Bengals 33 Buccaneers 27
Which I will add I notice people have talked about how the they didn't make the Bucs punt at all. Which is true, and need to get better there. With that said, it doesn't really tell the whole story either. As two of the fumbles the Bengals got were on 3rd down, which if Mayfield and Irving don't fumble on those plays and simply just get tackled, they would been punting the next play then. So yes they didn't punt, but part of that was because the Bengals caused them to fumble as they were stopping them on those third downs.

Mason County 38 Boone County 26
I think Boone County will win a close game in this one.

That is kind of my point with this. Tampa Bay is a good team, they have some play makers on offense, a good offensive line, a good defensive line. It wasn't like the Bengals were going to come out and dominate them, there was going to be clear things to still fix after week 1 just like every team. As the Tampa Bay players get paid to make plays as well. The Bengals and Burrow have shown pretty consistently that they only get better as the year goes on offensively. The Bengals offensive line shown that how they ended the year wasn't really a fluke, and continued to pass protect well all game. The Bengals literally had zero pass rush last year, but their defensive line was putting pressure on Mayfield most of the game, and created two of those fumbles. The Bengals defense has been very bad the last few years, but even with that the Bengals offense has had chances the last few years to close out games, but weren't able to. Which then led to opposing teams getting the ball back, and scoring against our bad defenses. Yet in this game the Bengals were aggressive when they got the ball back and went out and won the game. So the Bengals showed a lot of improvement in areas that had cost them games in previous years. There is still plenty to fix, and with the defense while they may not end up being a top 10 type defense. They showed that with the new pass rush, and additions, they definitely should be at least a middle of the pack defense. Which would be huge, and can make all the difference in the world. As the last time the Bengals had a middle of the pack defense, they made the Super Bowl.

That sounds like the makings of a good team to me. As they had other players step up and make plays today that helped win them the game. We have seen to many times the last three years of Burrow or Chase having a huge game and yet ended up losing. So for Burrow to have a pick 6, and Chase basically being shut down. That shows me that they have the makings of a great team, that they can find a way to win still despite all that.

Can Dayton Run the Table and Finish 10-0?
Out of curiosity have you actually seen Dayton play this year? While you may be right that they wouldn't be undefeated with NCC schedule, it doesn't necessarily mean that aren't a threat to NCC this year. As I think most people haven't actually seen both teams play and just going normal past history. I have been fortunate to have seen both teams this year. This is not your normal Dayton team, and while I believe coach Brown is going to do a great job at NCC. He wasn't exactly given a normal type of NCC team in regards to talent. For the past 29 years when Dayton and NCC stepped on the field, NCC was stepping on the field as the more talented team. I am not so sure that is the case this season.

If Dayton can stay healthy, I do think they have a shot. Dayton has good size up front, and one of the best backs in the state, plus they have just very good overall team speed as a whole. I think the beat Newport by a few scores, and the NCC game could go either way.

Bengals 20 Texans 6
Every team has plenty to fix still after week one. This will be another tough game as the Texans are a good team, plus it is on the road. I loved the pressure the Bengals defensive line had in this one. I think that will be what determines the game. Which QB makes the least amount of mistakes as I think both QBs will be pressured a lot in this one.

If you want to talk about luck. The Steelers defense played great today, but yet it took an amazing playing by Watt to get a pick 6 to win today. Since their offense could only manage 13 points. Having an offense have less than 300 yards and only scoring 13 points and winning still is definitely having Lady Luck on your side.

While I agree we don't want to see Joe get hurt. Joe also scrambled around to get a first down and lowered his shoulder into a defender. The Bengals ran a QB draw for 15 yards before half. Like or not Burrow's legs when healthy is a big part of his game too. Tom Brady who is the GOAT made a living out of being great at QB sneaks too. If you put someone else in there cold and the fumble the snap, people would also then complain about how could you take Burrow out. The game was on the line in that situation, first down sealed the game. Plus you put someone else back there then you know it's coming. With Burrow they still don't know for sure if it's coming. So Zero issue from me with them doing a sneak with him. Maybe at different parts of the game, I wouldn't mind seeing them do what you suggested. Which they have had Tanner Hudson and even Flacco come in and do before. However, with the game on the line. I am perfectly fine with him doing it.

Highlands 41 Boyle County 21
All that tradition and pride didn't help Highlands win any state titles over the last 12 years, after previously winning titles in 7 of the last 8 years before that. The reason why because those previous state titles has very little effect on those current seasons and those players playing that year, because every year is different. Don't get me wrong. I would not be surprised at all if Boyle wins it again. As they truly are still one of the top teams in the state, especially when they have their full roster. However, any type of mental edge they may have had over Highlands, now won't be there after Highlands just dominated them. Then same with CovCath who did beat them two years ago. Even same with Corbin who probably only lost because of a horrible inadvertent whistle last year. Pride and tradition from previous years means very little on current teams and also who they are playing now.

Why? That QB sneak sealed the game.

Who Dey!!! Now that is a total team victory! The defense made a lot of plays. The kicking game made long huge kicks. Then the offense was able to go out and close the game out, and not allow Baker and their offense to get a chance to win it. Great win! Who Dey!!

You know what winning 5 of the last 6 means in regards to this season? Almost absolutely nothing.

Dayton 48 Ludlow 26
Out of curiosity who do you believe is their best player? I assume you are talking about either the Reed brothers, Stone, or Engelmon?

Is CAL the best “small school” team in Ky HS Football history?
When I look at this, a similar thing could have been said about Anderson which had probably more top end talent. Yet Trinity took care of them rather easily too. CAL is great, but I think Anderson would have done similar things to teams that CAL beat as well, but yet Trinity is a whole other monster and showed that when they beat Anderson.

2026 Cincinnati Bengals
So essentially you are saying the Steelers have zero QB's still that give them any chance to actually be a true threat in the playoffs, if they even make the playoffs.

Walton-Verona 25 Boone County 8
Walton-Verona travels to Boone County Friday Night at 7 pm. Boone County holds an all time 4 and 1 record in this series. With Walton-Verona picking its first win against Boone County in 2024 in Coach Pence's first season, but then Boone County went back to its winning ways with a win in overtime over Walton last year. Who wins this years matchup?
-
Alabama 45 Kentucky 17
I think mostly everyone still needs to pick Bama in this. Only because we just don't know what UK is under Stein. With that said this isn't Saban's bama anymore. As we have seen Vandy and Indiana both beat Bama in the last two years with their new coaches, when going against a Sabanless Bama team. So have to lean Bama still here, but also wouldn't be a complete shock if UK won, and also would tell us more about what UK is under Stein.

Walton Verona 33 Ludlow 0
Lots of ties between Ludlow and Walton-Verona in this one. As you mentioned Coach Pence and a few staff members are Ludlow Alums. While Coach McMillen at Ludlow started the WV football program, and then coach Barth is an assistant at Ludlow now. Obviously had a great run at WV and won many district titles and also one regional championship. So a lot of connections between the two program were on the field tonight. Which I know both teams obviously wanted to win. However, I am sure now that the game is over both teams will be rooting for each other to have great success.

St. Henry 43 Bishop Brossart 40
Not surprised St. Henry won as I knew it would be close. I am very surprised at the high score.
-
St. Henry 43 Bishop Brossart 40
If he is playing, then I may change my prediction from St. Henry winning a close game, to now Brossart winning a close one.

Dayton 56 Owen County 0
I think we will see a similar score as last year, but opposite with Dayton winning by a good margin.
