The Heart of High School Baseball

Featured Replies

With this year's Championship between Beechwood and Lexington Catholic it's obvious that the heart of Kentucky High School Baseball is in Section 3 the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th Regions. Over the past 10 years, 7 of the State Champs have come from this section. Good luck to Beechwood tonight as they try to win one for the public schools.

I didn't think Beechwood was private or public. I don't know exactly what being an "independent" means, it may be public.

Beechwood is a public school, independent of the county system.

I almost forgot the "hatred" for Lex Cath throughout the public school system in Lex., So I guess we will see a lot of Lex fans in red and white tonight rooting for the Tigers? :sssh:

Most Lexington fans will pull for the kids they have been team mates with and seen play for years. Just because the local schools have great rivalries doesn't mean that they are jealous and won't pull for their friends. Administrators of local schools may not like Catholic but Beechwood isn't a local favorite from what I can tell. Look for Catholic to win being the 3rd Lexington team to win in 4 years.

I guess I'd like to see Beechwood get it just to break the Lexington winning streak!

Actually this isn't a win streak its the true heart of baseball in Kentucky the 43rd district. since 1980 11 state championships from this district. Lafayette has 3, Tates Creek 3, Lexington Catholic 2, Lexington Christian 1, Dunbar 1. In comparison the whole city of Louisville has 3. Baseball in Lexington is where its at and this year was Catholics.

Well, actually Lex Catholic in 1999 and LCA in 2005 were not in the 43rd District, but were from the 11th Region.

Also if you were going from 1980, I believe that another 11th region team won it, Madison Central...
