  1. Maybe so. I just don’t think it has as much to do with regional championships as it does playing time. Only Highlands has won a 9th Region recently. So only one coach knows what he’s doing in the region? I think all of the D1 signings at Highlands indicates that CovCath does not have superior talent.
  2. I think the game time has been moved up to 6pm Central Time/7pm Eastern.
  3. Wow! Two D1 signees on the same high school team. Congratulations to Mr. Dreves! I wonder how many pitching staffs out there have two or more D1 pitchers?
  4. So it's the old, " He just got to the regional finals twice but never won it, so he couldn't possibly know what he is doing" slam. In my opinion, it takes a lot of talent and a little luck to win the region, ...any region. From what I know about Coach Roberts, he appears very competent. I hope he does well. SK hasn't been raking in many regional titles that I am aware of. Were there a lot of applicants to choose from that have regional titles? I agree with you that the alignment is screwed up.
  5. There are quite a few teams with no state championships. Only 1 team out of about 275 teams will come away with the big trophy. If you are talking about regional championships, they do have one of those. And a Sectional championship.
  6. And here is how these teams have done when playing against Kentucky schools that presently have winning records. I'm sure someone will check my work. 1 Dixie Heights 8-5 2 Boone County 3-7 3 Ryle 9-6 4 Cov Cath 8-6 5 Bishop Brossart 6-5 6 Conner 6-6 7 Holy Cross 3-5 8 Beechwood 2-5 9 New Cath 5-4 10 Campbell County 3-4
  7. Really? It's that big a deal? Tough crowd. People who are watching the game like knowing who the hitter is. The kids like hearing their name on the loud speaker. Reading more into it than that is senseless. Who cares what voice is delivering the message? I mean, other than us bloggers. The Highlands coach is trying to build that program back up. He's making things "more professional" so that kids want to play in his program. Perhaps the person that usually handles this chore was stuck in traffic. I don't know. So a Cov Cath fan stepped in to help make things more fun for both team. Cheers to him/her.
  8. At a private school, I think it would be difficult to cut a Freshmen (where mom and dad are paying tuition at that school) from a Freshmen team in favor of an 8th grader at a middle school. True?
  9. Taylor was a lefty pitcher from Dixie. He pitched at Miami(OH) and made his MLB debut with the Marlins this year.
  10. In my opinion, baseball is harder to dominate than other sports. And that's because it is difficult to put the same lineup on the field everyday. Trinity and St. X would probably not dominate in football either if they could only start their #1 QB every 4th or 5th game. This is the case even in college and professional ranks. NFL and college football teams that win championships will often win 80% or more of their games. The college and MLB World Series champs will have a winning pct. much lower than that. Also, teams hold back their best pitchers to pitch against the better teams. Therefore, because of the traditionally strong programs at these schools, they are often going to face the best that opponents have to offer.
  11. I'll bet Ty Cobb couldn't even hit .300 against Ryle's pitching. He'd get virtually no infield hits because of Ryle's fielding. And also the fact that Cobb would be about 120 years old.
  12. Jack Savage of St. X. I got to face him in my very first high school at bat. It sounded like he was throwing pretty hard. I heard them hit the mitt but I don't think I saw any of them. He didn't even waste a pitch on 0-2. I was glad to get back to the safety of the bench. He made it to the show for a couple cups of coffee with the Dodgers and Twins.
  13. Baseball is such a cool game. I know it's been said before...Baseball is life. Things aren't always going to go my way in life. So how am I going to handle it? Maybe I didn't get to play as much as I thought I should have. Did I continue to listen to my coaches? Was I a good teammate to my friends? Did I continue to pick someone else up when they made a mistake? Or did I get moody and quit? Because all of these things can affect the team. Everybody must face things that don't go according to plan. Did these people continue to do there best?... I would want people to say about me, "He continued to do the right things for the right reasons." Now, have they always said that about me? Nope. But I am going to keep trying. So you are mad because your coach didn't stay? Apparently you felt that he was a worthy coach at one time. Or you would not have felt screwed that he resigned. Right? You wanted him there for your Senior year. He took the program to a prominent level and you wanted to be part of that. But for whatever his personal reasons, the coach decided to step down. Well, how did you handle that? I'll tell you how. You went to a ceremony meant to honor the man. His family and friends were probably there to also honor him. But for your own personal bitterness, you and your buddies tried to ruin the ceremony....to embarrass the guy. To me, it says a lot more about those immature Seniors than it does about that coach. It doesn't sound like someone tried to do the right thing in this case. Who really got screwed here? Of course the ex-coach should have kept his mouth closed about the present state of the program after he left. Obviously, he wasn't perfect either. In life there are jealous people who will try to bring you down. How will you handle it? Yea. Life in the real world comes with challenges. If you are working at Kroger and the assistant manager tells you to stock the shelves, what are you going to do? You'll probably do it. But when stocking that shelf no longer has the same thrill, will you be giving the store your two week notice? Or will you give them a "couple of years notice" so they can "plan for it" and not feel screwed. I'm trying to see your point. Right now I don't.
  14. Sometimes upsets happen. NewCath was hot in the 2008 tourney. One could argue that the 2007 championship was not an upset.
