Having lost my wife of 30 years to cancer about this time last year, I can only say that I am truly sorry you have to go through this, Coach Brossart! My prayers are with you and your family!

Simon Kenton 46 Conner 41
Congratulations to the Pioneers! Good luck in your game with Boone this week. It should be another very good game. It is a shame either team had to lose, but you 'Neers did what you needed to secure the win! Congratulations go to the Cougars as well for turning around their program! Mr. West has continued to get better and better throughout the season. I remember his 8th grade BCPWFL coach telling me a number of years ago that I should remember this young man since he was going to be a real stud by the time he got to high school. The same coach had a hand with another great QB at Conner, Trevor Stellman, along with many other recent and current players for the Cougars. He's seen his share of great players through the years. It's good to see him on the Cougar sideline now. Go Cougars!!

SK up now. Simpson is apparently taking over. My son's phone has died, so I won't be able to update the second half. First half is 20 seconds from being over. SK 28 Conner 14

Conner/Simon Kenton Updates
Apparently, I missed a text message. Conner scored the 2 point conversion after their touchdown to make it Conner 8 SK 6 SK is driving, now though with 9 minutes remaining in the half.

Conner/Simon Kenton Updates
I'll do my best - My son is texting me as big plays happen. Conner stopped SK on 4 and 1 in the next possesion.

Conner/Simon Kenton Updates
I just got a text message that the score is tied 6-6 in the 1st quarter. I don't know how SK scored, but Conner scored on a 65 yard TD pass.

Boone County 28 Ryle 14
I agree - I watched on ICN6 last night and was extremely surprised by the call on Lokesak. The TV didn't show the personal foul, so I couldn't comment on that. The unsportsmanlike call was extremely weak, though as it appeared he wouldn't have gotten in to the endzone without the dive.

Boone County 28 Ryle 14
Part of that was probably due to the defensive adjustment Ryle made at the half. They were determined not to allow the sweep as easily in the second half. I watched the game on TV and was impressed by the effort by both teams. Congrats to you, Boone Co. on winning the district.

Boone County's Davis signs with Mount Union
Congratulations, Dustin! You're gonna love Coach K. My son played there for awhile a few years ago before getting injured. When he was there, he was the only one from Kentucky in the school. It was an interesting and growing experience for him. Again, good luck to you!

Conner Football Star Working on Cancer Cure
Way cool article, cshs81! It is good to read about a former Cougar (even though I don't know him - before my time here). As another stated, it is good to see people take advantage of the education that can be had from playing football!

NKY 6A District
Those that have been on here a long time know that I am a huge Conner fan. However, this will likely be the year of the Rebel. Ryle will likely be second with Campbell 3rd. The fourth spot is wide open, so since this is only speculation at this time I'll pick the Cougars. I'm hearing some good things about them but have not been able to watch any practice due to the fact that I'm still working out of town this season. I hope to watch the scrimmage next weekend with Dixie. After that, I can make a little better assessment. Farris makes it hard to pick anyone but Boone at this early point in the season, though.

Future All-Star Game
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Ohio already play an all-star game with Pennsylvania? If that is the case, then I doubt they would be interested in playing Kentucky. A game with Ohio would be interesting, though. I would suspect that as the series got started, it would be somewhat lopsided in Ohio's favor at first (the KY-TN game was as well). However, perhaps that could create an even better Kentucky High School football program in time simply from the increased competition.

Very Sad News: The Death of LSURock
Although I've been working in Michigan for the past year, I read BGP everyday to keep up. To read this news about this man has bothered me immensely. I'm only a year younger than him, but have experienced a heart attack at age 37 and quadruple bypass a year and a half ago at the end of my youngest son's senior football season at Conner. His death has really reminded me of how fortunate I am that God has chosen to spare me so far. When I first signed up for BGP back in 2001, LSURock infuritated me to no end. But, then I began to try and pay close attention to what he was saying. That along with the heart surgery (that changed a lot of my ways of looking at life) helped me to begin to understand what he was saying. I had the utmost respect for him because he was right with his posts and truly believed what he was saying. As a final tribute to LSU, you other guys out there in your late 30's and 40's need to listen to your bodies. If your chest is hurting you, there is likely something wrong. Our health care industry can fix it but only if you go check it out! My prayer is that God will hold his family and loved ones in his hands and comfort them in this time of mourning. Heaven has now indeed become an even more lively place with the addition of this caring gentleman. RIP, LSU! We will miss you! NKY_YouthCoach

East 44 West 14 (2007 NKY East/West All Star Game)
Both of my boys were fortunate enough to have played in this game and I got the same feeling from seeing Boone Co.'s and Ryle's decals on their respective helmets (due to the county rivalries since they went to Conner). The truth is though, this is a great idea and tradition, and I think it works great! Congrats to this year's players on both the East and the West. I'm sure you all will remember this experience for a long time.

Where is Petrino going to sign?
After experiencing Mt. Union a few years ago when my son was up there for a while, Coach Kehres would work wonders with Nick. It's a LONG way from Atlanta to Alliance, though (long way from NKY, too). Walking on at GA Tech makes more sense if he wants to be near his folks.

Conner Head Coaching Position
That is what they have to get back to, accountability among the players. The Seniors of the 2002 team that started a short run of good Cougar teams required that from all of the players. The 2 senior groups that followed them in '03 and '04 demanded the same. For whatever reason the last 2 groups did not demand the accountability and the results speak for themselves. This is great news and reason for cautious optimism about the coming season. GO COUGARS!!!
