work hard though man. You could seriously make it to the next level if you push yourself.
