How would I know?? I played there in 2004. Sure the baseball team lifts a few times a week but the workout schedule is ridiculous. I remember when there were days that we were supposed to do regular bench, incline bench, and close grips. If you know anything about weightlifting, you physically can't perform these lifts on the same day. Not only that, we were only given about 30-45 minutes to complete a workout that should have probably taken an hour and a half. Sure it helped aerobically but as far as strength goes, it was very minimal gain.

Now don't get me wrong, Smith could very well gain about 10-15 pounds of muscle in his time there and could be very dominate. However, 25-30 pounds is a lot of weight for a weightlifting program that is very average.

Trey, work hard though man. You could seriously make it to the next level if you push yourself.

I was told Jon Rauch picked up about 40-50 pounds while there …

As I said above - things have changed in a positive way in the MSU strength program...Kevin Deweese worked in the Astros organization which is a plus and the players have average about 12 pound gain each. The strength and conditioning program is dedicated to baseball and it is working. Kevin was hired in last year and up until then MSU did not have a strength coach and they are reaping the benefits of him now.

About Trey working hard...so true. He has what it takes. I'm sure Trey will be pushed hard by their new pitching coach.

And while it's not easy to tell because of how lanky he is, he's added a good 25 pounds since his sophomore year. SL hoops has made a good effort toward hitting the weights, and I bet he'll pick up 10 more by March. He's going up in traffic and dunking on 6-7 kids 25 pounds heavier than him in practice.

Ben Revere of Lexington Catholic will be playing college ball at Georgia. Congrats to Ben.

"He is a two-way standout in baseball and football for the Lexington (Ky.) Catholic Knights. He helped them capture state titles in both sports as a junior last year. He batted .459 with 48 runs and 35 RBI. In his football career, he has returned nine punts or kickoffs for touchdowns and has a school-record 14 interceptions, returning two for scores. Also, he has caught 30 passes for 596 yards and eight touchdowns this year."
