Played at Lexington Lafayette HS. Run rule after 5 inninngs. Lafayette played a fine game and Ryle certainly didn't. Good thing about baseball is there's usually a game tomorrow - in fact Ryle has two down in Lexington. Better luck tomorrow boys!

A little of both. Lafayette hits well and are most definitely a team to whom you cannot give four outs an inning such as Ryle did tonight. To add to it, Ryle had several bobbled plays in the OF that weren't scored as errors, but took away opportunities to make a play at the plate. Ryle also had some baserunning mistakes that hurt a potential big inning. Add it all up and it was a pretty ugly game. But no doubt about it, Lafayette looks good.

Don't know if you can tell from the video, but Lafayette's field is awesome. Someone puts a lot of time in on that field. The infield looks like the front lawn of the White House.

Lafayette has always been a nice field. Coach Langston and all of his staff does an excellent job with their facility and with their players. Great job Generals!

Ryle has to do the little things right to get to the next level. I saw it early in the season. I did not see the games this weekend but was told that they continue to struggle with some of the "little things". Base running, hitting the cut off man, catching the ball. They definitely have the talent they just need to get over the hump.

A lot of players, past and present have been extremely dedicated to the Lafayette program. I've always thought that this field was the best in Lexington despite the fact some others have perhaps spent even more money. It has such a feel for the past combined with improvements over the years.

 

I think Lafayette looks better this year than they have in a while. Good luck to the Generals as we head into district play soon!!

Is there an assumption that when the kids reach high school that they should know how to do the "little things." What high school has a year round baseball program? One that concentrates on baseball. Ryle is one of the biggest schools in Boone County but no championships, why? What seperates a team like Lafayette from Ryle? Are they that much more taleneted that Ryle...what is the difference?

Gee, guys, it was a bad game. One bad game. They did a lot of things poorly in this game and a good team took advance of them and took them to the woodshed. Ryle then came back and played nice ball games against two other very good teams, including beating the #13 ranked team in the state. If major league teams have occasional ugly games, I don't think it's such a big deal that a team full of 16, 17, and 18 year olds occasional look sloppy. If it was occurring on a regular basis, that would be one thing - but this game is most certainly the exception and not the rule regarding Ryle's overall performance this season.

There are quite a few teams with no state championships. Only 1 team out of about 275 teams will come away with the big trophy.

 

If you are talking about regional championships, they do have one of those. And a Sectional championship.
