Powell shot 16 free throws. JBS made 26. Powell made more field goals than JBS. Go figure. I guess that certain administrator will spend next years regional tourney's watching from the bleachers as he did this year instead of officiating. The apple doesn't fall to far from the tree.

Hard nosed Buckhorn team with nothing to be ashamed of. Breathitt played very well.

I had only seen Breathitt once this year but after last night I am a believer. They are solid and very athletic. They are the real deal. I like the Bobcats by 7 or 8. I hope they win by 30.

JBS played a very good basketball game and not to take anything from them but the officiating was horrible. JBS's 2 big men played all night and had 4 fouls between them. Clark played the entire game without a foul??? Clint played all but about 5 minutes without a foul. Cox played entire game with only 2 fouls. No consistency in the officiating on either end all night. The 14th needs to take a hard look at going outside for officials. if the kids are going to play all year to a style that is allowed in the 14th and get to the regional tourney and have to completely change because of the way the game is officiated then itis no wonder we can't seem to send the best team to Lexington and compete. Not sour grapes but the same thing happened in the Breathitt/Buckhorn game. No consistency on what was called and what wasn't called. We call charges in the 14th and I saw 2 charges called last night in 2 games!!!!!!! Good luck to whomever comes from the 14th. will be some great games on Monday.

Powell has 4 or 5 players that start and one coming off the bench that can put up points on any given night. Kinser had 2 double digit games off the bench in district,Dennis had 31 in the first game,Romans had 2 double digit point/rebound games,Pelfrey can put up points on any given night and Banks/Adams/Skidmore can all score. Well balanced with several that can hurt you.

Sounds like if Wolfe makes 70% of the free throws it is a 10 or 12 point game. Not exactly a blowout. Wasn't there and mine is second hand info.

For the slower ones on the site it means in Lexington.

Either team will be a tough draw and both have a legit shot at playing in the Bluegrass.

I heard the game was much closer than the score indicates. Coach Creech always has his Wolves ready to play in March.

Awesome event. Well executed and staffed. The Owsley administration, as always, were very prepared and provided a wonderful environment. The only thing better than the hospitality room was the people. Congrats to the Pirates and Owls. Thanks to all our friends in Booneville for a wonderful tourney.

Hazard got the best draw of the top 4 teams in the 14th. However I look for an upset if KCC and Hazard meet in the semis. I like Buckhorn over Breathitt and Powell over JBS. It will be one of the most wide open tourneys in the 14th in several years with 6 team having legit shots at playing in Lexington. The bottom bracket is tough. 4 of top 5 teams in same bracket.

Lee should make a solid effort to keep him. They have already lost their baseball coach who was among the top in the region and to lose their basketball coach would be devastating regardless of who takes over. You can't continue to change staffs every 3 or 4 years and build programs that can withstand the test of time.

I like GRC by 8 to 10. To much offense for the Indians to handle.

Powell by 12 or 14. To many weapons for this young Owl team.

He is a classy guy with a lot of heart and his kids love him. He would be an asset to any program but I hope he would reconsider and not just react with his heart. He has done a great job at Lee and has renewed some great rivalries. He has had some good years and one disappointment doesn't change the good job he has done in Beattyville. He has heart,drive,desire and his own unique style. Just what every program is looking for.

Pirates played well. Pelfrey done a great job on Berryman most of the night defensively. Great career for Cody. Christopher's points came mostly at the end when I think the game was out of reach. I think he scored 11 in the last 1 and half minutes. Still a great player but Powell done a good job on him also. What about those sophmores for Estill? They will be a force to be reckoned with in over the next couple of years.

Great win, HUGE upset, and yes it will be an exciting week in Whitesburg. Al Holland is a quality guy and if PCC pushes him out the door then it is their loss and someone elses gain.

True. It did happen and I think lee only got 2 shots off the entire first quarter.
