While stated diplomatically, as someone who has had the unenviable job of scheduling in the past, it is a true statement.

I'm really not sure, but will try to find out. I know that last year it was Rose Hill that wanted off of our schedule. The first match-up was originally scheduled before the now infamous "eligible date." I believe it was due to the fact that they were wanting free of games to be able to play in some more events down state. Once a team is off the schedule it is often logistically difficult to work out new dates.

I'm finding it very hard to say this, but, I agree with Scooterbob.:eek: While it is important to play good competition, winning is a habit as is losing. Girls seem to be even more susceptible to be being beaten down emotionally from getting killed over and over. I will not argue Rowan's past success, but it is not necessarily an indication of how this year's players will handle things.

The boys are refocused and ready for tomorrow. A good practice yesterday has them feeling confident. Amazing what a little confidence can do!

I am not opposed to kids playing multiple sports. However, I believe that when those sports take place in the same season you can run into problems (ie. soccer and football). The athlete is never as good as they could be at either sport when their concentration and practice time is split.

Isn't Rose Hill afraid of robbing Peter to pay Paul? In a small school setting that already offers several fall activities, won't many of those participants be lost to football? I just don't know if small schools can reallistically support that many different programs. Now if there were to be a significant increase in male student enrollment it would be a different story.

Great postseason run for the Lady Rams. Hate to see a little controversy in such a tightly contested contest. I would say that views on the call or maybe no-call is more accurate will be divided by whether you bleed orange or maroon. Good job Raceland and congratulations to Russell.

Brad Greene was the coach for several years, but when he took the principal's job last year he was told to find another coach. When Jamie Gibbs took the job last year, it was only to fill the job for a year to give them time to find a longer term replacement. The word is that Mandy Sterling (sorry, don't know her married name) will be the new head coach.

She seemed to have the program going in the right direction. I can't help but wonder if it was a basketball decision or if something else came into play. I have zero connections to Morgan County, just thinking out loud.

Most schools use something called projected grades. While, yes, things could change as to who is valedictorian, it is probably unlikely this late in the game.

Congratulations to a fine young lady. I've told several people that I don't believe I've ever met a more polite, well-mannered young lady. Sometimes a rare commodity to the degree I speak of in today's student-athletes.

By all newspaper accounts (and we know how accurate they can be), the parents were against the young lady playing. HHS Dad, I can appreciate your son's passion for competition, but I would imagine that you came to your agreement with the consultation of his doctor. If Ms. Stevenson was a senior, I may not feel as strongly, but to endanger the future health of a 15-year-old? I just cannot agree with it. I see the decision-making abilities of that age group on a daily basis. They are living in the moment. They are not considering anything about next month, let alone years ahead.

I obviously do not know of the true intent of Snappy starting this thread, however, my comments would be the same regardless of the team involved. And I believe it was LC's second tournament game in which the young lady "re-injured" or aggravated her knee injury. She had to be helped from the floor and never re-entered the rest of the tournament. Again, parents step up. I know in my coaching days I would always relent to the desires of the parent if they did not want their child to play. Even if, in my experience and knowledge, I did not believe it would harm the child.

I blame the parents as much or more than the coach. It seems that many parents anymore are afraid to be a parent and tell their kid no when it's in their best interest.

Congratulations to Lexington Catholic on their championship. That being said, Rose Hill had one of the more inspiring tournament runs in recent history. I have never personally met any of Lexington Catholic's players and would not even begin to comment on them individually. But I have met and spoken with nearly all of Rose Hill's and can say that they are top-notch young ladies and deserving of these accolades. I know that many on this site have a different opinion on a couple of the players but I have seen a tremendous amount of maturation, particularly in one. Again congratulations to all the young ladies who participated in last night's championship.

You seem to be becoming the Greenup/Lewis defender!:jump: No one has degraded these two programs in any way. They are only commenting on the potential of the two teams that have already been mentioned in this post! Relax.

Crowds would have to double from typical girls state tournament or they would be swallowed up by cavernous Rupp. Sometimes a smaller venue is better. Memorioal Colliseum would be a better fit than Rupp, but that would definitely give the appearance of treating the girls second class. The only negative that I've experienced with Bowling Green is the five hour drive! The same complaint that our friends on the western end have about Lexington!

I'm heading down on Thursday evening. I never make reservations and don't have trouble finding a room. Of course my standards may not be as high as some!

I was only referring to the girls games. I realize there is often a huge disparity in atmosphere. I've been to Elliott County GIRLS games and there is very little support. But let's face it. If you win people start coming, it's easier to win when you're being supported.

I saw a thread on another board that questioned what has happened to the West Carter Comet Crazies student section. I would have to agree. After attending last nights game it was night and day from one end of the gym to the other. This morning's ADI shows the Raceland student section painted, standing and cheering. This was the case for nearly the entire game. I can't remember ever hearing from the West Carter students of even seeing them stand. Are there any schools left in the tournament that have school spirit?
