While I would like to see Cohen to go after more Kentucky kids, I know that college sports is like a business. You get the best "employees" you can to make that business successful. Not saying that Kentucky isn't a hotbed of talent. We have a lot of great young players. There's just so much more that goes into recruiting and choosing the best for your program.

It's just that as Kentucky has become more successful, the criteria that they will except has changed. Kentucky recruited and offered my oldest son after Cohens first year at the helm and they let us know what they were looking for as far as velocity , etc. but with my next son the standards have changed. They are now looking for kids that throw harder, are faster, are a certain size physically, etc. than they were a couple of years ago. Not that they were not looking for those same standards then, because I'm sure they were, but they are able now to be a little more selective than they were after Cohen's initial couple of seasons because of the success they have enjoyed. They are not to the point yet where they dont have to recruit and just select, but they have certainly caught the eyes of potential recruits now that a few years ago might not have looked Kentucky's way. Cohen will be very successful at Kentucky, but I too wish that maybe a little more emphasis was placed on instate kids. I think the talent is here.

Agreed FB and promotion of Kentucky HS talent, to the Coaching Staffs at various levels, including UK is a must.

And it doesn't help that the NCAA only allows 11.7 sholarships for DI programs. It's really irratating to know that Women's Rowing gets 20 scholly's. That's what these coaches have to work with.

I think that women's softball even gets 13.

I think Division I Baseball used to be allowed 13 scholarships. The "powers that be" decided to cut scholarships across the board by 10%. That left baseball with 11.7 scholarships.

It all equates to revenue, or so the Athletic Departments claim....It's frustrating.

We would be much better as parents to steer our kids to other sports. Sad to say becuase baseball is a great game. Congrats to all the young men who have signed to baseball next year.

I don't think to many baseball players play the game for scholarships they play it for the game. To steer one from a game they love because of lack of scholarships would be the biggest mistake a parent could make. Baseball Scholarships and the opportunity to play at the next level is an accomplishment in itself and most every High School player wants somewhere to continue his dreams of playing Americas game.

I was told at a coaches clinic yesterday by Johnson Central coach Shawn Hall that Matt Fyffe has verbally committed to Eastern Kentucky.
