  1. What a phenomenal HS baseball game. Two of the best pitchers in the region just going at it and leaving it all on the field. Harrison Co. got the big hit in this game that Campbell Co. couldn't. That's just baseball. Congrats to Harrison Co. on the W and to Campbell Co. on a great season. Coach Whitaker said after the game that it was worthy of being a state championship game, and if anyone knows, he would.
  2. The catcher caught the ball and tried to apply the tag. So, did the runner really hinder the throw and/or catch? He didn't hestitate when making the throw. I thought he made a great throw and play. Ultimately, I thought what allowed the runner to be called safe was how the ball checked up and bounced slow and high instead of skipping to the catcher.
  3. The signed agreement in the 34th is: (1) Head to Head - doesn't apply since the top 3 would've all beat each other. (2) Least amount of runs allowed against teams involved in tie-breaker - If St. Henry beat Dixie 6-3, Lloyd beat St. Henry 6-4, and Dixie beat Lloyd, 5-0, then you have Dixie allowing 6, St. Henry allowing 9, and Lloyd allowing 9. (3) Coin Flip. So by my estimation and assuming all other seed games play out as expected, I'd guess that Dixie is the top seed, then Lloyd and St. Henry will have a coin flip to see who wears white in the #2/#3 matchup.
  4. Just so you have your stats right, TOG, there was a HBP for one of your pitchers. I think Basford in the 6th on the Camels #2 hitter.
  5. Wait...at 9:46AM, you didn't feel comfortable talking about this, but at 9:57AM, in another thread, you felt comfortable calling another parent out by name. Wish you'd just stick with the "don't feel comfortable". It's probably best.
  6. Wells pitched for Scott. Threw a complete game as well, about 65 pitches. Just a classic pitcher's duel. Fun game to watch.
  7. St. Patrick and Calvary do not have teams this season. Looks like it'll be Brossart/Augusta and Robertson/Bracken in semis.
  8. What impressed me more about Seidl than his speed was that he and the rest of the Birds for that matter did a great job of getting good jumps and reading the pitcher. Great game by both clubs, who are, in my opinion, pretty evenly matched, and a good early season win for the Camels. A little execution more execution both ways and this could've been a 1-0 or 2-1 game. Pitchers were on their game as there were only a few balls that were hit hard all night. Camels caught the right breaks at the right time, and a big time AB by Losey at the end of the game to win it. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way.
  9. Yes. I don't know that I've ever been involved in a game where that has been called though.
  10. Clyde, that's my understanding of that rule as well.
  11. Extra time makes all the difference in the world. Why do you think that guys slide all the way to the back of the batters box? They want more time. The more time you have to recognize a pitch the more time you have to determine if you are going to swing or not. Think about the pitch that a hitter fouls straight back when they say he "just missed." Or the line drive opposite field that lands on the foul side of the foul line. That extra .05 seconds (while may seem miniscule) could make a difference in a swing or result. Baseball is a cat and mouse game for timing between the pitcher and the hitter. You always want extra of it, no matter how little it may be.
  12. After that game, the argument of who is better between the two should just be put to rest. Plenty of room for both of them to be spectacular (which they both are and both were) and receive all deserving accolades that come their way. Great game and congrats to Madison Central!
  13. That's a college rule. Not a HS rule. Can call a timeout in the air in HS.
  14. I can only imagine how hard they would've clocked Aroldis Chapman without the gun at GABP telling them.
  15. I believe that someone asked Cal about this last night at the draft and he said something to the effect of knowing that Martin is calling recruits because all the recruits are calling [Cal] and telling him about it.
  16. Looks like the rosters were released today and Maile is listed among the outfielders. Either that's a misprint or they really like his athleticism. Michael Williams listed as a catcher. Hudson Valley Renegades Team Roster | Hudson Valley Renegades Roster
  17. Congrats to Luke. Question though...does he sign here or does he roll the dice, stick around UK for his senior season, possibly be the premiere catcher in the SEC out of Zunino's shadow, and shoot up the draft board?
  18. I'm sure this was a dogfight that was similar to the battle they had in last years semi-finals, which Bourbon won in around 11 innings or so. Is Martin ready to go tonight for Harrison? I believe he's eligible to pitch and am sure Coach Whitaker will have him and the entire rotation on the ready to try and get the job done against Brossart. Hoping for a great title game! Best of luck to both teams!
  19. Some people will say anything to justify a loss. Harrison County was just better and won the game. Regardless of how many hits, errors, walks, wild pitches or what have you, you have to score to win and Harrison did to the tune of 10-0. You may say the region is weak, but if you've been around the 10th region long enough, you learn to never count out Harrison Co. in any situation because the kids there put their heart and soul into the program and Coach Whitaker is able to get everything out of his players for the team. Best of luck to the Breds in the region title game against Brossart. And congrats to Scott on a great season.
  20. Congrats to Ryle. Was it just me or did the 3-0 pitch on the last batter look WAY outside? Would've loaded the bases, instead game ended 2 pitches later.
  21. I would agree 100%. The times I've seen him get in trouble when he pitches are when he gets the ball up (but that's the case with any pitcher from high school all the way to the Bigs). And as you said, you'd never know how the game is going by looking at him. With a lot of room to grow and what he gets out of what he has now, I'd say he's got what you'd call a "high upside." Being left handed doesn't hurt either.
  22. Downs doesn't throw as hard as I thought he would. Not that he throws soft or anything, but his changeup is what helps him rack up those strikeout totals and miss bats. Once he fills out, the velocity will increase and that changeup should be even more effective for him. He is definitely fun to watch work though.
  23. Camels escaped bottom of 7th bases loaded no out jam using a 5-man infield and getting three straight groundball outs and escaped a 2 on, 0 out jam in bottom of 10th with a 3rd-to-1st double play on a SAC bunt attempt. Lots of excellent defense by both teams in this game. The outfield of Brossart was incredible with multiple diving catches on some hard hit line drives (one with a couple of runners on by the RF) and an assist on a throw out at home that would've given Camels a 4-1 edge to end the top of the 6th. Fun game and great atmosphere. Leaves Campbell, Brossart, and Scott all 1-1 against each other and most likely will lead to a blind draw of those three assuming each takes care of Calvary and Silver Grove in their other seed games.
  24. Only 2 CC errors? That's AWFULLY generous scorekeeping of you. Congrats to Boone on the win. Very windy conditions on The Hump today.
