Now that we know which teams are playing I have a question. Who is/are the best player/players for each team in the tournament?

Romans-Powell

Clark Stepp and Cox-JBS

Hollan and Smith-Breathitt

Evans-Wolfe

Congelton-Owsley

Blank and Gay-Buckhorn

Hicks-Hazard

Mosley and Stamper-KCC

Thanks. I've heard most of those names. Which Evans are you speaking of? I know there are 2 who play for Wolfe county.

Powell has 4 or 5 players that start and one coming off the bench that can put up points on any given night. Kinser had 2 double digit games off the bench in district,Dennis had 31 in the first game,Romans had 2 double digit point/rebound games,Pelfrey can put up points on any given night and Banks/Adams/Skidmore can all score. Well balanced with several that can hurt you.

I think it might be Steve if I'm not mistaken. You are right though, there are two Evans on the team, but I think this one is their starting point guard.

Brandon Hayes of Breathitt is in my opinion the most under-rated player in the 14th region. He can shoot outside and post up with anyone in the region. His defense is stellar and if not for his athletic ability Breathitt would not be in the situation that they are in. Brandon Hayes has had an awesome senior season. Not to mention he can do the dirty work as well(such as rebounding) He always gives 110% and leaves it out on the floor every night. I wish him the best of luck in the tourny and if anyone can lead a team to victory its this young man.....Good Luck Brandon Hayes

McIntosh-Owsley

I agree with this, Adam McIntosh has played very well for the Owls and has been very consistant in his scoring.

Not to say anything negative about McIntosh because he is the most consistant scorer because he plays his original position. Congelton seems to be the leader on the team by leading by example eventhough he has been asked to adjust to the outside game when usally he'd be a foward or a center at Owsley. Seemed Congelton really pulled the team together emoitionaly and physically in tournament play.

I agree!!! McIntosh is a consistent player and has been all season. After Neeley left Owsley, Congleton had to come out of forward position to take over point guard, and as a senior who had never played this position, was extremely hard. He has give it is best shot, and at times become very frustrated.... but he has stayed with it, never complaining. And don't forget his younger, but not smaller, brother Jeremy. He has really come on strong the last three games.

Top Ten Players

1.Hicks or

2.Stepp both great players but I will take the senior.

3.Gay I like his atleticism

4 Campell brings a lot of energy to Hazard kind of like Noah does for Florida

5.Romans from Powell plays like Barkley

6.Stamper from KCC handles it well and shoots it well plays like an upper classoman and very strong for a freshmen.

7.Smith from Breathitt he might be higher but I have just seen him play a few times.

8.Blank from Buckhorn may be the best shooter in the region.

9.Cox from JBS had a really good Regional Tournament last year and I expect the same this year.

10.Collins from JBS he eats the paint up and he blocks and alters many shots

That is my opinion.

1Hicks, lmakes everyone around him better and dont forget his shooting

2Romans, has been a leader of 12 seniors and kept scored baskets when need

3Stepp, has potential to be a good player by handling ball with his size and quickness just doesnt make anyone else better.

4Gay, leads his team and has the experience to come up big with hs size and shooting capability.

5Campbell, the 2nd hand man to Hicks, any outside shooter needs someone cleaning up for him on a off night.

6Hollon, always seem to give Breathitt the spark they need at the beginning of the game to keep them rolling.

7Smith, best actual big man in the region, with Hollon's outside shooting this open the middle up so he can go to work.

8Cox, has the team to do great things just no team chemistry or organization to get him the ball in a situation to score, makes Cox force some unadvised shots.

9Stamper, only seen him play once but very athletic and runs the floor with or without the ball very well, also a great passer.

10. Blank, next best shooter to Hicks, havent seen him under a lot of pressure but sure can burn the nets.

Out of all the 14th players how many D-1 players will they be,imo we have none maybe one at most, our talent level isn't what we think it is,parents telling their kids they are D-1 material is underminding what the game is all about, just my opinion, it kinda makes the kids un-coachable with them thinking they are super stars and really they are just a solid player at best, what do you think am i that far out in under the basket on this, i would like to know what others think on our players, I do think we have several quality players but when a kid thinks and is told they are D-1 players and then they realize they are not then that is a huge let-down for them and their parents, and so tough on the coaches.......

There are 0 DI playeris this season in the 14th. The person with the best shot at it would be Hicks & he is not. I think he could play at a Alice Lloyd. But not a Morehead St or EKU. Stepp will not be able to play no higher than a Alice Lloyd or Union. Romans will most likely not even be able to play college ball. DI is for that special special talent. Basketball is the hardest sport to make it in DI.
