It has always been a great game when Estill and Powell squares off in just about every sport. A solid rivalry that just keeps getting better. Great friends in Estill Co. but bragging rights are on the line everytime they tip it up.

Longtime philanthropist and Hazard High graduate passes away at 83. Great supporter of athletics in the mountains and at UK.

14th region baseball is GREAT. It will be a fun spring to watch and play in. Some great competitors and coaches through out the region.

It is a great place to play and attend a game. Great parking, clean facilities,good floor and seating and the same officials that do games all over the 14th. I hope that was not what you were referring to?

Powell has completed a turnaround in it's basket ball program with the hiring of Kyle Lively. They are exciting to watch and very well coached. Your nephew is in good hands with the entire coaching staff. I will be surprised if they don't compete well in the the 14th regional tourney providing they beat a good Estill Co. team in the first round of the 56th District tourney. The administration at Powell has finally done a decent job of trying to keep a PROGRAM in place and not just compete every third or fourth year. Powell is one of the 4 largest schools in the 14th and should be considered a contender year in and year out. Lively in basketball and Varney in baseball is a good start in that direction.

Campbell won't play 16 minutes against Powell if they can get the ball to Romans. Romans is to strong. Hicks will get his 20 and Powell wins at home by 6.

In the state I will take LCA,Lex Cath,PRP, Christian Co.,Dunbar,St X and Trinity and give the field.

I think on the high school level anything below 7 is a good time in the 60. Most small colleges would like to see all position players around or below that mark as well.

Great win for the Bulldogs. Hold JBS to 35 points or any high school team for that matter and you are supposed to win.

Hazard PCC JBS Powell Breathitt Lee I think Hazard and PCC know how to win when they have to and what it takes to win when they need to. That't the difference in them and JBS right now.

JBS played Pendleton earlier this year and it was mentioned.

Great win and they just flat wore Estill out. Their tongues were dragging midway thru the third. Estill shot the ball horribly but there young guard and big man is coming right along and will make good players in the years to come for Estill. Berryman just couldn't find his stroke but he is still one of the top players in the 14th. Christopher was smooth and clutch at the free throw line but Powell had to many bodies to throw at Estill. Will be an exciting District Tourney! Lively done an excellent job preparing for this one.

If JBS is to win the 14th then it will take good performances by Cox,Collins and Short. The Stepps can get their 45 and still get beat. i think the key to their winning is getting good productive minutes from Short and Collins.

Pirates by 5 or 6. Will be a great game.

I do think Breathitt is a solid team but not in the top 10. As for their schedule I don't think it was a bad idea by whomever put it together. After last year they needed some confidence and some time for the younger kids to gel. I know the schedule may have been together for a year or so but someone had some foresight and it may work out for the Bobcats. Just not in my top 10. P.S. I would hate to have to play the Bobcats in the first round of the regional tourney.
